Newcastle were mired in the bottom three with just 5 points in the first 11 matches when Howe was appointed. He has guided Newcastle to safety aided by an incredible surge at the start of 2022.
Newcastle have a chance to match their highest points tally since the 2013/14 season with two wins in their final two matches. The rise since January, boosted by an excellent winter window, has been nothing short of astonishing.
Our Premier League fate was confirmed on Wednesday with Leeds falling to Chelsea. Newcastle will now try to finish this campaign by picking up results at home to Arsenal and at Burnley on the season’s final day.
Both matches are of significance at either end of the table. Arsenal hold a slim one point advantage over Tottenham for a Champions League place while Burnley are in a fight to remain in the division.
Eddie Howe, who won the Manager of the Month award for March, is up against some formidable competition in Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, Brentford’s Thomas Frank, and Crystal Palace’s Patrick Vieira.

My guess is Edwards is DOF/Sporting Director given how talented he is at sourcing players with Ashworth as Technical Director responsible for developing the infrastructure. Then someone else in as CEO.

Charles Martin Edwards (born 24 July 1945) is the former chairman of Manchester United, a position he held from 1980 until 2002. He now holds the position of honorary life president at the club and Director of Inview Technology Ltd

Comment #43Now we need shot of Harper for an actual academy director, and Shola for a real loan manager. Guessing that would be Ashworth’s remit.

It’s certainly a professional looking set up, definitely better than Man Utd’s clown car of glad handed knackers.

Wow, so that’s the top man of one of the worlds best clubs.
OK, anybody still questioning the ambitions of the owners take a look at that link IT just posted. PiF are paying absolute top dollar to get these men in place, probably the highest paid in the world in that position. That does not stink of a lack of ambition.
Just wow!!!

Highly professional and designed to be the best. Board employ the best in their field and back them with money, money , money. This is a real sign of ambition likely to terrify those clubs who feel it their right to win and control the premiership. BURY THEM!

Comment #56So is it confirmed that we are after Edwards? He’s one of the main reasons Liverpool are so good
He’s picked players like Mane and Salah where Klopp wanted other players who have not done as well elsewhere so he knows what he is doing
He’s also very friendly with Mr Howe!!! Worked together before so that would be amazing
We really need to be careful though we are in danger of being run like a proper footballing club

Comment #58I know that I am repeating myself a bit, but how what great work our owners do!!!. They seem to get every decision right, from getting the correct manager for the club, the right backroom team, the right people in leading roles like Edwards and Ashworth. All in all, amazing, just amazing.

Comment #59Eddie says it going to be emotional for some players when he tells them they aren’t part of his plans…
No more so than Lascelles.
I’m convinced he’ll be sold because a) he won’t be happy as a squad player and that’s what is now b) he isn’t the ball playing CB Howe wants and c) the Captaincy will be going to Trippier.
One thing is for certain…
If Lascelles goes and he comes back with the oppo to SJP he deserves one of the biggest ovations ever given to a former player.
As a young lad he blasted the attitude of senior players who gave jack shoit about the club, threatened to chin more than one in training, rallied and became a leader of the players who wanted to stay, led us to promotion and gave his all whenever he pulled on a B&W shirt.
Plus, he’s continued to sing Eddie’s praises even though he knows he’s no longer a first team choice.
Lascelles epitomised what us fans want to see in effort and dedication to the cause. I hope Eddie brings him on against Arsenal and that we recognise that it is his swansong and give him a magical reception.

Comment #62I really don’t get why Edwards would be appointed unless the Ashworth deal fell through. Because they both excel at doing the same job.
It doesn’t make sense that we would hire somone who is fantastic at one job only to have him do something he’s as good at.
Mickey knows his stuff though so does this mean Ashworth is out? If so I’d be gutted, he’s the real deal.

Comment #67On the away or 3rd strip(whatever it is) I fkinggggg love it. It’s completely different and a nice change from what we’d expect.
Pay zero attention to all the protestors with their fake outrage. Its EXACTLY like I said it was for the headdress issue back in January. They are not afraid of the offence it might cause or the association it might have. They are afraid of the integration and the normalisation of Saudi Arabia into Western culture it will create.
Because they know once that time comes they will have nothing left to base their arguments on. And once that happens were home and dry and their teams will never be able to compete with us ever again.

Comment #69So glad to see Howe nominated for MOTS. When you compare the job he’s done to the other contenders, I think he’s a clear winner. None were in a worse position than we were when Howe took over and none have done such an amazing turn around. I think it’s more impressive to turn us around than it is for an already well established team like Man City or Liverpool to just carry on doing well. Frank and Viera have done good jobs, but again not as much compared to what Howe took on and how he’s done his job.
He’s a clear winner to me.

Comment #77Clint there’s no worrying from me pal. It’s just a turn of phrase to create a discussion. Whoever they get I’ve 100% confidence they are brought in because they are the best option.
I’ve been wrong so many times in the last 4-5 months second guessing them. I’ve stopped foing that months ago.
But it will be interesting to see if both are being brought in and who will be talked with doing what.

Comment #80Mund , maybe we are overplaying the media reaction, based on the Daily Mail and Farage the buffoon?
I Still think its a two fingers from Amanda and Co. Clubs may honour the countries of their owners but it would be far easier not to play the Green and white ticket, than to play it.
Hopefully a few PL noses out of joint
