Italian Journalist Claims Newcastle Are On The Trail Of 23-Year-Old Striker

Newcastle will try to land a top young striker this summer. There are a couple of high-profile targets who continue to enter the conversation in Benfica’s Darwin Nunez and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

However, it could take a miracle to rival our recent climb up the table to land either. If they become available, they would be in very high demand and cost a small fortune. Newcastle may have to move to other targets.

Sport Witness is citing a claim from Italy that Newcastle are tracking Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca, who was briefly linked in January. The 6’5″ Italian has matched Osimhen’s tally in Serie A with 13 goals, albeit with 9 more appearances.

According to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato, Newcastle and both Milan clubs are on Scamacca’s trail. Napoli also see the 23-year-old as a potential replacement should Osimhen leave this summer.

Before this season, Scamacca spent the majority of the last three years on loan with Cremonese, PEC Zwolle, Ascoli, and Genoa. He finished his loan spell in Genoa with 6 goals in his last 8 appearances.

This is his first serious run in the Sassuolo team, who he joined from PSV in 2017. Scamacca also has three caps for Italy, most recently this past March. One potential issue is that he signed a contract extension last month to 2026.

Venerato has his price tag at €40m which is very steep but likely half of what Osimhen would command. With Newcastle desperate to add options up front, Scamacca could be one to watch this summer.

Hoy could very well be “Hej” which means hello and Plodge could spring from pløje which can both mean to work a field but also to work your way through hard terrain. Im only guessing here, but the similarities are very interesting.

FtC – while you’re around we’ve always got on OK as ex-Rutherfordians so I’m not quite sure why you named me in last night’s rant about Mund.
FYI – I’ve hardly been on recently and when I do, since our last spat, I haven’t interacted with Mund, mentioned him or referred to him in any respect!

Hinny, I cant really place… Here we use words such as kære or elskede. Perhaps that one is evolved from the term of endearment “honey”?

If you are really confident about Richie going back to Bournemouth, then could you lend me £100. If me bet comes in I’ll buy you the very best of Parmo. Washed down with a lovely bottle of broon.

I’ll get your missus a bottle of lambrusco super strength. 😉

To hit a person we use the word Slå (pronounced something in the lines of Sloe) But to hit a target we say Ramme. And if you hit bullseye you could say that you rammer plet. It’s important to note that the Danish language have evolved allot since then. Fun fact… Something I was told by a Norweigan which I actually didn’t know. In Norway it’s was considered low to speak Norweigan in the old days. Norweigan people of Royalty and high positions in society spoke Danish all the way up to the early 1900’s.

Actually to bray or beat up could be to “banke” some one… That is the closest I can think of right now… The big lad promised the smaller lad bank after school. Meaning he was promised a beating.

    Martoon,

I do genuinely like you as a poster, you are a decent poster that seems a good man. I have absolutely nothing against you personally. But I said my peace last night and that was a handful of posters IMHO rounding up on a fellow poster. It was very uncomfortable reading…

It all seem to happen one after the other all at the same time and it was a bunch of posters, literally ganging up on a fellow poster. It’s what I observed and I called it out mate as I saw it.

The thing is when I see this type of behaviour I think it needs called out as it can get out of control. The blog is much, much better the last week or so. It’s been a pleasure reading through actually and I’d love it to stay that way. Raj and Mund will never have a truce unfortunately. But let’s not have others join in to make matters worse, that’s all I’m saying.

I don’t have an issue with you whatsoever well, apart from that avatar of yours as it does seriously hypnotise me into taken me clothes off and running through the streets as naked as the day I was born. Ohh here I go I’m off I’ll be back in a tick 😉

Btw… My 15 year old son, who never really cared for football is starting to get an interest and of course, he has chosen Newcastle like his old man. So Im teaching whatever Newcastle history I know, such as the term geordies and so on. He also started to be a fan while we still had Ashley as our owner, so no one can accuse him of being a gold digger 😀 Im taking him up to see us play in the Autumn.

Speaking of the origins of dialects, an American friend of mine sent me a video that said the southern states in US was orignally populated by Brits from the northern border regions, who back then were a lot wilder than their southern counterparts. It claimed the southern culture came from these border people. I often think y’all and ai’ight are similar to what we’d say, as well as pants for trousers.

Four players who did themselves no favours at the weekend.
Maxi – workrate off the ball god awful. Had the play him thru the middle as couldnt be trusted to track back. Oh dear, is he on his way.
Shelvey – absolutely player around, not for the first time since Howe arrived.
Lascelles – Cannot play football and turns like a p&o liner.
Targett – maybe harsh but first time his lack of pace was exposed. Done great since hes been here, but if we can fund a Jose Enrique he maybe back to villa.

    On the origin of words…

    Jiggered…

    Meaning knackered, tired, in Geordie.

Hardly used now and some of the younger posters may never have heard of the word.

Older posters… where does it originate from? (I know).

Rafael Leão Is a name that surprises me, I would have thought the press would have told us all about the best young prospects. Playing for title winning AC Milan he will be forgoing the possibility of playing in the CL and joining only for the money. The transfer fee will also be very high and whilst he is the type of player we need, an established striker should be a priority.

We need rising stars with ambition.
Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku has no interest in signing for AC Milan or Newcastle this summer, despite the 28-year-old’s growing frustration at a lack of opportunities at Chelsea.

Would add a lot of goals and threat to our team and good understanding from the start.

    Jail

First and foremost Lingard is a proven goal scoring threat in the Prem – and we defo need more of those + he can play out wide.

I see him as an upgrade on Murphy, Miggy and Fraser and even possibly ASM.

In that sense I don’t see a clash with Pacqueta.

Eddie needs to make some hard decisions for the good of the squad and I’d be happy to see Lingard replace any one of the first three above.

Think if we were to get Lingard and Paqueta, it would require one of the 4 Bills mentioned to be on their way out. If we had ASM, Miggy, Murphy, Fraser, Lingard and Paqueta all playing for those wide attacking roles or number 10/attacking mid role, that’s too many I’d say. Especially as you could potentially include Willock and Joe in that bunch too. Think it’ll be 1 or the other unless we manage to move someone out. Not sure if either would be happy to join unless they were a starter too, so wonder how Howe would shape the team to accommodate both.
