New Away Shirt ‘Confirmed’ To Be Green And White

Earlier this week, a Twitter user named Ayça tweeted out leaked photos of the home and third kits for next season. The home shirt was a traditional black and white stripes with the third shirt being dark blue with gold trim.

Ayça has now tweeted a leaked image of the away kit. It is white with green trim which will not come as a surprise to many.

The Mail is confirming that this is in fact the away shirt for next season. It does reflect the influence of the Saudi PIF at the club. PIF’s governor, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, is a chairman at Newcastle and has attended a few of our games this season.

The fact that the shirt will be green and white will give some in the press another reason to criticize Newcastle United. However, that is something fans will have to get used to as the club rises back to prominence in the coming seasons.

It appears that these three leaked kits will adorn the lads for the 2022/23 season. Newcastle have two matches to close out this season with safety being confirmed on Wednesday evening.

The summer is shaping up to be a very exciting one. There will be much work to do before next season kicks off in August. What an exciting few months, and beyond, we could have ahead of us.

The Saudi third kit idea for #nufc was a stupid one and, quite honestly, the club deserve all the criticism coming their way over it. It was the manufacturer’s idea apparently but it’s been signed off by someone at the club. More to follow on

Confirmed by Luke Edwards? A man who takes more professional care in trolling Newcastle fans than journalism, his actual profession.

If it does indeed get confirmed by the club then they deserve all the pelters that will come their way for it.

Ridiculously stupid PR decision to use the KSA national colours this close to the takeover that has already caused controversy.

No matter what move they make it will get spun into a negative. They have attacked the owners on a personal and sickening level with the targeting Staveley and the way she looks to having Saudi ownership.

Foot then all mate they can cry and cry and cry for me.

Stick it to the lot of them

It will no doubt sell like hot cakes in Saudi Arabia, but at the cost of courting more negative press at a time when the club is trying to change it’s image in the local community etc.

Something like this will always be used as a counter narrative to all the charitable work, improvements to the women’s team etc.

    Money over morals this.

    Mund,

If they use the Saudi colours for the away shirt it won’t be spinning anything, the negative press will be justified.

PIF is meant to be independent to the government. This move would suggest otherwise to me. It could do more harm than good, for the sake of a few million quid.

    White and green Saudi Colours?

    So what?

For that strip i’d rub the naysayers noses in it and spell the players names in Arabic script !

Some people really need to get over themselves

Now, if it has been red and white strips that would have be another matter altogether. We gave up those colours a long time ago.

    Mund,

It’s not a bit much at all though mate. That’s the absolute truth of football. Every club is the same.

The difference is the eyes are firmly on us right now. You have one hand showing the development and work with the women’s football team, and the other promoting an away strip showing Saudi colours, where women are treated terribly.

I know the argument will be they are working to change in KSA, but as of right now things are still rubbish for women over there.

Daft decisions like this will undermine all the hardwork the club is trying to do in improving it’s public image and developing the community as it acts as a reminder of who PIF are owned by.

This is a purely financially motivated decision, the possible blow back has not even been considered.

From a personal perspective I’ve always thought that we should always play in no colours apart from black and white.

As an alternative to the stripes we could have all black, all white, and also mix and match tops if needed

Such an interesting, exciting summer ahead, although being linked with every player in the world may get a bit tiresome.

    We ideally need

    Left back
    Centre back
    Central midfielder
    Winger
    Striker

    Nice to have, a keeper

    Assume Targett for left back
    Centre back, N’Dicka
    Midfield, Puqueta
    Winger, Raphinha
    Striker, Isak

That would cost a lot but we need to avoid Calvert-Lewin I think, he could be a decent signing but he could also be like Wilson and miss at least a third of the season

Brennan Johnson would be a good signing if Forest don’t come up.

Anderson could potentially become part of the squad and compete with Saint-Maximin and Fraser for a place on the left.

I get the feeling Almiron will be sold, decent player, great work rate but we need someone who will bring more assists and goals to the side.

The Saudis have already made huge changes to how women are treated over there with strong rumours of a Saudi women’s team.

No matter what the club does it will be scrutinised by the watching media and we have seen how low they will go with the things they have said.

Should the owners walk on eggshells forever? Nah fck them all mate. Sick of it

    Small world.

Home: Black and white – any variation there of.
Away: Burgundy and blue hoops – no exceptions, every year for all years hence forth.

Third – The deck chair strip from the champ as it must be very distracting for the opposition.

Goalies should forever where the sunset strip from years ago – no exceptions.

These are the only acceptable options.

Not forever, but certainly wait until the good they have done for the club and community outweighs the negativity. Doing it now just resets the clock.

When you can say, look what they have done for the grassroots in the North East, look at the charitable work, look at the women’s team, look at all the jobs this has created in the North East etc, then drop a Saudi away kit in.

And lets be honest, that strip is absolutely sh*te anyway. Zero effort has gone into it.

They weren’t in Ukraine at the start of this season tbf. If Abramovich is still the owner in August and they turned out in a Russian inspired away strip we both know it would definitely kick off. It’s not even debatable, the press would have a field day.

    Mund,

The FAs clock as well – They allowed the sale because we had their pants down over their lack of objectivity. They will look for any reason to stick it to us in favour of the big six.

Using Saudi colours gives them a stick to beat us with – “Oh so you must be influenced by the Saudi government then PIF”. All that red tape will take up so much time and effort and deviate from the work they actually want and need to be doing.

My issue with the kit, if it is going to be our away shirt, is that it’s boring.

I liked the home shirt this season (apart from the sponsor logo making the infamous ‘4’) as it was a bit different with the collar and it’s finishing details. It looks smart.

I wore a shirt very similar to this for my Saturday 5 a-side team 15 years ago. It’s just a bit plain and boring. Can’t imagine it took longer than 5 minutes to come up with.

You say that now, but once Putin crawls back in his hole you never know who the next big bad wolf might be.

You’re probably right in that there are too many strategic partnerships between the governments but you never know.
