Newcastle At Manchester City – Team Prediction, Injuries, And Fan Expectations

This is the team I am predicting Eddie Howe will name for this afternoon’s match at Manchester City. It has two changes from the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.

Eddie Howe revealed that both Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier are in with a chance today with Wilson the more likely of the two. However, it seems doubtful either will start the match.

Howe was unhappy with Newcastle’s performance in front of goal last weekend. So we could see changes in the top three. While Chris Wood has only scored twice, he is the best candidate to lead the line until Wilson is fully fit.

Joelinton, while outstanding at Norwich, has become a sensation in the middle of the pitch. He has started upfront for the past two weeks but is better suited for the midfield against the league leaders.

There are only two Magpies ruled out with Wilson and Trippier likely to make the bench. Pep Guardiola could have a full squad to chose from if John Stones and Kyle Walker pass late fitness tests.

Newcastle Injuries

Fabian Schar (foot), Ryan Fraser (hamstring)

Manchester City Injuries

John Stones (thigh – late fitness test), Kyle Walker (ankle – late fitness test)

Our poll shows that the majority of fans aren’t expecting the lads to derail the Man City train with around 60% predicting a defeat. However, anything can happen and The Citizens are coming a late collapse in the Champions League.

How Will Newcastle Do At Manchester City On Sunday?

Newcastle will have to be at their best this afternoon. This is the most difficult fixture on the schedule. A result would be a bonus but a solid performance is needed to keep the optimism flowing over the final few weeks of this campaign.

Bit of talk about Bristol Rovers /Bristol City – Do not care which one and the nickname “The Gas”. Interesting history of the nickname . But what I do know is that there are some Gas bags on here – full of wind.

Their wind could power wind turbines. Get them offshore with no access to Wifi – it would do us all a favour.

Re the health and safety debate it all falls in to the reasonably practicable clause.

“It is not reasonably practicable to expect a Geordie man who has means of tuning into a weekend match to miss said match regardless if contractual obligations to employERs.”
    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1974/37

    All explained there.

Lesh, as I’m watching the game, I’d more than settle for 7-7 I’d love it.

However I’ll be happy with 1-0, delighted with 1-1 and bloody ecstatic with 0 – anything 😀

Cannot see us winning today. I think City are just a bit too good.

Few on here suggesting Maxi will not start – of course he will.

    Lesh,

From previous…. This is a football blog, where people have a bit of banter to and fro. If people/headhunters/future bosses come on here to check peoples characters then no bloody wonder you are a faceless avatar!!!! I am as transparent as can be, and it’s why I’ve had my face in full view many times,Nothing to hide, whatsoever my end. What about you? Howay get yourself on here, let’s see you?

Just FYI – I’m well known to have a very good character in my field and actually have a very good name within that line of work and posting on here shall not ever damage that…Do you honestly think whatever I post on here will damage my name in HSE 😆 get a life and stop your stupid attempts at your unveiled threats, hidden behind a cloak of unnecessary unwanted advice that simply and basically make zero sense on a football blog. You do understand that this IS a football blog right? I mean you were the guy that stated I’d be drinking with Putin on St George’s Day? What sort of character are you to say such things especially with what’s happening in the world right now, you said this to a man you’ve never met and don’t know from Adam? Now Take your whining, whinging and WOKE approach to a socialist, political platform, where you can argue debate all day long go your hears content where you take the very serious approach re your clear and evident first love which is Lefty Politics…Or start posting football stuff and less of the goading of posters such as was it Jib to start with I believe? Then Jane, Mund, now me. Bit of a weirdo is what you are IMO. I really don’t believe you are the person you make out to be on here that’s very evident. Without knowing you, you do seem the activist dangerous type. Now play good, stop your goading and silly unnecessary and unwanted advice on subjects you clearly have zero knowledge in. Be a good lad 😉

Guardiola said: “I want to welcome Eddie Howe and his staff here today and I also want to extend a really warm welcome to the Newcastle fans who are always so good whenever we have been to St James’ Park.

“Newcastle is an historic club so this is a fixture I always look forward to. When a team comes into a game in good form you always have to be aware. The Newcastle players are happy, feel good and trust the manager’s process and have confidence.

“That is a dangerous combination. My players know this and we have been working since the Real Madrid match to ensure we combat their threat.”

And speaking on the job Howe has done, Guardiola said: “Eddie has had a huge impact since taking over and deserves so much credit. Not only has he managed to get excellent results you can also see his ideas have been clearly accepted by the players. Clearly he has the respect of everyone at Newcastle and to do that in a short space of time is really good.
