Will Ekitike Or Botman Questions Be Answered This Week?

This could be a pivotal week for Newcastle in the dual pursuits of Sven Botman and Hugo Ekitike. The situation surrounding the two remains somewhat murky with conflicting reports emerging from various outlets.

Some reports maintain that both Botman and Ekitike are keen on Newcastle. While others claim the duo’s uncertainty over a move to Tyneside is what has stalled both transfers. It’s unclear what is going on at the moment.

Ekitike’s move appears to be the closest with Sky Sports reporting last week that an agreement could be reached soon. They also stated a medical could be scheduled this week.

Both The Northern Echo and The Chronicle are reporting that the young striker is seeking assurances he will get consistent playing time this upcoming season.

Lee Ryder reported last week that Eddie Howe has a plan for the youngster which has been relayed to his representatives. Any fears could be allayed through a meeting with Howe.

The situation with Botman is more unclear. There are consistent claims in Italy and France that he prefers a move to AC Milan. However, the Serie A champions, who have been the frontrunners for months, have not matched Newcastle’s offer.

Luke Edwards with the Telegraph had an exclusive a week ago that Lille raised their asking price to £36m. Newcastle balked at those demands and have £30m sitting on the table for them to either take or leave.

Lille president Olivier Letang’s future is in doubt as the club’s owners are unhappy with the lack of progress on Botman’s departure. This could play into Newcastle’s hands as AC Milan have some inner turmoil of their own.

One potential issue could be with PSG’s interest. However, Botman made it clear earlier this month that he wants a ‘new step’ saying:

“What I want? Taking a nice step towards a nice competition. I am also looking forward to a new step”.

The Dutchman may not interested in staying in Ligue 1 despite it being with the mighty PSG. Time will tell on both Botman and Ekitike. After all, it is still only June.

Jail, again it’s from reports so the usual amount of salt required, but a few seem to be on way out to a variety of destinations, just waiting confirmation details.

Your competitions alive and kicking. 😉

raj that was Ashleys policy but he changed it for Bruce. Suddenly we started bringing in Wilson, Hendricks etc and retaining Clark, Shelvey etc. Much to the delight of fans who simply haven’t heard of younger players or those that play abroad. Within two years we went from youngest squad to bottom 3 oldest.

That’s one thing Joelinton needs to improve, passing accuracy. Oh….and possession, he seems to be careless with the ball.

Mund – 78% pass completion rate is very average, the top players have completion rates in the high 80s / low 90s
Generally newcastles pass completion rate overall has been poor the last 14 years so maybe 78% is good for us in the past … hopefully we’ll sign players who can help us increase this

Asking probing questions of those who’ve clearly got access to those whose names we can only read, is a step too far. You can’t expect confidences to be betrayed.

Have faith, be inspired and draw comfort that everything passed on will prove to be true.

pass completion stats are worthless. all the most useless players like Hendricks or Clark who simply pass it backwards do well. A guy trying the killer ball will be low.

Altough Chris Wood at 50% must be the all time low. I’ve never even seen an outfield player go below 60% and It’s usually the dribblers.

He definitely needs to improve that side of his game that’s for sure lads or keep it simple and let the likes of Bruno and that be the forward thinking players. Bruno is IMO the best passer we have in the squad.

    Heating up on DCL

Good player but not for the price quoted and I don’t even rate him better than Wilson.

Don’t know why we would entertain him at that price and not even better than what we already have.

@Mund, as I’ve previously stated, I would take DCL, but Wilson staying fit and and strong all season would be my preference.

He would add quality I’m not denying that but for the prices being quoted I’d go nowhere near him mate.

I’m with you a fit Wilson all day for me and the fact DCL has his own fitness issues. I wouldn’t add to what we already have IMO.

Lesh……. OK. I’ll take heed of your great wisdom in these matters.
It’s nice to know that after so many years of that previous leech of an owner , things will happen now that are in the best interests of the club.

I’m not sure why some people are so keen to see Everton deducted points. If that sets a precedent it could hamper a few clubs if they’re deemed to fall foul. I’d much rather they looked at the two crooks that devised the thing in the first place and just scrapped it.
