Elliot Anderson finished his loan spell at Bristol Rovers with a bang. The 19-year-old scored an almost perfect 9.96 rating on WhoScored with a goal, 2 assists, and 7 key passes as Bristol downed Scunthorpe 7-0.
Bristol had confirmed a playoff place the weekend before when Elliot headed in a dramatic 95th-minute winner. His goal last weekend against The Iron was the one that clinched promotion back to League One as it matched Northampton’s goal difference giving Bristol the edge through goals scored.
Anderson ended his loan spell with 8 goals and 5 assists in 21 appearances. He endeared himself at Bristol earning rave reviews from manager Joey Barton while getting dubbed The Geordie Maradona by some.
Anderson is unfortunately not eligible to play a part in Newcastle’s final two matches this season. Eddie Howe confirmed during this morning’s press conference that he will take a close look at the youngster in the summer saying:
“We’ll certainly bring him back for preseason. We’ll have a close look at him. He’ll be involved in the pre-season games.
“We’ll make the decision then whether he needs another loan or whether he’s going to stay with us.”
Howe needs to make the right decision for the local lad’s development. He appears to have the ability and mentality to help Newcastle next season. However, if it is only in a bit-part role, a loan to The Championship may be best in the long term.
Howe also mentioned how much he feels Anderson benefited from his half-season on loan despite him being miles above League Two. Here is what Howe said when about how pleased he was with Anderson’s loan spell:
“Very pleased for him. He was desperate to go and play and have that experience on loan.
“I’ve said many times we didn’t want to necessarily pitch him into League Two. We felt maybe he was better than that level but due to one reason or another, that’s the level he ended up at.
“He’s excelled. It’s very difficult to, as a young player, go out and really make a difference. He’s not just done that, he’s made an incredible difference to Bristol Rovers.
“It was a dramatic final day. Full credit to Joey’s team and to Elliot. What an experience for him. Certainly one he’ll always remember and look back very fondly, hopefully at the end of a very successful career.”

Comment #41Dybala and Nunez or Schick or Abraham.
Any 2 would be a great start.
Couple of tasty midfielders a CB.
Maybe another FB, then just not bother with a keeper, have 11 outfield players…

Comment #42I must admit I don’t get this 1st bull shit or the obsession with trying to get consecutive posts.
Nor do I get the derision for a repost when the buses are on the move.

Yes, according to Eddie in press release. Not sure they’ll start tho’.
Trippier looked not quite fmatch sharp yet. Wilson looked nippy but missed his good chance.
No rush, me thinks.

Comment #48I’ve got a feeling we’ll get a win on Monday. I think Bruno will relish Wilson making runs and with Trippier taking the set pieces and putting in balls from the right I think we could get some success with it, depending on if they play and for how long.
I’d also play Murphy on the right.

You’re getting me excited mate as it does seem a possibility, that’s if he looks to leave. Jose would love for Tanmy’s next move to be at the toon in this new era and destined for greatness.
As you know mate he loves the club and every time he is up here with whoever he was managing at the time he always speaks about it being Sir Bobby’s home.

I hope Murphy starts our final 2 matches.
He’s been showing development, is our quickest player, good link-up play and his confidence continues to grow.
Last two starts away to Chelsea and Norwich he was class.
Eddie seems to have taken the wind out of his sails a bit with his time on the bench. Dunno if he’s just playing with his psyche in order to drive him on or, if it’s just been to accommodate Saint-Maximin.

He’s played 160mins since his what many considered to be a MOTM performance at Chelsea on 13th of March.
1 start against Norwich where he played a big part in 2 goals. 1 of them credited as an assist.
Bit weird.

Comment #71I have never understood how it’s been possible for PSG to avoid FFP? They play in the french league, getting perhaps 10% of what english clubs get from tv deals and price money, yet they pay the most insane fees of any club in the world. Is Platini still holding his hand over them?

Yeah I’d like to see him get a mini run. It does seem a bit odd. When he’s played up front on the right he’s always seemed to get in good positions and made good runs and looked dangerous and I’d like to see him get a run to get some consistency.

Comment #76I’m not a fan of Murphy – honest and gives it his all but find him really frustrating. Doesn’t really have the skill to create from a lot of good positions, can’t cross all that well, and the number of times he doesn’t have the execution to find the final ball or finish is really frustrating to me
Ok as a squad player but not fussed about him playing more. I know he did well admittedly against Norwich, but they were all over the place, I don’t think that the barometer
Happy for him to come good and me be proven wrong, but that’s been my observation

Comment #77So with Holding suspended and Gabriel going off injured, Arsenal only have White fit for CB against us.
I was already confident we are going to end the home season on a high before the events of tonight.
Hopefully a real celebration and chance to let it really sink in what’s occurred over the last 7-8 months.
