Newcastle have deals in place for two priority targets if recent reports are to be believed. Agreements have been reached with Reims for Hugo Ekitike as well as with Lille for Sven Botman.
The decisions are currently in the hands of the players with Ekitike potentially being confirmed next week. Reims’ president Jean-Pierre Caillot has confirmed a deal is in place between the clubs.
Newcastle are now hashing out terms with Ekitike’s advisors with most local journalists not expecting any late hiccups. Newcastle had a similar deal agreed on in January before the 19-year-old pulled the plug on deadline day.
An agreement for Sven Botman has been reached by both Newcastle and AC Milan for around £26m. The 22-year-old is waiting on the Rossoneri to come back to the table after spending the past few months in constant dialogue.
The Serie A champions have yet to commit to the deal and will reportedly make a decision next week. Their technical director Paolo Mandini recently admitted Milan were looking at different options.
If AC Milan choose to not move forward for Botman, that would clear the pathway to Newcastle. However, his preference for the San Siro over St. James’ Park may not sit well with some.
Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby is also a priority target. However, negotiations for the 22-year-old do not appear to be as advanced. Diaby is currently with the French national team and recently said a decision on his future is not imminent.
The Chronicle published the following from Diaby a few days ago:
“It’s nice to hear my name being linked to big clubs, but I’m focused on getting together to do good things here [with France].
“Then we will see what happens but, right now, I’m not thinking about it too much.”

GOAL – Armenia 1-0 Republic of Ireland
Eduard Spertsyan
Against the run of play!
The Iravan City Stadium erupts as Armenia take the lead in the second half.
The visitors sit off Eduard Spertsyan who makes strides forward, dancing left and right and turning Jeff Hendrick inside out.
Spertsyan then has a go from range and it’s hit with perfection, clipping the post and landing in the back of the net.
Caoimhim Kelleher had no chance!”

Comment #105Where Did The Strange Expression “Hair Of The Dog” Come From?
What does hair of the dog mean?
A morning drink may be the last thing you want after a night of boozing, but that’s exactly what this quirky English expression means. Originally, the expression referred to a method of treating a rabid dog bite; hair from the dog was placed in the wound. So in that sense, having another drink (any drink) is like taking hair from the dog that bit you.
(By the way, medical professionals do not prescribe alcoholic drinks to treat the symptoms of a hangover. However, they do encourage drinking water and getting rest.)

Comment #107What does the name Bloody Mary mean?
Many suffering from the morning-after blues indulge in a Bloody Mary as a hangover cure. This savory cocktail contains vodka, tomato juice, and other flavorings such as horseradish, celery salt, lemon juice, and Tabasco sauce.
There are as many versions of the Bloody Mary as there are theories regarding who the drink is named after, with beliefs ranging from Queen Mary I, to the actress Mary Pickford, to a waitress in Chicago who worked at a bar called the Bucket of Blood.
One cure for the hangover with a 100% success rate? Drink soda instead of alcohol the night before.

Comment #112Rom, from last night, sorry for the late reply, but a bit too p…..d to make much sense.
Basically holiday consists of lounging about all day recovering from night before, then going out again for food and drink and getting “mashed” again.
It’s the circle of life. 😀
Done all the touring, travelling, site seeing stuff in past. Can’t be arsed now, just eat drink and lounge around giving the old tan a top up. 1st trip since June 2019 as everything since got cancelled. C’est La vie. 🙂

Yeah I’m relaxed about the incoming transfers this summer as well, faith in the recruitment team as they seem to have their eye on top players who are in form around Europe, the Porto GK being an example.

Comment #120We shouldn’t be too over-reliant on Wilson. He always gets injured. He has 2 good games in 10. I would let him go for £20m and sign 4 strikers. Wood and Gayle are no use.
