Newcastle Agree On Fee And Personal Terms For Teenager – Report

Newcastle are edging closer to their second Academy signing of the summer. Yesterday, it was reported by The Telegraph that Newcastle had won the race for Kilmarnock center-back Charlie McArthur.

The Athletic’s George Caulkin and Jacob Whitehead are reporting that an agreement has been reached with Kilmarnock for the 17-year-old for £350,000. Personal terms have also been agreed with McArthur, who can sign up to a three-year deal.

McArthur will be the third capture of the window behind Galway United defender Alex Murphy and Matt Targett, whose purchase option was triggered earlier this month. Murphy will link up with the U23s in July.

It’s unclear what level McArthur will begin at. He only turned 17 in May but may be ready for the U23s having made his debut for Kilmarnock already. He is also the current captain of Scotland’s U17s.

Newcastle have fended off some elite competition for McArthur’s signature. No fewer than five Premier League clubs were after the youngster including both Liverpool and Manchester City.

Newcastle failed to add to the youth set-up in January as they focused on getting the senior squad suited for a charge up the table. The narrow focus paid off as Newcastle were transformed after January rising from the bottom three to 11th in the table.

    Raj

When someone agrees with me on here or defends what I say, why do you feel the need to say something to them…?

You are rather a strange sort fella.

Nayef Aguerd had still not arrived at Rush Green as of 1pm, however it doesn’t mean he didn’t arrive at some point this afternoon.

West Ham are expecting his arrival, hence why they setup an interview area with cameras for the player upon his arrival. #WHUFC

No real reason for it but I’ve got a feeling we’ll only bring 2 or 3 quality players in and then add some younger players.

    Mund,
I was speaking with another poster. Nothing to do with you. By all means counter what I said but my conversation with someone else has nothing to do with you.

Its great to see Maxi do the work in that video, I hope so much to see someone like Diaby on the other wing and Maxi to hit his best form to give us two very dangerous wingers for the opposition to worry about.

If Bissouma is worth £25mil with 1 year left, then Joelinton is £60mil and Bruno £70mil at least…….

Wow, that is what is wrong with that club. Paul Pogba complains Man U offered him ‘nothing’
They’d offered him £290K 3.5% more than what he was on. What a shite house.

Signing top quality young players means nothing if we don’t get in a super top quality coach to oversee them and not the usual ‘hasbeens’ and ‘neverweres’ with past associated links to our club.
We have to start massively upgrading our coaching staff below the first team or it will all just be a waste of time.
