Newcastle Could Now See Yet Another Deal Delayed Indefinitely – Report

Another week is coming to a close without any imminent breakthroughs in the transfer market. Newcastle have just one senior signing on board as Matt Targett’s purchase option was triggered last week.

Two potential deals are currently at a standstill. It’s unclear what’s going on with Sven Botman but Hugo Ekitike is apparently stalling on his move to Tyneside due to interest from other clubs.

Dortmund has been consistently credited with an interest in Ekitike. A report from RMC Sport in France now claims PSG have signaled their interest in the Frenchman.

PSG are undergoing some changes and have recently hired Luis Campos as sporting director. They are also in the process of replacing manager Mauricio Pochettino with Nice’s Christophe Galtier.

The report suggests an official move for Ekitike will be delayed until the new manager is in place. If the young striker is waiting for PSG to make their intentions clear, that could drag this process out indefinitely.

Personal terms and a fee have been agreed upon according to this report. That has also been reported by local journalists, who believe Ekitike is keen on coming to Tyneside.

PSG have also been linked with Sven Botman in the French press. There doesn’t appear to be too much in that at the moment. So hopefully, that turns out to be the case for Ekitike as well.

PSG have been in talks to sign Hugo Ekitike but are waiting to appoint a new coach before proceeding.

Newcastle are now looking for a plan B while the player stalls and decides his next club.

Sure mistakes happen, but there’s something rotten in this Ekitiké story.

So i will do the only reasonable thing about it: will shut my mouth.

Munster is right, if this deal and the Botman one ultimately end up not happening, we risk having egg on our face a bit. As they’ve both been in the public eye so heavily, not getting them done after a January attempt and now a summer drawn out attempt, it wouldn’t look too good. Nothing against the owners for that, as they clearly rate these 2 players and want them in. But it’s got to be close to final decision time now you’d think? Are you 2 coming or not, yes or no and if it’s a no or unsure, then time to move on.

Tyran… You are talking about two different things here.

In Regards to McNeil and Cornet, i have seen Them play with my own eyes and im not impressed. Thats My opinion, and it aint more right or wrong than yours, just different.

The other thing is the reports you refer to. They stated that Howe was behind this transfer, not Nickson. I love Howe as our manager and I honestly wouldnt change him for any other in the world right now. But if these are players he want, then I dont trust him to make transfer decision just yet. It seems easy, unoriginal and very short sighted for where we have ambitions to go

What do you mean doesn’t look to good? Why and what doesn’t? Why would we have egg in our face…?

We are right at the beginning of our journey and it’s going to be hard to convince players of great quality to come here. It’s not like we are 5 years in were players will jump at the chance of being here, it’s right at the start and during this time we will have difficulties and issues with players.

No egg on our faces as the owners are clearly trying to bring in next level players at a club who’s only remit last season was to stay in the PL.

Whatever happens with Ekitike and Botman…not chowed!
We’ll eventually get players in, players that wanna be here, that will fight for a place, the team, the badge, the fans and city.

    They’ll fit the brief.
Like many have said in recent months…it will take time.
    Ahem!
More than a few months. Clock watching slows time down…if ya wanna slow it down, check it!
Under the radar signings suit me just fine.
    Press expectations blow!
    Forget what others ‘think’.

Who thought Eddie could get our present team playing?
Not the gonks, that’s for sure.

    Most of us didn’t!

If the likes of Jesus wanna go to the arse, more fool them. If they wanna come here, they’re prepared to fight, not expect!

    Howay the Lads!!!

I think I explained my reasoning in my post? Because they are 2 players we were after in January, which got dragged out a bit and they didn’t come. So if we have a repeat of that this window, where we are after them again and ultimately they don’t come, then it looks a bit like egg on our face. As we spent an extended time in 2 different windows trying to sign 2 players and persuade them to join, only to fail at it twice.

This is only IF it drags on this window and they don’t join. If it drags on and they ultimately end up joining, or they join soon then happy days. But if it drags and they both don’t, that’s where I think it looks a bit like egg on our face.

Nothing against the owners. Fully trust them to have an amazing transfer window. But these 2 deals not happening in 2 different windows would be a slightly bad look to the outside world and potentially make other players think twice.

I don’t agree at all. The owners won’t look bad if Botman or Ekitike don’t sign and players across the world will look at the likes of Bruno and his success here not the fact we didn’t sign two players. It’s not like it’s these players or bust. There is plenty of talent out there that can take us forward and if Botman and Ekitike don’t sign then it’s their loss not ours.

There will be no egg on anybody’s face

I still have my boots in a box in the garage under my 1979 Battle annual, I can turn out against Forest if we are short at the back – somehow I think we will be fine 😉

Exactly my point, why would you trust the report saying it’s only Howe’s decision? I’m not talking about players quality at this point anymore, cause it’s personal judgement. Let’s hear about your trust value. Why you trust a random report stating it is solely Howe’s decision to bring these players in. But you don’t trust Howe judgement of players even though he had succeeded mutliple times in bringing lesser players in and had them playing well.

Ofm……Milan doesn’t have a project to offer as such.
When City and PSG started their project do u think players didn’t want to join because of it? Hardly.
Tripps has said on numerous occasions that the project here was a big factor.
He spoke in depth about it.
So has Bruno, BDB, Targett etc
Even Botman said in Jan he wanted to be part of the project because it was like City and PSG when they had their new owners it was intriguing.
If a player is put off from joining us it has nothing to do with any project it’s the fact we don’t have European football at the moment.
We are going to be one of the best-run and biggest clubs on the planet and to say that is putting players off is a load of crap imo in the short or long term.

That’s fair enough. I’m only speaking very exclusively and specifically about one potential outcome; Botman and Ekitike deals dragging on a bit and ultimately not happening.

Which may not be the outcome that happens at all, so may not even be a thing to worry about. I just feel if that potential outcome does end up happening, it’s surely got to be more a bad look than a good look, right? Not getting 2 players in 2 separate attempts in 2 separate windows is never going to exactly be a good look.

I’ve said many times already that it’s not like these are the only promising young players out there, so I trust we’ll get as good if not better alternatives. Which is what I hope we’re actively perusing as we speak.

I don’t think our owners look bad or will look bad. Just that one very specific outcome wouldn’t be a particularly good look and a bit ‘egg on face’.

I don’t agree with TOF that it looks like amateur hour. These are 2 deals that i’m absolutely not going to judge our entire window on as there’s still so much of the window left and think we’ll have a fantastic transfer window.

PSG for a young French player… or NUFC.

AC Milan for a young for a young Dutch player… or NUFC.

It’s not as if they are English and want to stay in this country and already know and understand the passion and support of our fans.

    As others have rightly said…

We shouldn’t expect players to have the same excitement and expectations that we fans have about the takeover and journey we are starting out on.

No egg at all on our faces if they don’t come.

There would be egg on it if we didn’t even try or gave up easily.

Whatever happens with these two, we’ll massively improve the squad with new signings this window.

    THAT is for defo.

Botman and Ekitike will be wearing the egg, not the owners.

Will will 100% have a list of alternatives to our top targets and this will of been done and decided before the season ended.

The club really wants these two lads and it’s still early doors in the window so I guess they feel there is no rush but I can’t imagine this won’t be going on much longer as even the owners will of had enough.

I’ve said previously the same about these overseas players not understanding the passion we have as fans of this club. Id imagine they will know very little of us and the club. So like you say it’s not a surprise when your battling with Milan one of Europe’s all time top clubs and Serie A champions the season just gone and to add to the mix PSG. These are the clubs we will be batting with and it’s not going to be easy.

I don’t know if I agree that the players will, they will have moved to the clubs they preferred so don’t see why that would be having egg on their face. They will have got exactly what they wanted, whereas we won’t have.

All I mean is that we will have gone after 2 players 2 times in 2 windows and not got them. Which surely is more of a bad look than good look?

We will have a fantastic window with or without these 2 players, I have no doubt.
