Report From France Sheds More Light On Ekitike Delay

Tuesday was another roller coaster ride for the Toon Army. News broke that an agreement in prinicple has been reached for Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope. The 30-year-old is expected to wrap up a £10m move later this week.

On a sad note, Freddie Woodman has officaly departed his home of nine years. The 25-year-old has joined Preston North End on a permanent transfer which is an excellent opportunity for the young goalkeeper.

Some potentially worrying news comes via an update on Hugo Ekitike from The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards. He revealed calls to the player’s representatives have not been returned for the past week.

The 20-year-old is currently on holiday with the move to Newcastle in his agent’s hands. An agreement has been reached with Reims but the striker is being shopped around Europe.

While concerning, this may be the work of his agents trying to get the best move for their client. They could also be looking to cash in on lucrative agent fees which reportedly is a cause of contention with the Newcastle hierarchy.

France’s L’Equipe, by way of Get French Football News, are reporting that Newcastle remain in pole position to land the striker. However, there is growing concern due to the interest of some elite clubs in Europe.

PSG have been linked in recent weeks though they are in the process of poaching Christophe Galtier from Nice to be their next manager. They may not be ready to make a move until the managerial situation is sorted.

L’Equipe also claim Real Madrid see Ekitike as a future star and are considering making a move. Real Madrid have just added Aurelien Tchouameni of Monaco to their impressive group of Frenchman – Karim Benzema, Eduardo Camavinga, and Ferland Mendy.

They also claim Bayern Munich could pounce for Ekitike. Newcastle had seemingly fended off Borussia Dortmund, who have added Karim Adeyemi and are now going for Ajax’s Sebastien Haller, only to now see Bayern move into the picture.

Bundesliga writer Manuel Veth is confirming the interest from the Bundesliga champions. However, it could hinge on Robert Lewankowski landing in Barcelona.

This potentially sheds light on why the move to Newcastle is being delayed. Ekitike’s representatives are exploring all options which may end up with Newcastle moving on to other targets.

A man walks into a pet store and asks for a dozen bees. The clerk carefully counts 13 bees out onto the counter.

“That’s one too many!” says the customer. The clerk replies “It’s a freebie.”

    Yes I know – Coat!

For everyone’s sanity it’s probably best not to listen to any ITKs on Twitter about anything really. Many claimed we weren’t in for Targett, they didn’t have a Scooby Doo about Pope or Woodman on the way out and now many of them are claiming to be ITK about upgrades to the concourse, and replacing the tiny tellys with large screen TVs when the owners already said that is one area they were keen to upgrade.

Best to avoid the twatterati and stick to the likes of Keith Downie, Pete Graves, George Caulkin/Chris Waugh and (at a push) Luke Edwards as he gets some things right.

Or don’t listen to anyone and just shoot the breeze on the blog! haha

It’s so small, and the east stand can’t see it.

The reality is if we get the long term two we have been chasing, and they produce , we also agree Targett is our left back and Wilson is fit for purpose we are a winger away from having a very strong first team with the right work ethic.

The reality is we need competition and cover for injuries and that will be the balancing act the club has to work around.

Imagine for example if Joe Willock suddenly becomes a superstar that will only add to the complexity.

Eddie likes consistency and steady introductions. I can see why non true world class players would question how much game time they would get here. Add to that its a world cup in Dec and i can see why it may not be as easy as it seem for the owners to sell the project.

On the TV’s, Big Screens etc there is an innovative solution.

I work in tech and was part of a trial to deliver real time in stadia updates to fans mobiles at the MK vs Ipswich game last season.

Think goal replays to your phone, Choose the camera angle to watch an incident from etc in near real time. it was pretty good and could be easily set up at the SJP. Before anyone says there is no mobile signal the stadium would be surveyed and a private 5G network deployed with full coverage. You would simply subscribe to the service ( could be free) and log into it like WiFi. The Bin dippers are currently looking at it seriously. We are also doing the British Grand Prix this year.

    Lesh,

From previous where you’ve asked me to explain why I thought you were a bit of a mischief maker (although I didn’t say it directly, I do agree with it) simply because it’s pretty much plain and simple you are a person who deliberately creates trouble for others.

You very rarely post football related stuff, but where you quite regularly get fellow blog posters in your crosshairs (yes that word again) and you relentlessly go after them with your mischievous posts, Mund, Jane, Me, many more. If people do not suit your narrative you have a clear agenda against them. It’s as obvious as that red flag hoisted up proudly on your front lawn with the hammer and sickle on 😉

Is that short and sweet enough for you to fit on an A4 peice of paper????
