Newcastle are not panicking over delays in the transfer market just yet according to local reports. Both Hugo Ekitike and Sven Botman remain priority targets despite unfortunate hold-ups in getting the players in.
It’s hard to gauge what exactly is causing issues as reports have been conflicting. Some outlets claim the duo are keen while others suggest the players are the ones holding up the moves.
The Chronicle has revealed that Newcastle are being flooded with offers for alternatives to Sven Botman. They believe the 22-year-old is still mulling over a move to Tyneside but that an agreement with Lille has been reached.
The Northern Echo is reporting that Hugo Ekitike is seeking assurances that he will get enough playing time before committing to a move to Newcastle. Other reports have suggested his representatives are still shopping him around Europe with PSG and Dortmund on alert.
Scott Wilson also touches on the situation with Botman. He backs the Chronicle’s report that an agreement has been reached with Lille as the player, who is currently on holiday, contemplates his future.
Wilson also is reporting that Manchester United have offered center-back Eric Bailly. The defender made just 7 appearances at Old Trafford last season and is not in new manager Erik ten Hag’s plans.
Bailly turned 28 in April and has two years left on his contract, in which he brings in £80k per week. The report doesn’t say whether Newcastle would be interested in bringing him in. For the time being, Botman is where the focus remains.

I agree with you Mund, as long as we are progressing each year I will be a very happy bunny. The other clubs are looking over their shoulders and worried! So sad!

Comment #23After years of transfer windows under Ashley where we were linked with players we knew would not but still hoped would be signed, for them being unable to cross the line.
I think this has a part to play in some fans worries, we know we are in a better place, with owners that actually want to improve the team but we can still be nervous.
We have a mid table team at least as it is, have a manger that has started to get them to play, we will not sell our best players and we know we will improve.
It is just the first summer window and we are all getting to know the new norm.
Patience is a virtue, just a shame that virtue can be so demanding.

Not being patronising at all. You keep saying the same things over and over and I keep giving examples of how we can work round FFP and still improve the squad to take us to the top but you never listen. I ask you questions with my responses but you never answer them.
You worry about FFP all you like and I’ll be relaxed about it. Job done

“I am leaving this blog, not one donation from the entire blog.”
I would indeed be sorry if you were to hold to your statement above.
Perhaps that’s a tongue in cheek post or is it one you intend to keep?
What we all have to remember is folk have different levels of income and different levels of outgoings and perhaps different charities they may wish to and do support.
In my case I support Marie Curie as the dignity they showed my late father was amazing! I also support the RNLI as my father was also a Merchant Navy Officer and I’m well aware of how powerful the sea can be.
I also support the church I attend St Edwards in Whitley Bay
I’m positive the other readers of the blog will support their own choices of charity when they can afford it.
So little pug don’t go away and get lost in that big world outside “Our Blog” 🙂
So keep on smiling and help where & when you can!
