Howe Reveals He Will Take A Close Look At Young Geordie This Summer

Elliot Anderson finished his loan spell at Bristol Rovers with a bang. The 19-year-old scored an almost perfect 9.96 rating on WhoScored with a goal, 2 assists, and 7 key passes as Bristol downed Scunthorpe 7-0.

Bristol had confirmed a playoff place the weekend before when Elliot headed in a dramatic 95th-minute winner. His goal last weekend against The Iron was the one that clinched promotion back to League One as it matched Northampton’s goal difference giving Bristol the edge through goals scored.

Anderson ended his loan spell with 8 goals and 5 assists in 21 appearances. He endeared himself at Bristol earning rave reviews from manager Joey Barton while getting dubbed The Geordie Maradona by some.

Anderson is unfortunately not eligible to play a part in Newcastle’s final two matches this season. Eddie Howe confirmed during this morning’s press conference that he will take a close look at the youngster in the summer saying:

“We’ll certainly bring him back for preseason. We’ll have a close look at him. He’ll be involved in the pre-season games.

“We’ll make the decision then whether he needs another loan or whether he’s going to stay with us.”

Howe needs to make the right decision for the local lad’s development. He appears to have the ability and mentality to help Newcastle next season. However, if it is only in a bit-part role, a loan to The Championship may be best in the long term.

Howe also mentioned how much he feels Anderson benefited from his half-season on loan despite him being miles above League Two. Here is what Howe said when about how pleased he was with Anderson’s loan spell:

“Very pleased for him. He was desperate to go and play and have that experience on loan.

“I’ve said many times we didn’t want to necessarily pitch him into League Two. We felt maybe he was better than that level but due to one reason or another, that’s the level he ended up at.

“He’s excelled. It’s very difficult to, as a young player, go out and really make a difference. He’s not just done that, he’s made an incredible difference to Bristol Rovers.

“It was a dramatic final day. Full credit to Joey’s team and to Elliot. What an experience for him. Certainly one he’ll always remember and look back very fondly, hopefully at the end of a very successful career.”

Arsenal may be missing defenders but looks like we’ll be without Shar, Joelinton, Shelvey, Willock from our team too so definitely lacking that bite through the centre.

Not sure if we’ll need to change shape? Longstaff and Bruno but we’re lacking another CM for 4-3-3?

Maybe Wilson starts and we go 4-4-2?

Still not sure we’ll beat Arsenal without that midfield

Maybe 4-2-3-1 with Maxi more central behind Wood, and both Murphy and Almirón given a lack of other options if Wilson is not fit enough to start?

Amanda and Co and Eddie may well be sending out signals that the future is step by step.
But get the right quality of players in and add some depth to the squad plus SJP restored we could disrupt the top table next season.

He may put Miggy in there.

Clint, I’m the wrong end of 60 yet I’m embarrassed to say I’m beginning to realise just lately how corrupt and lop-sided the FA and Prem are….all those years watching shity highlights on ITV midweek and even though we’d give a team (Leicester I think)at one particular game a thumping.. manure yada ya da ya da ALWAYS got prize of place.
MOD still do it to this day…my point is .. with our world class supporters.. Carltoon.. and EH and his staff.. I think we’ll ‘slowly start to turn the knife in the belly that is Master’s Premier League dot com…and they won’t like it one snivelling bit.

Haven’t been on much last day or two but some general observations from Uncle Munster..

    – lobby is poor and his brother is awful – we hung Bruce unfairly for these guys (cue Jail…)
    – Joel isn’t good enough to play in an attacking role
-he could be a sub soon because he can cover 3 positions
-we HAVE to be ambitious in the transfer market but Eddie and Co are playing it down. We don’t want that, we want big fat splashes!
-maxi won’t be sold unless daft money comes in
-Badiashile is better than Botman (trust me, I rarely get players wrong :).
-I think we will get Paqueta and Lodi
    – too soon for Nunez i think 🙁
    – I sincerely hope that the clutch of journos who despise Saudi, absolutely abhor the white kit. Suck it up chaps, suck it up 🙂

Clint… Last I heard they offered him 100 euro to stay 2 seasons more, but I still think he will go to real. It’s tough on Benzema though. He must be contender for player of the year and to do it so late in his career only to be replaced.

    I mean that!
All or most, the one’s that interest the media, of football teams are pretty much in the same boat, chained to the money.

Unbelievable really.

Clint… Bruno is amazing, I know I might be getting ahead of myself here, but I feel certain that he is the best CM I have ever seen play for NUFC (I didnt see Gazza play for us). He has it all, the attitude, the skill, the graft. He is simply on another level.

We could see a 442 with Wood Wilson up top. We could also see a few sentimental choices, players saying goodbye. Ideally I’d throw Anderson in. Give him two games.

I think we’ll beat Arsenal on Monday, I said that before last night and seeing them yesterday on top of their injuries and suspensions, then added to the fact Wilson and Trippier are back. There is no pressure on the team at all, the crowd has nothing to be nervous about and Wor flags have their biggest display ever. There is going to be a truly carnival atmosphere until the team get down to the business end of getting a result. It is going to be electric in there on Monday night.
    Wish I wasn’t here 🙂

I see DCL rumours are strong again this morning…

He’s probably the best header of a ball in the Prem and that is the one type of goal that can unlock even the best defences. But, he also scores tap ins, from passes into the channels, around the box and solo goals. Also very good at holding the ball up from punts or to feet.

And… proven he can do all of that in the Prem.

I think there are legs in the rumour and I’d be more than happy with him Wilson and Etikete.
