Newcastle seem to have had another blow in the transfer market as Atalanta have triggered their £18m purchase option on Juventus defender Merih Demiral. Multiple outlets reported early in the week that Newcastle had made an approach for the 24-year-old

The Chronicle is reporting that Newcastle turned down the chance to sign the Turkish international. Lee Ryder does state that sources in Italy think Atalanta may pawn off Demiral for a profit. However, at the moment Newcastle don’t appear to be considering that.
Here is what Ryder writes in his report:
Sources in Italy say that this doesn’t necessarily mean that this spells the end in Newcastle’s interest as the purchase of the centre-back is deemed as a piece of shrewd business by the Bergamo club and he could be sold on for a profit. Yet, for now at least, Newcastle are looking elsewhere.
Newcastle have, in the recent past, bought a player who had just joined a club permanently after a loan spell. Emil Krafth came on board from Amiens in the summer of 2019 for £5.5m. The French club had just signed Emil permanently for half that amount a few months earlier.
Atalanta could be hoping Newcastle, or other clubs, come in for the defender for a quick profit. That doesn’t strike me as likely under our new ownership group, who have shown they will not be taken advantage of in the market.

Comment #6Bissouma is a great player who should only improve at Spurs with better players around him – particularly with someone who can actually stick the ball in the net. Something Brighton have struggled with. He hasn’t reached his full potential yet at £25m is a good price.

Comment #8Wonder if the club have announced such things like membership dates. As season tickets will be snapped by those who stood with the club through all of the darkness, and rightly so imo.

Come to think of it, you are right. Bissouma with a better team, will give him more freedom going forward and attack. He does have the engine and skill.

Comment #17Was a great story about Gazza Tom. I am from Wallsend and also had something similar happen. Playing on same pitch at Wallsend Sports Centre with a friend (just knocking ball to each other and shooting), Steve Watson rocked up and joined in for us to do some 1v1 with someone in goal. Great fun. He was in the year below me at school and was decent ?

You gannin on a sesh?
You gonna get pissed
Ya mad Socialist?
You gonna paint the town red?
Or stay in instead
And invite a comrade
For vodka lemonade
Maybe have a discussion
Over a nice White Russian
And a bottle of red
Before retiring to bed
Enjoy your day, you’re an ok guy
And keep the red flag flying high!

Comment #23From earlier thread, if available to get, Hojberg would be amazing for us for where we are in our journey. Proven top-4 centre mf that makes Tottenham tick. It would definitely strengthen our mf.
