Bruno Guimaraes Could Help Bring These Two Top Brazilian Internationals To Newcastle This Summer

Newcastle are now technically safe in the Premier League and all we need to do now to finish off what has been a tremendous second half of the season is to win our final two games against Arsenal at home next Monday night and then struggling Burnley away on Sunday 22nd May.

Then the summer transfer window will start in earnest and Newcastle will be very busy, and we will want to bring in top-class players like Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Tripper this summer.

Newcastle will be linked with a host of good players this summer, and Bruno Guimaraes could help bring in two Brazilians he knows very well.

One is Atlético Madrid’s 24year-old 15 times capped Brazilian left-back Renan Lodi, who Bruno knows from his play with Brazil, and Kieran knows from his time in Madrid when he was his teammate.

Lodi’s interest by Newcastle may be why Eddie Howe has been reticent to fully commit to signing Matt Targett, who has done so well on loan this season.

Lodi joined Atlético Madrid from Atlético Paranaense back in the summer of 2019 and has played 118 times for Atlético with 6 goals and 10 assists.

Lodi made his debut for the Brazilian national team in October 2019, and he would seem like an excellent buy for Newcastle.

If Howe really wants Lodi, then Bruno can surely help persuade his Brazilian team-mate to join Newcastle, and maybe Kieran too.

Whether Howe will also sign Targett if he signs Lodi remains to be seen, but Dummett has signed a one-year extension, and we can sell Jamal Lewis and Matt Ritchie this summer.

The other player we are interested in is Bruno’s Brazilian teammate at Lyon – Lucas Paqueta.

He is a really exciting central midfield player who can score goals, and Bruno and Paqueta played so well for Lyon last season when they were Champions of Ligue 1.

It’s not beyond the realm of possibility he even wants to join Bruno at Newcastle, by far the world’s richest club and one of the most ambitious too.

The attacking midfielder joined Lyon in September 2020, on a €20M (about £17M) deal and a five-year contract: and in 77 appearances for the club, he has 20 goals and had 13 assists.

Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas is prepared to sell his star player this summer and is asking for offers above €60M (about £50M) for the attacking midfielder.

That would be a great return in just two years for Lyon, who like most clubs in Europe need the money after the COVID outbreak.

So there you have it – two of Bruno’s friends – left back Renan Lodi from Atlético Madrid and Lyon’s Lucas Paqueta, who has been capped 31 times for Brazil and scored 7 international goals.

These two players would add real class to our squad for next season.
Fact.

What do you think?

    Lets try this again…

Who would you prefer for DCL?

    Badiashile
    Botman
    Gvardiol
    Ignacio

Both Lodi and Paqueta are really good friends with Bruno and also Lodi is good mates with Trippier.

There was rumours a few month back that Trippier was trying to convince Oblak to come to the toon so wouldn’t surprise me if he is doing the same with Lodi and add the fact he is close with Bruno it could actually happen.

    Very exciting

What do you mean mate? DCL is a striker and they are all CB’s

    Badiashile
    Botman

For me tho but I’d be happy with any of them but would love Badiashile out of the lot.

Mund… I think it’s from a football game I have been playing, I dont remember if its trophy manager or fm22. But central defender left is what I meant or as you say CB left 🙂

I think its the same for me, Badiashile first, Botman 2nd. But Gvardiol seems really good as well. It’s a hard choice.

If you gave me a choice between DCL and Richarlison then it would be DCL. Before his injury he was banging in goals under Ancelotti. The problem is his injury record for me, not his attitude or ability.

Richarlison is a ever so slightly more potent version of Maxi, without the upside of being a banter machine on social media. Spends far too much time on the deck whinging over non-incidents. Same with Zaha.

Rashford doesn’t strike me as more interested in his off the field activities (how dare he care about putting food in kids bellies when he’s got a footy match, eh?), he’s lost interest in Man Utd, their clown car set up, their terrible fans etc. Bring him in and I bet he’d recapture his form, he’s a fantastic footballer.

    Cyprus,

Fair enough mate, it’s all opinions and conjecture anyway. Either one of them improve the squad immeasurably.

Personally, if we’re going to try and spend a fortune on a current premiership forward, I’d strongly consider Rashford. IMO his form this season is proof of the joke his club is fast becoming. The fans are on his case etc. I truly believe he’d flourish here, and be adored by the fans. He’s the right kind of person to bring in too with all his charitable work, seems like a genuinely decent lad who’d fit into our dressing room.

Lodi and Pacqueta would be two great buys and I’m sure Bruno could do the business and get them both here.
I’d worry about Targett being sold, however, as he would be the perfect understudy (or rotation) for Lodi. If we sold Matt and had Dummett in as back up we would not be improving the squad strength in the least. We have to have quality throughout the squad not ‘throw away’ replacements coming in for injuries etc. As for Calvert-Lewin – no thank you!! If we go Brazilian let’s go for Jesus as Haaland is going to have his position nailed next season.

On the left sided CB – Literally any of them mate, but Badiashile or Gvardiol stand out the most for me.

I thought the same on “DCL” lol! On Left CB don’t forget Ndicka who has a release clause.

Any one of them looks tasty but i think Gvardiol. I’d put Botman down the list just cause of less pace, but he was willing to come to us in the bad moment and could still be class. All of them sound awesome on the surface tbh

    Wynsleap,

Problem is with Jesus is he doesn’t like playing through the middle. He prefers to play out wide so we’d not really answer our striker problem.

Great player though, but can’t help but feel his recent form would see him having more established options and he maybe would go with a team already established in the CL

Have we been linked to other LBs other than Lodi and Targett? Interesting that there is lots of names for CF, Wing, and CB but only Lodi, Hickey, Targett for LB.

Would love to read too much into it and assume we are confident of getting Lodi given this lol

Ledge… Oh me too mate, I can’t wait till the summer!

Dazzler… Those are the two that seems to the favorites. In can really work in our favor that there are so many good options to chose from, since we are bound to wrestle with some very big teams for some of them.
