Local Lad Is Reluctant To Sign New Four-Year Contract

Earlier in the week, Luke Edwards tweeted that Newcastle were hoping to add four to six players this summer. However, that number is dependent on the success of offloading fringe members of the squad.

It does appear that at least four players will be added with a striker, a wide attacker, a center-back, and a left-back (if Matt Targett’s purchase option is not taken up) as the probable additions.

Edwards has identified some of the players that could make way in his latest report in The Telegraph. He believes Matt Ritchie, Ciaran Clark, Karl Darlow, Federico Fernandez, Isaac Hayden, Jeff Hendrick and Dwight Gayle have all been made available.

Interestingly, Edwards is also reporting that Sean Longstaff could be leaving his hometown club. The Geordie has so far refused to sign a new deal despite Eddie Howe’s attempts to retain him. The Times reported last week that Sean has been offered a 4-year contract.

Longstaff wants more playing time and is unlikely to any guarantees from Howe. The 24-year-old has been the fifth-choice midfielder this season behind Jonjo Shelvey, Joe Willock, Bruno Guimaraes, and Joelinton.

While Howe has three midfielders in his system, Sean has seen precious few minutes on the pitch this year. He made just his fourth league start of 2022 at the Etihad this past weekend. Though he will likely get the nod in the final two matches with Shelvey and Willock out through injury.

If Sean does leave, Howe will almost certainly look to add another midfielder this summer. Jeff Hendrick and Isaac Hayden have been made available and Matty Longstaff may need another seasoning out on loan before he is ready for the Premier League.

As things stand I absolutely now want us to win the next 2 games irrespective of what it means to others. 49 points has a nice ring to it.

    Here’s a good stat.

ManC are the highest scoring team in the whole of European Leagues and they’ve just signed Haaland!!! Ffs is appropriate. 🙂

This game could easily have been double figures, they hit the woodwork two or three times and the Wolves keeper played well, like i said earlier, step forward the English Barcelona.

When all odds were against us, when everyone doubted us, we united and forged ahead. Tonight is the result of that hard work.Thank you Eddie, you have been incredible, thank you to the coaching staff our squad and everyone at the club, and of course our fans.

I was hoping for a top 9 finish at one point not long ago, however and unfortunately all the teams in and around us have gone on winning run(s)…

I do still strongly belt we will end up in 12th place come the end of the season. (If results go our way potentially higher) Unbelievable when you think where we were in December. I personally had us down, I know it was far too soon in the season to make such negative assumptions. However, the damage that The ex manager and owner did to our club, was that damaging, I thought it was 100% not to be turned around. We were gone, relegation as we simply couldn’t buy a win even when Eddie first arrived, the rot had set in that deep, basically the rot was so deeply ingrained it was the championship and we were going to build from there and start from scratch and do a KK when we got that promotion into the PL. I was thinking we’d have a storming season in the champo and smash it. Knowing our support, it would have still been a great journey back up.

I never thought in a million years what was to come. But We are safe. We have now saved 2 years of the projects plans, Which is such a huge positive, let us not forget this, because as we do have a lot of older folk on here whom after I said we need patience once stated, (which actually put a lump in my throat” “we may not potentially have the time on our side to see us win something if it’s not soon, we don’t have patience, we want to win something ASAP”. So on the back of this and what has taken place is such a great feeling and I strongly believe it will get us winning something very very soon IMO. We deserve it, everyone on here, every NUFC supporter around the world deserve what we have command ASAP hopefully. This summer transfer window will put us on another level since KK / SBR days…Onwards and upwards and Howay the laddies and Lassies, not long to go and enjoy the journey. Enjoy every part of it and absorb it and don’t take any of it for granted. Never forget where we were. Keep our feet on the ground 🙂

Today it’s official we’re without a doubt safe, mathematically safe. Even though it was highly unlikely we would go down a couple of weeks ago it’s still nice to know it’s impossible now. Thank God and thank Eddie Howe, the players, backroom staff, fans for their support and our fantastic owners that are going to take this club to the Premier Lesgue summit as quick as they can (within FFP).

What a great time to be a NUFC supporter after so many years of heartache. We will finally be living the good times now.
