A new target has landed on Newcastle’s shortlist. Mark Douglas, with inews, is reporting that a member of Eddie Howe’s staff watched Nice striker Amine Gouiri, a French U21 international, earlier this month.
The 22-year-old old has been dubbed the new Karim Benzema by some. While that is a lofty comparison, Gouiri is a budding talent who has turned in two very productive seasons at the Allianz Riviera.
Gouiri joined Nice two summers ago from Lyon for just over £6m. He has made 83 appearances with 28 goals and 17 assists. The forward is entering the final two years of his contract and is worth around £30m.
Douglas believes Benfica’s Darwin Nunez and Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin continue to top Howe’s shortlist. However, Gouiri could become a serious target should Newcastle be priced out of moves for the duo.
Flamengo’s Gabriel Barbosa, Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah, and Leeds’ Patrick Bamford have all been named as potential options recently. Former targets Patrik Schick of Leverkusen and Moussa Dembele of Lyon have not hit the radar recently despite coming off prolific seasons.
Steve Nickson was at the training ground on Wednesday so targets may have been discussed. Newcastle are expected to aim high with much of the summer budget being geared toward a striker or two.
A return for Hugo Ekitike is also on the agenda. The Reims striker just recently recovered from a hamstring injury that had sidelined him since February. A move tor the 19-year-old collapsed on January’s deadline day.
Newcastle are being linked with some outstanding young strikers. Nunez is the cream of the crop and just 22-years-old, like Gouiri. However, he is twice the price of the Frenchman which could come into play this summer.

TBH I don’t know. Back in those years there was no football on tv except for the Bundesliga once a week on public tv. I watched because it was all I had. I just assumed he was at the end because I believe he left Liverpool to play for Hamburg. I’ll have to research it when I have the time.

Gobbing and shiting at the same time eh?…thats a rare talent

Comment #14There was loud noises coming out about how Lampard was tactically inept during his Chelsea time as manager. I full believe that based on his time at Everton so far.
They’ve got some results down to the team showing fight and energy, getting in peoples faces etc. But never looks like there’s any tactics on show. They’re all over the place with no organisation or clear game plan other than just high energy.

Comment #17It honestly really reminds me of the dark days under Bruce when we’d somehow get a win. No clear tactics but sometimes the team would put a good shift in energy wise and get a bit of luck. Very similar to how Everton seem to be under Lampard, only they sometimes put in more of a shift.

I know mate. Unbelievable. It’s one of my best if not best of all famous movie quotes and for that exact reason.
Method actors mate, the best.
Daniel Day Lewis is up there as one of the best and not far behind Pacino as my all time fave. There was a interview I remember Stephen Graham had (another incredible English actor) and he was talking about on set for Gangs of New York and how DDL was Bill the Butcher in and outside of takes and during a break he was playing a card game called shithead (brilliant card game) and DDL came over after the scene were he is sat there with the American flag draped over him and sat down and played a game of cards as Bill the Butcher 😆 brilliant that.

Comment #34Aye, Rutger Hauer. Really underrated actor.
Obviously he thought of the lines beforehand, but he came up with them just prior, told nobody and used them instead of the script as he transcends to become “more human than human” in death.
He died the same year his character Roy Batty ‘expires’ in the film too, which is a bit spooky.

Duncan Ferguson would have done a better job than Frank Lampard. If I remember correctly he once stand in and helped Everton steadied the ship.
