There’s a report in the Mirror today that Newcastle are back in for Jesse Lingard, who became a free agent on July 1st and has left Manchester United after 22 years at the club.
Newcastle had been keen on Lingard in January, but his Manchester club were not willing to let him go.
They wanted a large additional fee for him if Newcastle survived relegation, which of course we did quite easily with the superb coaching of Eddie Howe and 5 good signings in January.
Lingard would be a great fit at Newcastle, because not only is he an excellent player with massive Premier League experience, but he is also a positive character both off and on the field.
Jesse played 231 times for the Red Devils, with 35 goals and 21 assists.
Newcastle are reported to have recently talked to Lingard’s agents about a move to Tyneside, and no agreement has been reached with any club right now, with West Ham, Everton and Tottenham also interested.
With Premier League clubs back in preseason training, Lingard is well aware he needs to make a decision (very) soon, so he can get a full preseason before the Premier League kicks on Saturday, August 6th.
And to do that, he will need to significantly reduce his wage demands.
Lingard could play a huge role at Newcastle in the next few years if he decides to join us.
But his wage demands have been a problem, and Newcastle have proved to be very savvy and sensible in the transfer market, unlike clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea in the past.
Those two clubs basically bought Premier League titles with their massive (extremely massive) expenditures on players.
However, with Sporting Director Dan Ashworth now leading Newcastle’s transfer business this summer, don’t be surprised if we sign the former Red Devils forward.
It would be a win-win for Newcastle and the player.
What do you think?

Exactly that mate. I’d happily pay £10 a game but anymore and I’ll stick to a dodgy stream. They don’t need to be greedy as the possibilities are huge

But tbh Ruddy you have been solely pointing the finger at me for a while now… it is what it is…

Comment #85Ruddy, the only “private” data would be an email address. We all routinely give that out every week . On-line shopping/banking etc etc etc.
I know Mr Tuff will have a crack at me…but… having worked in cyber security and with GCHQ scientists to protect the satellite system. Your data is out there. Either accept it or stay off-line. Passwords and 2 or 3 point verifications are important.
A good Password? Capital and non capital letters, numbers and special characters. A good idea is to take phrase from your favourite book add The Dog’s birthday and put a £ sign in for the vet 🙂 That way you will have an uncrackable password until quantum computers arrive (5-10 years) then any password ever used will be cracked within a second or two

We have all had our parts to play, some more than others. You cannot deny you have had a massive part to play in all of this while I concede that I have too. However, when it crosses the line wherein someone feels like their private life is potentially compromised and are being stalked because of views they have on a football blog, surely we can all agree it has gone too far. While I personally like Raj/Jail I would be saying the exact same thing if it were happening to you.

Comment #90I’m not sure what people’s idea about ppv, but unless it goes into a big pot and then divided like sky money it’s got the potential of making the league even less competitive. I guess it could still be done like that .

In the case of Raj/Jail a user then used this email address to track down where he worked and lived which is crossing a line in my view.

I’ve said a good few times when it was mentioned that it was out of order and who ever did it is a complete footin bell end. Ofc I’d feel the same. What’s not fair is for Raj to bring me into that BS like I have something to do with it. I wouldn’t dream of lowering myself to such shite. He didn’t need to associate myself with that BS but he did and he did it to get a reaction which he got.
Whoever did it was a disgrace and I don’t condone any such behaviour

Bayern Munich’s ST are around £110 max! I find that amazing and on MATCHDAY’s if you have a ST you get free travel on any of the services. They said why would a few more million make a difference to us? We’d rather repay the fans…
Our owners could do that

Comment #98Our own media business looking after the rights of the club would be a good mood. Look how Barcelona”sold” 10% of theirs recently for 200m to get themselves out of the poop. The only downside with everyone doing this though is its making a super leaugue more realistic if they take away the rights fro. A “group” deal

There are fall outs day in day out mate, there is a lot of ‘characters’ on here, we are never all going to agree on everything.
I am all for folk agreeing to disagree and move on, one minute we are in a disagreement the next we are all mates again.
I am sure it will all sort itself out in a few ‘threads’
Right I am off to the gym for a bit, first pint on me if we sign someone whilst I am away !
Play nicely you lot x

Comment #100Mund, I totally missed it. I do not gamble (apart from a friendly 1-1 bet) which is not a gamble. I have never been in a casino. You cannot beat the house. I have gone to horse racing etc, Will put a bet on but that is part of the expense of the day, if you get my point.

That seems to be a case of guilt by association in that this person had engaged in this worrying behaviour as a direct consequence of Raj/Jail’s disagreement with you. While you’re not responsible for the behaviour of others, it does show the lengths some people will go to in order to win online arguments which is ridiculous.
In any case, Raj/Jail is stating outright that someone is stalking his LinkedIn, commented that they know where he works and lives, all because of an online disagreement. That would make anyone feel anxious and worried. There is no caveat, excuses or debate around this, it’s disgusting abhorrent behaviour that has happened because we’ve had online tiffs and spats.
We’ve said it before, but honestly, we really do need to put this nonsense behind us.

No thanks.
He’s tarnished with the Man Yanks culture and signing him would only be disruptive to the harmony of the team. Botman, Paqueta maybe and true pros like Pope, Trippier and Taggart, Max are the armour of the team.
A new winger and striker with potential and energy are the right choices, just go get ’em

There is no guilt with association. I get dragged into it from bitter and twisted purposes and it’s pathetic to do that. I agree what’s happened to him shouldn’t of happened and it’s a cowardly act.
The bottom line is I had nothing to do with it and shouldn’t of been brought into it as there is not a single thing that supports that theory.
Nobody should ever have to leave the blog over such stuff and it is a complete joke that has happened.

For clarification, I was supposing a theory as to why Raj/Jail may have lumped you into that issue rather than implying you actually had guilt by association.
If we agree that this has crossed a line, and is a direct consequence (albeit indirectly) of the escalating tensions that have been on the blog for some time between a number of us, can we agree now amongst ourselves as grown ups, to truly draw a line under the sand?

It is up to all who post on this blog to curb their own behaviour.
There is way too much sarcasm aimed at posters who some dislike which starts arguments which escalate into ridiculous infantile comments and create an atmosphere that runs out of control..
The Harrisons created this blog with the utmost good intentions..Its up to the bloggers to follow in the spirit it was created.
