Will Ekitike Or Botman Questions Be Answered This Week?

This could be a pivotal week for Newcastle in the dual pursuits of Sven Botman and Hugo Ekitike. The situation surrounding the two remains somewhat murky with conflicting reports emerging from various outlets.

Some reports maintain that both Botman and Ekitike are keen on Newcastle. While others claim the duo’s uncertainty over a move to Tyneside is what has stalled both transfers. It’s unclear what is going on at the moment.

Ekitike’s move appears to be the closest with Sky Sports reporting last week that an agreement could be reached soon. They also stated a medical could be scheduled this week.

Both The Northern Echo and The Chronicle are reporting that the young striker is seeking assurances he will get consistent playing time this upcoming season.

Lee Ryder reported last week that Eddie Howe has a plan for the youngster which has been relayed to his representatives. Any fears could be allayed through a meeting with Howe.

The situation with Botman is more unclear. There are consistent claims in Italy and France that he prefers a move to AC Milan. However, the Serie A champions, who have been the frontrunners for months, have not matched Newcastle’s offer.

Luke Edwards with the Telegraph had an exclusive a week ago that Lille raised their asking price to £36m. Newcastle balked at those demands and have £30m sitting on the table for them to either take or leave.

Lille president Olivier Letang’s future is in doubt as the club’s owners are unhappy with the lack of progress on Botman’s departure. This could play into Newcastle’s hands as AC Milan have some inner turmoil of their own.

One potential issue could be with PSG’s interest. However, Botman made it clear earlier this month that he wants a ‘new step’ saying:

“What I want? Taking a nice step towards a nice competition. I am also looking forward to a new step”.

The Dutchman may not interested in staying in Ligue 1 despite it being with the mighty PSG. Time will tell on both Botman and Ekitike. After all, it is still only June.

Outgoings will speed up soon, i reckon.
There are plenty we can move on… they’ll do a job for someone else, no problem.
    Vacation time, tho’.
Plus, ya know, we can just not register them in the squad.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t sell a single player. The fringe guys are on good wages and mostly awful. We’ll get 10+ loans out though.

That’s exactly what it is mate. Verbal agreements have been made before they jetted off and all that needs to be done is securing their signatures once that’s finished.

Back end of this week or beginning of next I think we will see movement.

So far Ashley’s legacy has seen us involved in a legal dispute over his infernal signs, tied in to a deal with Direct Rots over shirt sales, lumbered with a shirt sponsor paying next to nothing and stuck with almost a starting eleven paid just too much for the championship and not good enough for the PL. Gawd forbid what would have happened if he’d sold us to a Kenyon type.

Depends on what the truth is.
So much bs been written about both Ekitike and Botman and no one but the powers that be have any clue as to what’s going on.
To be fair, both sound like top quality young talent with bags of potential to build on, and I feel we will learn from past mistakes, at least I hope so.

I know it’s all very exciting stuff, waiting on new players but as has been mentioned already. Players have been on international Duty then having their holidays. I think next week is when things start to happen in the transfer market.

    ZG,
Quite ironic given Ashley’s model was to buy young talent and sell on yet has lumbered us with an ageing squad with virtually zero saleable assets.

I would have thought by now AC Milan would be brimming with cash, having just been taken over by Redbird Capital, and having just won Serie A?

Mund…….. You seem very chilled and confident of us signing the two players making all the headlines. Have you heard something that you can’t share that will reassure us….. ? A yes or no should keep your confidentiality intact.

If it’s true about Paquets then I wonder which attacking mid we’ll go for. We 100% need one whether it’s in the form of a Maddison type mid or just an out and out winger. We definitely need to add goals to our game.

Might be a chance that any new players/prospective players check in on the blog for some inside information – always a possibility.

Dear Hugo, Lucas and Sven, if you are checking the blog out please note that not all Toon fans watch shite like Neighbours and Coronation Street on the telly.

Also it will be a minority of Toon fans that watch perve/voyeur TV programmes like that Love Land or Love Island -whatever it is called.

You boys will be safe coming to the Toon.

Raj – the damage caused by Ashley’s reign will take years to recover from. Though to be honest, he’s only one of a plethora of charlatans who’ve owned us (Westwood, Seymour, McKeag, even Hall/Shepherd were in it for what they could get). Obviously PIF aren’t in it for the kicks – but they’re astute enough to realise that success (in whatever form) will pay dividends for their initial £300M outlay.

to tell the truth id have gone for 6 stars and 4 youngins but the league will cry if we do that, the way fft bullshit is this if your not a top club you cant do jack shit, what we should do is spend what the club wants to spend and get the top barristers ready to fight them in the courts now we all know the PL are shit scared of courts because there dirty washing will be out in the open, the amount of clubs who are in major debt should not be allowed to buy players until that debt is gone and am pointing the finger here at man shite and spurs and a few others who seem to do what they want with massive amounts of debts

Jail……. I’m confident of us developing and progressing in the right way with Dan Ashworth in charge of transfers…….. No panic from Tanzania as they’ve all been made aware that the Toon Army is now on the move after years of lying dormant.
The new owners are going to be very diligent who they bring in which can only be better than those new club owners who come in with the big Yahoo chucking money about willy nilly.

Don’t know why we won’t sell players, it’s been proven that they are good enough players. But, if they’re prepared to sit and pick up wages for the duration of a contract, more fool them. We’ll just not give them a number…why would ya, as a player, be content with that. Ok, Gayle!
    But, most will wanna play.

Jail, I think the 2 x new lads from Ireland and Scotland are part of the youth building side of things. They’ve also looked at the young lad in Braga and Angel Gabriel @ Santos (reportedly), so if we bought them that would appear to complete the 4 x young ‘uns quota.

If Munds right (and I bloody hope so) then Ekitike and Botman will make it 3 for 1st team, counting Targett. Personally, I’d not count Targett as he was already here (sort of) so I’d like 2 x more on top of these 3.
