Howe Keen To Tie Down Leading Magpie On New Contract – Report

Newcastle have addressed the defense this window with the additions of Matt Targett on a permanent basis, goalkeeper Nick Pope, and marquee signing Sven Botman at center-back. The focus will soon shift to the final third in the hopes of adding goals to the squad.

One instant boost would be if Callum Wilson manages to stay fit for the bulk of the upcoming season. Wilson has been Newcastle’s top scorer for each of the last two campaigns despite missing long spells through injury.

The Mirror is reporting that Wilson will soon enter new contract talks with his current deal set to expire in just two years. This could be Wilson’s final chance at a bumper contract as passed the age of 30 earlier this year.

Eddie Howe remains an admirer of Wilson, who he also managed at Bournemouth. He is keen on tying the striker down long-term. Wilson’s return from a four-month injury this past May reminded everyone of his value to the team. A full season from Callum could see Newcastle fighting for a place in Europe.

Howe will still look to bring in more options up front and lessen the load on Wilson. So far, the window has proven extremely frustrating with the collapsed move for Hugo Ekitike and inflated quotes for other targets like Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Yeah, good decision to offer Wilson a new contract. I’d give him another 6 years. If he makes 50 appearances in that time, I’d Be surprised. It’s like a social club with Howe in charge. Always has his favourites.

I tee’d off on my lonesome one day last week, the guy waiting behind in the next slot was also a lone golfer so I offered him the option to join me which he did. He was from Carrickfergus, lovely guy and a cracking golfer!

Wilson terrified the Arsenal defence last home game of the season. He deserves to be on an extended contract if he can stay fit. The key works is ‘if’. If he can, then great. If he can’t, then he shouldn’t be getting the top whack every week. Any contract should be built around that IMHO.
I really, really rate Wilson though….despite the Kets silly comments

Mund you won’t like me saying this, but I hope you take it in the right spirit. I can appreciate that you weren’t involved in the e máil carry on, but I thought you were pretty aggressive yesterday. The suggestion of a face to face meet was laced with aggressive intent, in my opinion anyway. I’d prefer Jail to come back, which will seem odd given the rucks we had, in the same way as I wouldn’t want you to leave either. Two regular posters, both needed here. This place needs to be moderated, like other similar sites. Or else we all need to self moderate.

If we had any intention of signing a big name striker we would also need to get Wilson to sign another contract before hand

Evening all, I’ve read back on last night and in all honesty it’s completely shameful. No matter your opinion on Raj it shouldn’t have gotten to a stage where he feels the need to leave the blog.

Tom should be banned for his part in last night IMO. Goading Mund and Raj to boiling point by shit stirring and then having the brass neck to threaten Raj with his personal details when he cried victim over Dubai Micky doing the same to him and his missus. Complete joke.

That’s the last I’ll say on the matter. I won’t be posting much if at all following last night. Not worth the bother.

Newcastle United have begun negotiations for Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.

Eddie Howe is keen to add more firepower to his attack, and a move for Diaby is prioritised over Youri Tielemans. #nufc [@CBSSportsGolazo]

There’s a niggling feeling that Chris Wood could turn into our next Leon Best. We’ve totally written him off but he just might prove us wrong next season. He’ll probably only get that chance in the cups at first but you never know. Jesus look at Joelinton.

Playing golf on your own is no fun really.
I had 3 regular buddies and we were getting 2 rounds a week in as there was always at least 2 willing to play, but for various reasons we’ve hardly played the past 2 months. Hopefully we’ll be getting back to normal soon, but it’s made me realise how dependent I am on just a handful of people to play.

Wor B – this will make you laugh, I could have (and I’d say should have) won the golf comp yesterday but had a total meltdown on the par 3 16th and scored a TEN! Two shanks off the tee, a belated decision to take an unplayable and ended in a 3 putt. Even a nine would have put me in 2nd place for my division but a 5 would have seen me winning the whole weekend comp outright. Very bizarre…

And you might think my head had gone but I then got a par on a very difficult par 5 and a bogey on the 18th.

We live and learn…handicap came down 0.8 at least…

Jeez Mund that doesn’t wash. I cant be bothered looking at yesterday’s posts but I fully remember your tone being pretty aggressive.

That said, assuming the stuff about é mails etc is correct, that’s the bigger issue here by far, and someone ( and I understand this wasn’t you) or some people need to cop the FK on about this.

Paqueta and Diaby and we’d be in dreamland

Plus the elusive striker and we’re on a rush.

No wonder there’s talk of Ekitike feeling left out. Methinks he needs to ditch his self centred Agent and get someone who can look after his welfare and carrier, not just lining his own pockets
