Here is a part of Eddie Howe’s press conference this morning, followed by a discussion among Sky Sports reporters.
They point out that Eddie Howe always has the right answer, but that he has always been truthful to reporters.
And it’s pointed out how Newcastle’s new owners have been so sensible this year in the transfer market.
Newcastle are already getting kudos from the press for the way the club is being managed by our owners, as well as Howe being so outstanding as our head coach.
Remember Eddie Howe saved us from relegation last year which was worth maybe up to £150M to the club and saves two years on the development of the club into a world powerhouse.
And of course great news this morning that Eddie Howe has been rewarded and signed a new long term contract to stay at the club.
His family have also moved up to live in Newcastle, which is another sign that Howe could be at Newcastle for many years to come.
Sounds good great to us.

Comment #42Sorry if this is a dumb question but who’s Dani Olmo?

Comment #43Just to clarify what he said also, apparently its a deal structured in a way that is waiting for other pieces to fall into place, apparently an agreement is in place for Olmo but Liepzig will only sell once they get the green light for the Werner loan from Chelsea, could answer why we aren’t seeing any potential movement?

Comment #46So, either we get Werner on loan, but if he prefers CL football and goes back to Leipzig we get Olmo, so I presume a striker? Genuinely never heard of him which may be a good thing.

Comment #48CB, attacking mid, can play anywhere from No. 10 but also out wide, full Spanish international, 24 years old, he had a hit and miss season last year as he suffered an injury that kept him out from November to January (overall he has a good record with minimal injuries prior to that)

Comment #50Dani Olmo Will end up at the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid, maybe PSG.
Don’t think we are big enough for him right now. I could of course be wrong but can’t see that signing happening.

Comment #52Never heard of him either.
Actually never heard of 90% of the players we get linked with.
After that, I look em up and pretend I’ve known about them all along.

Comment #53@Cyprus – look at it that way if you want mate, I prefer to look at it in the way of we have the best defence we’ve had in about 20 years now.
Attack end of last season was amazing and I firmly believe we will get one or two more through the door.
I see nothing but positives. We have to stop demanding things just because our owners have a lot of money.

I haven’t seen the Olmo link which would most likely give it some credibility 😉
Good player and would improve us if he joined.
Thanks for the share mate. If you hear anything else let us all know.

Comment #55Assasin, I’m just having a read up on him, he’s apparently on £68k p/w at Leipzig, 2 years left on his contract, he turned Barcelona down in 2020 when Leipzig signed him, I’ve certainly heard worse rumours doing the rounds.

Just asked the lad who told me about the Maddison info and he said it came from the same bloke who told him Targett and Botman were done before it reached media. He said it doesn’t mean it will be done but it means the club have signed off on a big deal and only up to Leicester to accept or not

Respect for that point of view.
Me am getting a bit antsy. We have, essentially, what we had last season. I watched every game. We did alright, but we weren’t world beaters, bar the arsenal game.
If you’re an unfashionable side (yep), you do need to pay a bit over the odds. City done it till they got established, hell they still do.
Still, I do fully expect two new signings last minutes last day. So, no worries.
