Long-Term Targets Remain On Newcastle’s Radar – Report

Newcastle remain interested in long-term target Tosin Adarabioyo according to The Mirror. The defender is entering the final year of his contract but Fulham have an option to extend him for another year.

The report doesn’t add much other than reporting the 6’5″ center-back remains on the radar. Newcastle are currently focused on adding Sven Botman from Lille, a pursuit that is entering a critical phase.

In a Q&A yesterday, The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder mentioned that both Nottingham Forest and Fulham were interested in Magpie captain Jamaal Lascelles. Fulham’s interest could stem from their inability to tie Adarabioyo down long-term.

Newcastle are expected to add at least one center-back with Botman the clear preference at the moment. Adarabioyo doesn’t appear to be an alternative to the Dutchman. He could be someone who comes into the equation should Lascelles leave.

Eddie Howe wants to decrease the average age of the squad. At 24, Adarabioyo fits the bill. The former Manchester City product only has one year of Premier League experience but was a stalwart in Fulham’s recent promotion campaign.

Newcastle’s list of targets is likely comprehensive in all areas of the pitch. It’s no surprise a player like Adarabioyo is still lurking in the background. He could be a decent option if his contract situation doesn’t get resolved.

The Mirror also claim Newcastle are still in talks with Jesse Lingard, who will leave Old Trafford when his contract ends this month. The forward was a loan target in January but inflated loan demands from Manchester United doomed the move.

The Chronicle also reports that Lingard is not completely off the radar. However, he will have to come down significantly from his £200,000 per week wage demands.

I think he needs to drop his wage demands first. Ridiculous that he rates himself so highly to get what he thinks he is worth.

No chance he is worth that. If we have offered him a contract he’d be an idiot not to come here IMO

    Tyran from last post

I get where you’re coming from with respect to Arsenal and Chelsea, but however we want to square it, both currently have stronger squads than us. Tuchel is a Champions League winning manager with exceptional pedigree, he may have a somewhat gruff demeanour but he was able to come in season before last, consolidate a fractured dressing room and winning a Champions League with a team Lampard underperformed with so not sure I agree with ‘dressing room time bomb’

Re Arteta, I think he is improving year-in, year-out with Arsenal and if they sign Raphinha and Gabriel Jesus they will be a force to reckon with next season. Conte is a pedigree manager but I suspect that he won’t get the backing he needs in the summer transfer market and will be gone by Christmas so that may throw Spurs in a tailspin.

In any case I can’t see how we can finish ahead of Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Citeh or Liverpool to finish top 4 without a complete implosion from more than 1 of those sides.

Great points. It’ll be great if we can have a really good start to the season instead of the usual relegation fight at the bottom. Get to January in a really good position to bring 1 or 2 more in for a 2nd half push up the table

Lesh…… OK old chap I’ll try to let sleeping dogs lie .. Maybe I’m a bit paranoid but a quick check under the bed now and again does no harm. These damned commies seem to get everywhere you see… Anyway have a splendid day old boy.

Davas, what was remarkable in January- despite some people in the press trying to knock it down as just spending our way out of trouble- is that we somehow built from a position of weakness. January is an awful window to do business, club’s don’t want to sell & they inflate their prices accordingly, it’s hard enough luring players for a big club never mind one second bottom of the league. They took their time, didn’t get ripped off & all five were successful to varying degrees. I’m sure they’ll do the same this window, it might take time to get deals done but I’m confident they’ll do the right ones. January showed what they were about & I absolutely trust them 100%.

Yep not for 200k. I don’t believe he’s asking that, he’s not in that bracket. None of the big clubs will go in for him. It’ll be a Newcastle, West Ham, Villa type club and none of them pay that type of wages.

I know he splits opinion on here but I thick he’d be a brilliant signing.

If you’re checking for reds under the bed, don’t go thrashing about – you might just have to spend some time clearing up the mess!
