Saudi Golf Federation CEO Appointed As NUFC Director

Newcastle have appointed Majed Al Sorour, the CEO of Saudi Golf Federation, as a director. He is also an advisor to the Saudi Public Investment Fund, whose Governor, Yasir Al-Rumayyan is also on Newcastle’s board of directors.

The Mail is confirming the appointment which was recorded on the latest Companies House filing. Al Sorour has been spotted at St. James’ Park with Al-Rumayyan during his visits this season.

The Mail also confirmed that Newcastle’s away kit for next season will be white with green trim, which is similar to the Saudi National Football team. The Saudis did qualify for the 2022 World Cup, which will take place toward the end of this year.

There has been some criticism of Newcastle’s apparent decision to adopt the white and green shirt for next season. However, it seems a relevant color scheme due to PIF’s stake in the club.

Newcastle have yet to announce any new sponsorship deals. In an interview in November, Amanda Staveley revealed that the then-Premier League moratorium on related-party sponsorship deals was holding things up saying:

“It is in the Premier League’s hands, but we will be seeking to do sponsorship deals as fast as possible. The moratorium does not stop us from working on them, getting ready for that time now. So it is really important.

“Our concern is that the process the Premier League do is quick enough so after we close the moratorium we can get sponsorships out. Obviously, that’s a really important part of the process.”

However, no sponsorship deals have been announced but we can likely expect some before the start of the next campaign as Newcastle build toward an exciting future.

    Missed bus while typing (again)

Green and White. The corporate colours of our owners PIF.

No different to F1 cars decked out in the livery of their owners, Red Bull, Haas, Mercedes all paraded out in the corporate colours of their owners..

Just the usual moronic journo jerks who love the current “big6” and are terrified that we’re going to displace all of them, gradually, one by one, starting with Man U and Arsenal (the current weakest links) – then moving past Spurs and Chelsea (so sweet, 2 London clubs) and finally to get Liverpool and ManC in our sights. Loving it, their jealousy reeks from every pore and every word they write. …. Sod em all, we’re coming!

Aah he is Munster. I used to be a Lascelles fan, but he really does have some huge weakness when you compare him to the improved Schar or Burn.

It’s actually night and day. What he does do well though is clearing headers and his pace is a huge bonus to a defensive. But he doesn’t have it in the head or positioning, he constantly gets dragged out of position or mis-times tackles and gets left for dead.

It’s insane how much shakier and all round weaker we look when Lascelles is in the team and Schar is not.

Ok so catching up on a few things:

    – Our 3rd kits regardless of the politics, looks bland. That green kit Mind shared from Sheffield does look good!

    – I think Trakowski is just paper talk. If we replace Lascelles should with a ball playing CB and younger

    – Martin Edwards becoming CEO would be a promotion for him but doesn’t make sense to me. Transfer remit falls to Ashworth so the CEO is about running the entire business side including sponsorships, growth, finances, strategy, brand etc etc Martín Edwards doesn’t have experience in that though a phenomenal sporting director. I’d be surprised.

Dubai – did you read it or hear it from a direct source of yours?

    – Saudi Golf Chairman doesn’t mean the company can’t sponsor Newcastle, just that it can’t break “fair value” or equivalent values of other deals. What is equivalent is a whole other persoective

Ice seen it a few times being said now but I think it makes it pretty clear Saudi golf aren’t going to be our sponsors now with Al Sorour being officially amounted on the board.

I desperately want it to be Aramco personally, because it just looks so elite watching them as the major sponsor of F1. It would give us a little more street cred imo.

So a way less sexy topic but as a finance person also wondering when we get a new CFO? A forward looking strategic CFO could be important but the CEO should appoint

We still have the same Financial Controller and Head of Finance from the Ashley era and not blown away by their LinkedIn experience

    2nd verse,

    Green is the colour,
    Journos have their say,
    They hate the Saudis,
But we will have our day,
    Cause we are United
And now we’re on our way.

    3rd verse,

    Green is the colour
    Of our 2nd strip
It makes them green with envy,
That’s why they all let rip,
But we all love our owners
And we’re gunning for the Championship.

cleveleysbob – doesn’t have to have anything to do with the big 6 clubs mate. It’s just trash journos doing what trash journos do, which is make stuff up that gets peoples’ backs up and generates some attention. It’s a genuine nothing story. The only people who care are attention seeking journos or racist politicians plus obviously Toon fans on the other side who feel like our club and owners are under attack. We’re not under attack though, not by anyone who matters anyway.

Green kit only looks bland because their is no sponsorship or arm badges and numbers on it.

Those will make a huge difference, i reckon its going to be the nicest one when it comes to the market personally.

It’s mad to think that Schar was benched because the captain preferred to play alongside Clark.

It’s Michael Edwards not Martin. Two different people. One is a total maverick and the other is an old man who is over the hill and nothing special.

His transformation in the last 4 months has almost been as big as Joelintons. He looks absolutely irreplaceable atm.

Rob I think they white kit will look great. Leeds will probably go and I dont think there are too many white kits as second shirts? Put big Joel in it and it will pad it out, and a sponsor. That will stop it looking like a Sports Direct cheapo job

There isn’t a CEO production line.

They become CEO’s because they’ve excelled at another position.

For personal development in a Football club CEO would be the next step up for a successful DoF.

Munster we cant buy 4 Botmans smd expect half of them to stay on the bench.

We can definitely expect Tarkowski to stay on the bench.

You need to look at it from that point of view aswell like. We have to also buy good quality bench players, who are willing to work gor the team and accept they won’t start every game.

Looking at it from that standpoint, he’s about as good as we could hope to get for that role.
