Elliot Anderson finished his loan spell at Bristol Rovers with a bang. The 19-year-old scored an almost perfect 9.96 rating on WhoScored with a goal, 2 assists, and 7 key passes as Bristol downed Scunthorpe 7-0.
Bristol had confirmed a playoff place the weekend before when Elliot headed in a dramatic 95th-minute winner. His goal last weekend against The Iron was the one that clinched promotion back to League One as it matched Northampton’s goal difference giving Bristol the edge through goals scored.
Anderson ended his loan spell with 8 goals and 5 assists in 21 appearances. He endeared himself at Bristol earning rave reviews from manager Joey Barton while getting dubbed The Geordie Maradona by some.
Anderson is unfortunately not eligible to play a part in Newcastle’s final two matches this season. Eddie Howe confirmed during this morning’s press conference that he will take a close look at the youngster in the summer saying:
“We’ll certainly bring him back for preseason. We’ll have a close look at him. He’ll be involved in the pre-season games.
“We’ll make the decision then whether he needs another loan or whether he’s going to stay with us.”
Howe needs to make the right decision for the local lad’s development. He appears to have the ability and mentality to help Newcastle next season. However, if it is only in a bit-part role, a loan to The Championship may be best in the long term.
Howe also mentioned how much he feels Anderson benefited from his half-season on loan despite him being miles above League Two. Here is what Howe said when about how pleased he was with Anderson’s loan spell:
“Very pleased for him. He was desperate to go and play and have that experience on loan.
“I’ve said many times we didn’t want to necessarily pitch him into League Two. We felt maybe he was better than that level but due to one reason or another, that’s the level he ended up at.
“He’s excelled. It’s very difficult to, as a young player, go out and really make a difference. He’s not just done that, he’s made an incredible difference to Bristol Rovers.
“It was a dramatic final day. Full credit to Joey’s team and to Elliot. What an experience for him. Certainly one he’ll always remember and look back very fondly, hopefully at the end of a very successful career.”

Comment #8What’s the obsession about posting first? Pretty sad for adults on a blog but hey ho.
Actually staying on topic….
He’s a great player but I reckon another loan to the championship would do him the world of good. I really hope he can be like our Foden though.

He’s got it all – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVdZR88mkwc&t=305s – and will be the next England no1 ST.
Our owners would do well to realise that and seize the opportunity. Not only footballing ability, but it’s always good PR to have England’s leading striker, which I have no doubt he will be within 2-3 years max.

Lethal mate and I’ve always thought it but to go to Italy and do what he has done just shows he is he real deal. I agree with everything you say. I never considered him as I didn’t think we had a chance and with him only just going to Roma.
I think it was you who pointed out there position and then the possibility of Abrahams maybe wanting to leave and I also read last week I think. Jose saying all Tammy has to do if he ever wants to leave is come say boss I want to leave and he can.

Comment #25The ref has had a shocker tonight. No arguments with the red card but the pen was soft and the 3rd goal was a foul by Kane.

Let’s hope we take an interest and little magpie Jose lets him go with £60m on the table.
Even at that price he’d be a snip.
Top class young, complete ST in red hot form.
