Alan Shearer is the Premier League’s top goalscorer with 260 goals in 441 appearances, split between Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle.
Harry Kane does have a chance of overtaking Alan with the 28-year-old already having scored 183 Premier League goals in 282 league appearances.
So Harry has got time on his side and is now 77 goals behind Alan, who played until he was 36, before retiring in 2006.
So it’s a decent bet that Harry can eventually overhaul the Newcastle icon’s total of 260 goals.
Here is Alan from Portugal (he’s attending Bobby Robson’s Golf Weekend), talking to Sky Sport’s Peter Grave, about Kane and about how he thinks Newcastle can fare next season.
What do you think?

Lesh, from earlier this morning, I didn’t ask him to lay off the fishing. I did point out that you cannot call someone out for something you do yourself. That’s fair I think.
I’m sorry my attempt at humour disturbed your peace. I could care less about folks views on politics, religion or whatever. I am here for the football and banter and as long as both sides can laugh then I’m generally okay with it. Given the various pile ons today I don’t think a repost would be wise. 🙂

Got to say mate you have been a very good addition to the blog. I’ve enjoyed reading your posts and like the craic and banter you bring. A level headed poster who is respectful.

“Mon ami” mean “my friend” ( “amiE” for a woman, but if a man say of a girl she is “son amie”, it could also mean “his girlfriend” ).
” Mon Aimé-e” mean “my love” ( without E for a man, with it for a woman ).

You can say “Copain” for a friend… but be carefull, if you say “MON copain” about a guy ( or “ma copine” for a guy speaking of a girl ), will mean “my boyfriend” ( or “my girlfriend”).

Overton who was out for 97 today, would have been the second English player to have scored a century and taken a wicket on his debut had he managed those 3 runs he needed. The first and only other one was WG Grace who set all sorts of records in the early 1900’s. So it would have been a major milestone in the history of the game. And statistics etc are a big part of the game.

Comment #37What people don’t seem to appreciate with KP following the pointless discussions earlier today on how much he was responsible for the takeover, is that he did all of that off his own bat, and own money. Because he loves NUFC. He didn’t have to do any of it. How many others put themselves out as much without looking for anything in return. I’d like to see him on the SJP pitch next season so we can thank him for his initiative and efforts.

Would prefer if the Club went for Raphinha instead and replaced Fraser as the starting 11. If we managed to break into the top 5 this upcoming season, there will be so many quality players who will want to come over to play European football and buy into the clubs vision and we will be spoilt for choice.
The player that I personally think that captures what Eddie Howe wants to lead this club is Man U’s Bruno Fernandes. He’s got strong leadership skills and commands that on the field and is a real baller
