A Second Newcastle Goalkeeper Is Wanted By A Championship Club

Newcastle have a second goalkeeper linked with a move to the Championship. The Athletic is reporting that Karl Darlow has been identified as a potential option for Middlesbrough.

Freddie Woodman has been heavily linked with Preston North End for a couple of weeks. Talks are still underway over a loan with a view to a permanent similar to Isaac Hayden’s move to Norwich City.

Birmingham City, managed by former Newcastle midfielder Lee Bowyer, are also touted with an interest in Woodman. It appears that Preston are the frontrunners as they look to replace Daniel Iversen, who spent the last season and a half on loan at Deepdale from Leicester City.

Iversen is also under consideration at the Riverside Stadium. Manager Chris Wilder will target either Darlow or Iverson to take the number one gloves. Iversen will be allowed out for another loan spell rather than remaining at Leicester, where is behind Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Ward.

One of Dan Ashworth’s top priorities this summer is to significantly trim the squad. If both Woodman and Darlow leave this summer, that would open the door for a goalkeeping target to come aboard.

There have been no shortage of options as Burnley’s Nick Pope and PSG’s Alphonse Areola have both hit the radar in recent weeks. Newcastle have seemingly moved on from Manchester United’s Dean Henderson who is wanted by Nottingham Forest either on loan or permanently.

It’s very important that any players we bring in are top quality, similar to Bruno. Anything short of that level and the project stalls and loses its credibility. I suspect the current delays are due to Howe needing to get back from hols, as he will need to sanction any new players that Ashworth proposes, and the fact the club will want to move other players on first.

    Repost.

I think the owners can “donate” limited amount to the club to counter the losses right?

For those interested I can confirm that the only debt related cost that counts towards the FFP rules is the servicing cost, or annual interest charge. And if that debt relates to a stadium rebuild, like Spurs, then none of that interest charge counts as FFP loss. Trust me, I’m an accountant!

Ok, question is the Everton 2021 financial yearly losses confirmed yet? Think it’s based on that if they get punishment or not.

I’m not sure about the veracity of some reports saying that Hugo Etikite is asking for certain assurances about playing from Howe.

I do not think any manager can 100% say to a player -“You are playing every game”.

If you go into a crap run you need dropping – and a good manager will do it.

    Ticks

The chance of catching Lyme disease from an individual tick ranges from roughly zero to 50 percent. Risk of contracting Lyme disease from a tick bite depends on three factors: the tick species, where the tick came from, and how long it was biting you.

    Tyran.
If owners want to put cash into their clubs to counter losses then they’d call that equity, but does nothing to actually reduce the losses. It’s just a cash injection, and no different to loan monies. Profit and losses are not cash, they are sales and costs of running the club. Owners can’t just donate cash to their club and call it income for FFP. It’s either a loan or equity injection.

Everton’s losses over 3 years were £370m. The FFP limit for a rolling 3 year period is £110m. Everton claimed that their stadium rebuild costs were outside of FFP. Fair enough, but these costs would be capital costs anyway (fixed assets) so the only losses could be interest charges on any loans for the rebuild. Can’t be that large at this stage. So the bulk of the FFP overspend of £260m must have been covid related. Utter garbage. I think they’ve been writing down player values and claiming that covid affected the transfer market. A seasons ticket money can’t be worth more than £30m. £260m is a big number!

Regarding ticks, if you can spot them quick enough and removed them within 24 hours then you should be okay. As others have said, careful removal is important. We have deer ticks around here and I try to keep the grass short because that definitely helps to prevent them getting into you. If you see that classic red bullseye rash though, you probably spotted it too late and he’s been on you for a while.

Their 21 accounts would have been for the 12 months ending May/June 21. They’ve been published by now. My £370m loss figure for the 3 years to June 21 is correct. I have no idea how they’ve got away with it. Player transfers are accounted for in The period where the transaction took place. But a transfer fee is spread over the contract term. So a £50m player on a 5 year contract costs £10m a year over 5 years. If you sell a player the profit or loss is taken 100% in the period where the sale took place. You compare the transfer fee to the book value of the player. Simples really!

Is it just me or are the wums posting in pairs at the moment?

Mund, that was my goal of the season with Bruno’s assist to Miggy an honourable runner up.

I like the look of the youngsters we’re linked with. As for the seniors it’ll be like waiting for a bus. Nothing for ages then three turn up at once. Bit like the blog sometimes. 🙂
