More Conflicting Claims Emerge On Ekitike

Despite claims from France that Hugo Ekitike is stalling his proposed move to Newcastle, local reports remain somewhat more upbeat. In fact, there is an update from Sky Sports today that the transfer could be completed soon.

Keith Downie is reporting that personal terms are close to being agreed on. If that happens, the 19-year-old would then fly to Newcastle for a medical next week.

It’s becoming unhealthy to put too much stock in any one report at the moment. That is the same with updates on Sven Botman. Both sagas have swung like a pendulum over the past few weeks.

The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has responded to this recent update. He doesn’t believe anything has fundamentally changed on either Ekitike or Botman. Though he does believe both players are keen to join.

Time will tell whether Ekitike or Botman will finally arrive at Newcastle. At this point, it may be best to wait until we get some stealthy photographs of the players arriving for medicals before getting too excited.

I reckon the best chance to get Bale is to have Lee Westwood (adopted Geordie) invite him to play at Close House. Should seal the deal and also explain why maybe we shouldn’t be going for him.

Depends on whether he want success in football terms or get his golf handicap down to scratch.

As much as Gazza is an idiot, it is hard to dislike him. Some of his behaviour has been reprehensible, it is clear his alcoholism has played a big part in that.

Sting is as tight as a nuns nicker leg. If he was to become in writing something -a new Toon song – he would want paying for it.

Good idea though a new song or new lyrics for a old local song – would be great.

I think any more for Bale from us is a non-starter. I think one of our main transfer aims is to retain control of our wage structure and I can’t imagine Bale would come to any club other than Cardiff for significantly reduced wages. The man is on over £500k a week at Madrid, it would surely take at least c.£200k p/w to bring him to the PL which would make him significantly our highest earner.

If we could nab him for £100k p/w then it would be a fantastic addition in terms of standard-setting, leadership, winning mentality, and I’m sure he’s got some juice left to provide on the field too.

I just don’t see any of those stars aligning where he comes to Newcastle, nor do I see it as sensible to even go for it. Just my humble opinion mind you.

Do not have many memories of Gazza… just the euro 96.

Not far to think it was the most beautifull english team in the last 30 years.

Gazza could of and should of went down as one of the GOAT but his injury record ruined that. One of the greatest players England has ever produced. Wonderful footballer.

Unfortunately Gazza’s ‘injury’ record wasn’t just down to injury. Bad management from his advisors and poor life choices, like George Best I suppose.

Georges Best… he had such good jokes!

“If I had to choose between dribbling past 5 players and scoring from 40 yards at Anfield or sha***** miss world, it’d be a hard choice. Thankfully, i’ve done both!”

“I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.”

“In 1969 I gave up women and alcohol – it was the worst 20 minutes of my life.”

“Derby’s pre-season is set to start on Monday and the club have just five first-team players contracted for next season because of restrictions put on them – stopping them making signings or offering new deals to players they already have – as a result of the financial turmoil.

The five – Krystian Bielik, Max Bird, Jason Knight, Louie Sibley and Jack Stretton – does not include a goalkeeper or any defenders.

Thirteen first-team players are out of contract on 30 June, while goalkeeper Ryan Allsop has already joined Cardiff.

No pre-season fixtures have been confirmed by the club, before their first season back in England’s third division since 1986, and it is not known who will pay the club’s June wages.

BBC Sport understands the administrators are likely to seek more external funding to allow them to pay those wages.”

Only came on to back Mund as nobody else is brave enough to.
It was asked on the blog last night if we would do things differently r e Wood.
Mund stated his opinion and I came on with mine, Jail responded once to me but nobody else did and I replied and wasn’t questioned.
Why in that case did 3-4 posters start demanding an explanation for his opinion (which was asked for and he obliged).
To be balanced I don’t get the gripe between Mund and Adamn as it’s minor details they disagree on and Adamn in my opinion is probably one of the best bloggers on here.
The Mund and Jail carry on has been going on for years and the pair of them goad each other daily.
Les coming on with his daily diatribe everyday against Mund is beyond tedious.
But the Mund / Ruddy thing is something else all together.
Ruddy you very rarely post on here but when you do you seem to have Mund in your crosshairs. Constantly on and on at him, last word blah de blah. How old are you by the way? As your moniker suggests someone in their early thirties but you post like a 70 year old. What I would say is if you dislike Mund’s posts so much, skip right by them. It ain’t hard fella.

Whilst Etikite looks to be a skillful player on the deck I cannot locate any info/data as to his heading abilities. Anybody any ideas.

He is 6’3″ tall so he should be able to challenge for high balls.

Clearly if we get him -it means that Chris Wood is going to be redundant.

Man City smart enough to have a buy-back option for Gavin Bazunu. If he proves to be an outstanding Premier League keeper then they’ll have a nice back-up for Ederson in a few years time, or even his replacement if he’s truly exceptional.

    DrGloom,
What on earth do you mean you agree with Mund in principle???? Anyone with a brain in their head knows he won’t play much, we know that, he is a squad player more useful than Gayle, imo. Nobody said he was great, he just doesn’t deserve to be called sh!t. Can you please explain what you agree with in principal.
