Italian Journalist Claims Newcastle Are On The Trail Of 23-Year-Old Striker

Newcastle will try to land a top young striker this summer. There are a couple of high-profile targets who continue to enter the conversation in Benfica’s Darwin Nunez and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

However, it could take a miracle to rival our recent climb up the table to land either. If they become available, they would be in very high demand and cost a small fortune. Newcastle may have to move to other targets.

Sport Witness is citing a claim from Italy that Newcastle are tracking Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca, who was briefly linked in January. The 6’5″ Italian has matched Osimhen’s tally in Serie A with 13 goals, albeit with 9 more appearances.

According to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato, Newcastle and both Milan clubs are on Scamacca’s trail. Napoli also see the 23-year-old as a potential replacement should Osimhen leave this summer.

Before this season, Scamacca spent the majority of the last three years on loan with Cremonese, PEC Zwolle, Ascoli, and Genoa. He finished his loan spell in Genoa with 6 goals in his last 8 appearances.

This is his first serious run in the Sassuolo team, who he joined from PSV in 2017. Scamacca also has three caps for Italy, most recently this past March. One potential issue is that he signed a contract extension last month to 2026.

Venerato has his price tag at €40m which is very steep but likely half of what Osimhen would command. With Newcastle desperate to add options up front, Scamacca could be one to watch this summer.

True but I’m talking about Ragnar’s time when he invaded England and otc they couldn’t read or write as that was down to very intellectual, intelligent people of high status, not just anyone could read or write.

As a proud Dane who knows a thing or two about viking history I have to chime in here… No Rollo wasnt Ragnars brother. In fact Ragnar Lodbrok is not a real person but a saga built on several persons. Probably mostly Reginherus who was the Danish viking who sacked Paris in around year 800. But don’t watch those series and movies hollywood spew out and think you learn anything real. As I Dane im sick and tired of Vikings being portrayed as comming from the mountains when in fact, here in Denmark we have no mountains and thats actually one of the reasons we could muster so many men. You see the Danes were farmers, and the flat, rich soil could produce lots of food for big armies. Back in those days, Denmark had about twice as large a population as Sweden (Of which we owned the southern parts of Halland and Skåne) and four times as many as Norway which were under danish control in about half the viking period. The biggest achievements were Svend Tveskæg who conquered England and his son Knud den Store who ruled Denmark, Norway, England, parts of Sweden and Germany and some even say parts of Poland as well.

Ragnar is a myth from the Viking chronicles …..probably an amalgam of several Viking/danish raiders. Bit like Arthur.

but the guys portrayed as Ragnars sons are real, such as Bjørn Jernside, Sigurd Orm i Øjet and so on. They were in the great Heathen army which invaded England. Although they had no intention of staying and left shortly after being successful. They guy Ragnars saga is built on is thought to be the grand parrent of Gorm den Gamle. The first viking to unite the Kingdom of Denmark under one banner.

Angols and Saxons were nomadic tribes from the eastern steppes originally I believe who amalgamated and moved westward through Northern Europe into Britain. Might be wrong I’ll check now.

Mund… I would love that. I like to counter all those Hollywood lies when I have the chance. I will come to Newcastle in the autumm. We can meet up then. But no Ragnar wasn’t Norweigan, in fact he was a Saga who met Odin and so on. But the main history in that Saga are true. What you need to understand that Vikings then have historicans, so we know this from France and English history whereas the Danes are noted to have sacked Paris for instance. Savages they might have been compared to the French, but the werent dumb. They waited till it was Sunday when they knew all the French soldiers would be at church and then they sailed their longships right into the channels of Paris and basically said that they would burn the city to the ground if they didnt give up all they had.

Lesh… Yes he did. Lets say Reginherud, the guy Ragnars legend is most likely build on, conquered all of Denmark, Sweden and Norway and he had 3 sons. Then when he died those 3 sons would inherit a part each, making Bjørn the ruler of Sweden, Sigurd the ruler of Denmark and so on. So their inheritance laws werent built for legacies at those times.

slightly off angles, Saxons and jutes came from north eastern Germany and Denmark area where they seemed to just appear from nowhere. Germanic tribes anyways who saw our great and green lands and scattered the welsh (Britons) into the valleys where they remain to this day.
