On Friday, Newcastle released some images of training ahead of Monday’s match against Arsenal at St. James’ Park. The images can be seen here.
The excellent news is that Fabian Schar is back in training after coming off early against Liverpool a few weeks ago. The 30-year-old missed the trip to The Etihad last Sunday with what was diagnosed as a minor foot injury.
The defender is now back in training and presumably in contention to face the Gunners. Jamaal Lascelles came back into the fold at Manchester City with Fabian unavailable.
Eddie Howe revealed during Thursday’s press conference that Ryan Fraser is back in training. The winger has been sidelined since injuring his hamstring against Wolves over a month ago.
Ryan was spotted in Friday’s images and could also make his return on Monday. Federico Fernandez, who missed the trip to Manchester City with a slight Achilles problem was also seen in the training photos giving Howe plenty of options at center-back.
Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier were also present after they made their triumphant returns from long-term injuries last Sunday. Howe is approaching their involvement against Arsenal cautiously as they push to return to the starting eleven.
Youngster Jay Turner-Cooke continues to train with the first team with both Jonjo Shelvey and Joe Willock ruled out for the final two matches. The 18-year-old joined Newcastle in January of 2020 and is getting some valuable experience with the senior squad.
