Stamford Bridge has been the source of a steady supply of transfer links for Newcastle United. The club have held preliminary talks on two targets with a loan proposal recently being registered for Timo Werner.
Before the focus switched to Werner, striker Armando Broja had been in the headlines for weeks as an alternative to Hugo Ekitike. Thomas Tuchel’s reluctance to part with the young Albanian international resulted in the Magpies moving onto other targets.
The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle may now move on from Werner as interest from his former-club RB Leipzig heats up. The Mirror backs claims that Leipzig have pushed ahead to bring the 26-year-old back to Red Bull Arena; a move Werner could prefer.
The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle may move for yet another Blue if Werner proves unattainable. Callum Hudson-Odoi’s name could be next on the negotiating table with the 21-year-old having hit the radar earlier this summer.
Hudson-Odoi has failed to make an impact under Thomas Tuchel. That is unlikely to change with the breadth of attacking options the Blues boss has at his disposal. The winger is entering the final two years of his contract with his career at a crossroads.
Newcastle are currently pondering a third bid for James Maddison with a decision on Werner’s future still unclear. Hudson-Odoi would cost a significant fee but the Magpies would push for a structured deal that could be heavy on add-ons and bonuses.

Comment #121Wonder what financial restrictions the owners are making on our recruitment team. Cant for the world of me think they would deny Eddie getting Maddison in his team for 55 million. Think the issue is he would only be 30 million max this time next year based on contract situation. Tuffy

That is always the case that a player gets cheaper over time.
Anyways, maybe this is a year of progress off the field. Investment being diverted there. Which is also fantastic.

Comment #123Some facts:
1 Last winter, no club spend more than us.
2 We spend 1/3 of the total spend by PL clubs.
3 We spend 2/3 of all the spendings of italians clubs combineds.
4 We spend more than all spanish clubs combineds.
5 We spend more than all french and german clubs combineds.
6 This summer we already spend 70 millions euros.
7 Three of our five recruits last winter came in the last four days of the window representing more than half of our spendings.

Comment #127Morning all, I’m not sure who said it yesterday but someone suggested that the low-ball figure for Maddison may just have been the opening salvo of what they had hoped would be a back-and-forth negotiation process but was sadly leaked by the Leicester camp. That may be true, only time will tell depending on whether we go back in for him or not. I really hope we do.
Just to completely clarify, I think the owners have done a wonderful job since they’ve come in and really haven’t put much of a foot wrong at all. Perhaps this window may have been a little smoother had we paid Brighton the release fee they wanted for Ashworth a bit sooner. That’s nit picking though.
There is a month left in this window, and I am certainly not going to be judging the owners with so much time left. What is true is that I am sure most of us would have wanted/expected an attacking signing to have been made before the new season kicked off, and as of Wednesday before our first match, we’ve not achieved that, so in that sense it’s a little bit disappointing.
Not that it needs saying, but these trivial concerns are obviously preferable to the dread and apathy that formed much of Ashley’s time at the club and even having the debates as to whether we’re signing a 25 year old England international or not is bloody brilliant.
The club won’t get every decision right, and it’s OK to call them out on the decisions they get wrong as much as it is to heap tonnes of praise on them for the decisions they get right. That’s football. Our loyalty isn’t to any owner, director, chairman. It’s to the club, and we all want what’s best for the club.
Sorry, I know that’s another geet long post haha

Imagine being stalker by those two when surely your preference is Everton or West Ham.
Leicester will be broken up and sold to Mike Ashley if that happens.
Manchester United and Chelsea are monitoring Leicester City’s former England striker Jamie Vardy, 35, who has a year left on his current deal. (90min)

Only 2 out of 18 are left to register the code on H2H D3…

catchy in Norway. (on holiday)
The late application from Gillmag been processed, and the code sent out by Neil.
Howay Gillmag, find a teenager to register your code!
🙂
If all 3 join before the deadline, we will have 19 in D3, meaning each week one player will play against a dummy ID which will have been awarded the average FPL score for that week.

Comment #139Still a bit if hand wringing going on about our owners in the Guardian’s comments section from some of our own fans and fans of other clubs I notice.
I find myself quite comfortable with the owners now.
Are PIF responsible for human rights abuses in The KSA? I hardly think so.
Are they running the club well and responsibly and within FFP regulations? Most certainly yes.
Do we have a side that provides value for money on the match day ticket, and plays in the right spirit? Again, a resounding yes.
The wealth is nothing for fans to gloat about, that’s unseemly, but the owners are nothing to be ashamed of either, at all, as things are transpiring.

Comment #142Nicky – I agree with you completely. I don’t like the gloating about the wealth of our owners either but I’m delighted to see them running the club professionally and with money to spend.
I said it before the takeover and I still think the same, that connecting our great PL club to the Saudi PIF can only be a good thing for human rights in their country as it will shine more of a light on what is going on there. They can’t modernise overnight but they’re moving in the right direction for sure.

Comment #143Lots of discussion recently on who knows what about FFP….
I’m not the smartest here (that would be NY Mag)
I’m not the daftest either (Mund has that in the bag)
But with FFP I don’t have much of a clue
So I listen and learn from those who do
Onmeedsun’s an accountant and has my respect
I’d listen to his views on any subject
And others on here have studied FFP rules
I’d rather pay heed to them than the Twitterati fools
I was taught at school and later in college
To bow to those with a greater knowledge
But there’s always one and I’m sure you’ve guessed
Who although he knows nowt, always thinks he knows best!

Comment #146On Maddison, my understanding is from Brendan Rodgers and oh how dramatic he is with this statement.
“There’s obviously, within the club, a financial situation which isn’t ideal in terms of wanting to do business. It doesn’t mean we’ll be exploited, – and we don’t want to be losing our best players.” Exploited wow BR.
They need a keeper, Dubs has been mentioned, they also I believe still owe some money on Perez, so surely with monies owed and Dubs there’s is a deal to be made that helps them, sounds like no Exploitation from us, just smart business.

Finally entering a season with hope of success not just hoping to survive in the division and expecting early cup exits.
Would love to see a couple forward players brought in Madison would be awesome improving us pretty much instantly.
On pricing, trust the board, ultimately the value of a player is what someone will pay for them, if we value him at a certain price that’s great but never pay much above your valuation as that way leads to being ripped off. Personally I pay no attention to Transfermrkt s they are simply a website of data, much like when I used to buy cars I constantly was quoted valuations from Glasses Guide or Parker’s. The response was “Great sell to them.” Of course that isn’t possible as they don’t buy or sell vehicles. Much like Transfermrkt ok for a guide but a value and price depends on the buyer and seller not some third party data source with no interaction in the deal.

I’d go along with your decision to keep it simple and not include overall points in the H2H leagues. That’s what the main league is all about and not what the h2h is about.
Also impressive going in having nearly a full div 3. Well done to all in promoting and setting it up.

Comment #151Rodgers recent interviews sound like a guy who knows even if they sell their players for big big money he won’t get to spend it all
He was rather bullish in January about a total rebuild needed and the reality has properly kicked in now a bit like Pardew who used to get all confident until Charnley would tell him the chequebook was closed and he had to play someone out of position at fullback for the rest of the season…….
I would be amazed if he is still Leicester manager by the end of the season

I know we haven’t played a 3 man centreback but think it’s something Eddie should consider. It would allow Trippier and Targett more freedom and give protection to Trippier who has looked slow at getting back in the England games and our friendlies.
