Newcastle Could Benefit As Milan Struggle For Another Lille Target

There is some intriguing news emerging this weekend that could benefit Newcastle’s pursuit of Sven Botman. It is being reported in France and Italy that AC Milan have not been able to reach an agreement on another Lille target in midfielder Renato Sanches.

The following tweet roughly translates to:

Negotiations are underway between PSG and Renato Sanches’ entourage. The Capital club has just launched the operation to secure the services of the LOSC midfielder. The discussions are progressing, with the advisor Luis Campos.

Like with Botman, Milan had been the frontrunner for the Portuguese international. It’s a familiar story as the 24-year-old had his heart set on the San Siro and was waiting for an agreement to be reached with Lille.

PSG have swooped in and are now in pole position to land the talented midfielder. Luis Campos has recently been appointed as an advisor at PSG. He signed Sanches when he was Lille’s sporting director in 2019.

Milan have not raised their initial offer for the player with PSG now outbidding the Serie A champions. The same situation has occurred with Botman, who Campos also brought to Lille two summers ago.

Botman has been linked with PSG but they have yet to make an offer. What benefits Newcastle is that AC Milan appear to be struggling in the market due to their takeover. It is negatively impacting their ability to sign their targets.

Calciomercato is reporting Milan’s sporting director Paolo Maldini, whose contract expires next week, is now considering not signing an extension due to the setbacks for both Botman and Sanches. Months of work have been put into the deal with the club not willing, or able, to match other offers on the table.

If Milan are out of the picture for Botman, it should help Newcastle land their top defensive target. There are conflicting reports on whether Newcastle have an agreement with Lille. This upcoming week should provide more clarity and hopefully, PSG don’t jump in like they have for Sanches

Eddie is back from his holidays some time in the next week. Perhaps we will see some movement next week when Eddie is back.

Newcastle do have an interest in Moussa Diaby and it is genuine, the player wants to make the next step. He’s sellable, Fee around €60-70M. PSG also interested. No offers yet.@Plettigoal #NUFC #Newcastle

Psg surely have shot their lot on mbappe where ffp stands, also have you seen how many players Everton are linked with? How can they keep spending and we get jumped on for a 90m spend in January?

We should buy that lad from Santos and let him stay there another year, same thing with the Portuguese lad @ Braga. Buy them both, loan them to existing clubs for another year developing, then bring them here next Summer. We’ll all have to learn Portuguese at this rate 😀

Darnik in fairness nobody jumped on us from an FFP perspective for spending 90mill. It was more a case of “let’s besmirk Eddie Howe’s record by saying that he spent plenty to save nufc, and Bruce didn’t.

We should just wrap up Botman and Ekitike this week, then get Paqueta and Diaby.

That’ll do for this Summer. Get a few development players signed up on top of that and job’s a good ‘un!

The above 4 are obtainable for approx €230M, that’s under £40M per year amortised over a 5 year contract. That’s got to be within FFP rules and allows us to grow the commercial income for the latter 4 years of the deal to keep future purchases in line.

Don’t know what all the fuss is about? 😆

Why are players with a change of pace being touted as the next big thing?
I may have missed the ascension of Gazza from spotty teenager, but there is a lot of development required to utilise the ability into a ‘world beater’.
It is the same as with Elliot Anderson at the moment, continuously skinning third tiered pros does not make a PL player.

What a team we’d have with those 4 additions but I’d still prefer an extra striker as cover incase Wilson does get injured again, not expecting him too with the new setup looking after him now though

I love the fact we are going after special potential WC superstars like Roger Fernandes and Angelo Gabriel. I’ve mentioned this before, these types of players wet my appetite and excite me more than your typical over the hill players who the slimy 6 et al are trying to offload. Like Amanda said, “we don’t want the Mbappé’s right now we want the ones of the future”

I totally agree with this, get good top youngster’s in that will grow with us sprinkled with the odd Trippier for experience. As in the Ardiles days at the toon it’s tricky having a team of only youngster’s.

Eddie and Ashworth will know exactly what they are doing and work to what Amanda is wanting. For me it makes absolute sense and in a few years it’s how we would take over MC and LFC when these young superstars come into their own and realise their potential(s).

Can’t help but agree Darnik, Bob’s 4 would be capable of taking us to another level. Not a big Jesus fan though, should’ve been out-and-out golden boot winner with the amount of chances ManC create… Very similar to our own Andy Cole who needed 6 chances to score a goal, don’t think anyone appreciated the unselfish role Beardsley played in him hitting 41 goals for us in 93/94

FFP is taking past 3 season into account. I think you also didn’t include players these club sold? Newcastle almost double what PSG, Real and Barcelona spent in last 3 season if you are wondering. Also regardless of how much Everton’s covid loss claim, they are safe of FFP regulations. Sounds logical that they can claim as much as they think is a loss to them but it’s up to EPL to valid those claims, right?
