Two Injured Defenders Spotted In Friday’s Training Session

On Friday, Newcastle released some images of training ahead of Monday’s match against Arsenal at St. James’ Park. The images can be seen here.

The excellent news is that Fabian Schar is back in training after coming off early against Liverpool a few weeks ago. The 30-year-old missed the trip to The Etihad last Sunday with what was diagnosed as a minor foot injury.

The defender is now back in training and presumably in contention to face the Gunners. Jamaal Lascelles came back into the fold at Manchester City with Fabian unavailable.

Eddie Howe revealed during Thursday’s press conference that Ryan Fraser is back in training. The winger has been sidelined since injuring his hamstring against Wolves over a month ago.

Ryan was spotted in Friday’s images and could also make his return on Monday. Federico Fernandez, who missed the trip to Manchester City with a slight Achilles problem was also seen in the training photos giving Howe plenty of options at center-back.

Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier were also present after they made their triumphant returns from long-term injuries last Sunday. Howe is approaching their involvement against Arsenal cautiously as they push to return to the starting eleven.

Youngster Jay Turner-Cooke continues to train with the first team with both Jonjo Shelvey and Joe Willock ruled out for the final two matches. The 18-year-old joined Newcastle in January of 2020 and is getting some valuable experience with the senior squad.

Ha ha Rotty you muppet, you haven’t a clue. Couldnt see past rafa, couldn’t accept any criticism of him. How mad does that look now? So you’re in no position to judge anything, you got so over focussed on him that you got cross eyed. Ha ha, how did he do after us again? 🙂

Understand Renan Lodi is a player Newcastle have looked at & could potentially form part of their summer plans. 15-times capped Brazilian international left-back. Newcastle have already done business of late with Atletico for fellow full-back Kieran Trippier #NUFC

Looks like it will be Lodi at LB and looking strong to start next season with Athletico’s two starting fullbacks.

    Blows my mind

Thankfully the WC coincides with a mid season break.

However, the following season may have issues, although we’ll have a much better squad by then (3 x windows away). 😀

God almighty, Just catching up on all things Toon.
Never thought a kit could cause so much disagreement.
But I understand both sides, I don’t like white kits period, they are annoying when you get a stain on them.
Has this kit 100% been approved?

For myself if you buy it you buy it, if you choose not to then that’s also your choice.
I just don’t agree with people telling others not to buy it and then in turn people telling other they should.

Let’s put this another way, it’s a fcuking shirt, purchase or don’t. Simple really.

Ive still got an old Brazil top from way back when, hanging up with dozens of old tops just gathering dust.
If we get Lodi and Paqueta ( imo the latter is a cert) , ile be wearing it for a bit of a laugh, but also making a statement indirectly, with the message, `if you thought the KK days were good, you ain`t seen nothing yet`.

Lodi has been used as a bit part player in and out of the team throughout his time there, and a Mozambique international signed from Lille has come in Jan as a replacement, which saw him start playing more advanced at LW.

Obviously needs a move. Would like to see a journo dig deeper on his story at Atletico.

Still, 24yo Brazil international looking to get back in the World Cup reckoning, already bags of experience at a high level, coming to The Toon and linking up with his old pal Bruno. Exciting stuff.

Will be interested to see the reported fee if it does go ahead.

On my wish list I had it down as £30m, looking more into his recent history at Atletico I don’t think it would be quite that high, but who knows.

It’s always a risk signing these youngsters from other leagues so many come over here and flop

Like is he as good Martial at Man Utd? Seems like a similar kind of signing be interesting to see what how he does

Get the impression from a quick skim of Atleti fan comments, Lodi does his best work going forward and needs work defensively. They don’t want him to leave generally.

Lodi’s last match from past weekend – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_MrOrLgSzM

1 assist and almost another immediately after.

Apparently he had a bit of a spat with his GK Oblak during this match too.

Spiv sports must be frightened of losing viewers for the Sheffield v Forrest play offs.
Starting with a ridiculous introduction “the championship play offs, there’s nothing like it in football”
Really? Errr what about a certain cup final soon to ko and watched by millions around the world?…errr what about a little competition called champions league final? Err what about Texaco Cup final? …Spiv sports..you know we’re crap.
