Newcastle Are Officially Safe After Wednesday’s Results

Newcastle United are officially safe after Wednesday’s fixtures despite dropping to 14th in the league table. Leeds’ 3-0 defeat against Chelsea has secured Newcastle’s place in the division for next season.

Leeds, who occupy the 18th position in the league, are now 9 points behind The Magpies with two matches remaining thus confirming safety for Newcastle. Leeds are in serious trouble of returning to the Championship.

In other results, Everton fail to pick up a third straight win as they only achieved a 0-0 draw at Watford. The Hornets’ fate of relegation was sealed with their 1-0 loss at Crystal Palace this past weekend.

Leicester defeated Norwich 3-0 at The King Power Stadium to leap Newcastle in the table. The Foxes still have one match in hand which could pose problems for Newcastle’s push for a top ten place.

Here is a look at the updated league table.

Newcastle can match their 2013/14 points total of 49 with a win against Arsenal and at Burnley to close this season. The fact that Newcastle are now safe is a testament to Eddie Howe’s impact since his arrival.

I was hoping for a top 9 finish at one point not long ago, however and unfortunately all the teams in and around us have gone on winning run(s)…

I do still strongly belt we will end up in 12th place come the end of the season. (If results go our way potentially higher) Unbelievable when you think where we were in December. I personally had us down, I know it was far too soon in the season to make such negative assumptions. However, the damage that The ex manager and owner did to our club, was that damaging, I thought it was 100% not to be turned around. We were gone, relegation as we simply couldn’t buy a win even when Eddie first arrived, the rot had set in that deep, basically the rot was so deeply ingrained it was the championship and we were going to build from there and start from scratch and do a KK when we got that promotion into the PL. I was thinking we’d have a storming season in the champo and smash it. Knowing our support, it would have still been a great journey back up.

I never thought in a million years what was to come. But We are safe. We have now saved 2 years of the projects plans, Which is such a huge positive, let us not forget this, because as we do have a lot of older folk on here whom after I said we need patience once stated, (which actually put a lump in my throat” “we may not potentially have the time on our side to see us win something if it’s not soon, we don’t have patience, we want to win something ASAP”. So on the back of this and what has taken place is such a great feeling and I strongly believe it will get us winning something very very soon IMO. We deserve it, everyone on here, every NUFC supporter around the world deserve what we have command ASAP hopefully. This summer transfer window will put us on another level since KK / SBR days…Onwards and upwards and Howay the laddies and Lassies, not long to go and enjoy the journey. Enjoy every part of it and absorb it and don’t take any of it for granted. Never forget where we were. Keep our feet on the ground 🙂

Today it’s official we’re without a doubt safe, mathematically safe. Even though it was highly unlikely we would go down a couple of weeks ago it’s still nice to know it’s impossible now. Thank God and thank Eddie Howe, the players, backroom staff, fans for their support and our fantastic owners that are going to take this club to the Premier League summit as quick as they can (within FFP).

What a great time to be a NUFC supporter after so many years of heartache. We will finally be living the good times now.

Need to do a City and announce a couple of signings before Sunday’s KO.

Not that it’s needed, but would perk up the crowd no end. 🙂

I think it was the end of February when I started thinking bollox to this I’m looking up not down. Eddie made the old “ Be the hunter, not the hunted” did it for me. Love that quote. What a difference of an approach from what we had thrown upon us.

At one point we were getting so much bad luck, I thought had we sinned in a previous life and actually supported Sunderland 😉

Now I know we are blessed as supporters. The hoodoo is over 😉

I honestly couldn’t care less where we finish in the table now tbh, after the season we’ve had to endure..

Saying that though,I still think we will get 4 pts from the next two,if Eddie keeps them at it of course..

Been safe for 8 weeks…long live king Howe the first.

Now perhaps we’ll see some credible leaks as to who we’re recruiting and who I’ll be splashing the cash on.

Lots going out the revolving door, but lots of much better quality coming in.

FFP my arse…we’re gonna wreak havoc! 😀

    Yours sincerely
