Newcastle get back to work very soon to prepare for the upcoming campaign. Eddie Howe will have two new faces through the door in Nick Pope and Sven Botman, who is set to complete his move next week.
Triggering Matt Targett’s purchase option was the first bit of summer business. The left-back’s January loan was made permanent earlier this month. A decision that was fully endorsed by midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
What a signing ???? https://t.co/16iFiWeqXy
— Bruno Guimarães (@brunoog97) June 8, 2022
Guimaraes has given an exclusive interview with The Shields Gazette’s Dominic Scurr in which he reiterates his delight with his January move to Tyneside. Here is some of what the 24-year-old midfielder said about that decision, and his goals for this next season and beyond:
“It is incredible what we have done. It was a big decision in my career to come here when the club was in the relegation [zone], but a great decision and the best decision for me because we have been able to do so well.”
“I had to wait [to start] but it has been amazing to help the team in this way.”
“It was sometimes difficult, but we did our job. We are happy and the most important thing for me and the club is that we had a go, and we got it.”
“I’ve improved a lot as a player since I’ve been here. The Premier League is a different challenge for me, but I’m really happy, and I think this has been the best season in my career.”
“I enjoy the challenge, everything has been amazing, and I’m really looking forward to next season.”
“I’m hoping next season we can look at the Europa League and I want to play in the Champions League here, but we’ll take things step by step.”
“The confidence from [last] season has been amazing, the guys have worked so hard and we are very happy about where we are and the future.”
“I want to be a legend here, win trophies and help the team become the best possible.”
Newcastle have made an excellent start in the transfer window, assuming there are no hiccups with Botman. Bruno will know all about the Dutchman, having faced him three times when he was with Lyon.
It’s signings like Guimaraes and Botman that will take Newcastle to the next level.
That could begin this season with a battle for a place in Europe.

Comment #2Well Shite, if budget is correct which we don’t know two players for around 50 million on goal scoring winger and one forward.
Tough two to find with that budget, hopefully the amount is stretchable.

I honestly don’t know what’s happened to you. When you first started posting on here you seemed like a genuinely nice and passionate fan.
These days you just seem to be really bitter towards people you don’t agree with, as well as trying super hard to score points with attempts at ‘banta’ and humour towards posters. When it’s clearly just insulting them and ‘goading’ them like you say, but then pull out the ‘banta’ card to excuse it.
I don’t get it. You repeatedly say you just want to talk football and don’t care about politics and ‘woke’ stuff. Yet repeatedly do these silly little banta digs at people and jump in feet first into non football related discussions, or arguments with other posters.
Just stick to football and ignore it if you genuinely don’t care. All I ever see is a sad attempt at humour to point score off other posters.
Just my take on it, not interested in a back and forth about it so won’t reply. Off to enjoy the weekend.

Comment #5Gabigol is some finisher, and I’d be more relaxed with him taking penos than Wilson. It’s the same issue though… We aint gonna buy a guy to replace Wilson, we need a young understudy with potential. He has to be able to play as a central striker. It should be his favourite spot. This is not the same as buying an ekitike or Diaby.

Eh? He was involved in it all. He started the case off and put hrs of work in to get it were it was. Many fans believe he played an integral part in it all so saying he was guessing is a bit of an insult and he was most certainly not…
How was it a guess…? It was him who found the evidence not someone else…
Anyways it’s going a bit daft as I was only making a point that it wasn’t a guess but you believe what you want mate

Yea, there is/was incontrovertible evidence that could not be buried/avoided, so the deals had to be done, otherwise the pl would be shown to be liars, in a court of law.
That had to be avoided at all costs.

Exactly mate and it was KP’s evidence that pushed it over the line…
To say he was guessing is obviously coming from a point of view of not knowing all that happened

The only guessing…er, there is was none.
It’s a euphemism for trying to blur the meaning, so the media doesn’t feel like it can be fingered as the guilty, too.

It’s amazing what some emails can do to make one’s position totally clear to a group of miscreants, may of course be deployed ( from a leaked source of course) in the future if they continue to misbehave Mund.

You are another one. Don’t give me the war and peace as to who I was and to what you believe I am now as a poster on here or what character I am. You don’t know me from Adam (no pun intended)…
If I want to point out Lesh’s flaws on here I will do just that… it was not that long ago when he stated I would be drinking with Putin on St George’s day, (enough said but a disgusting unthoughtful comment) an assault on me out the blue for no reason whatsoever. Your clearly another woke person 100% lefty liberal type of guy who loves to stick his nose in, that is obvious but hey no issues that’s your choice mate…. going forward, don’t be going on as if you know me as a person because of opionions and posts made on a football blog, don’t be so f@cking serious and woke ffs lighting up man, it’s only a football blog 😆 … My Family, friends, work colleagues, clients, all know me very well obviously and my good nature and name is firmly intact . That’s all that matters to me sonny, not what you, Lesh or whoever believes of me on here.
Anyway, I’m out all day as it’s the Feast of St Peter in Chalfont st Peter. Should be a good day with family and friends. 🙂

Comment #26As grown ups am sure we can accept that we can support the team without being in love with the ownership – remember McKeag (sp) 70s / 80s era, I am sure I remember protests against them
We’ve gone from having an owner the fans disliked to having owners that other fans dislike (emotional rather than logical for some)
Doesn’t stop most from supporting the team or enjoying us showing ambition
Am sure it would be lovely to be owned by a Norwegian eco billionaire but it wasn’t our choice – so we accept and enjoy the football
Always someone going to have a go and moan
plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose

Comment #29I believe the CL money to be a significant part of a clubs income who regularly compete in it.
Prize money is explained in the following link. And it doesn’t include broadcasting revenues, matchday income or money from the UEFA prize pot for where you finish in your respective league(although I can’t believe that’s actually a thing!)
Pretty significant I reckon.
