Burn, Pope, And Willock Start Against Nottingham Forest

This is who Eddie Howe has named for this afternoon’s match against Nottingham Forest to kick off the new campaign. Nick Pope has been handed the number one gloves as he makes his Toon debut.

Dan Burn keeps his place as Sven Botman must wait to make his first start as a Magpie. Joe Willock keeps local lad Sean Longstaff on the bench which could mean Bruno Guimaraes takes the deeper role.

Other than that, the rest of the team lines up as most would have expected. Kieran Trippier takes the captain’s armband with Jamaal Lascelles on the bench, which is a decent one with Elliot Anderson and Ryan Fraser two potential options in the second half.

Here is the team Steve Cooper sends out for the visitors.

The new season is upon us and Howe has made his team selection. It’s up to these eleven to get off to a quick start in front of a packed St. James’ Park. The aim is three points with some difficult fixtures later this month.

Howay The Lads!

The second Howe said Botman was ready to start in that interview acfew days ago I was practically certain he wouldn’t be starting.

Couldn’t see him announcing one of his team earlier but could see him trying to throw off the opposition by having them think he’d start.

Being ready to start doesn’t mean he’s going to be picked.

Yeah as good as Longstaff has been I thinks Willocks speed in midfield is just too much of a weapon to ignore.

Eddie’s the manager and stands by his decisions. Is Dubs on his way out? He’s easing Sven in like he did with Bruno. He has also gone for the more attacking option of Willock.

Eddie staying loyal to the players who finished the season so impressively, we can`t really fault his logic. This Fulham v Liverpool has been a cracking match, lets hope Fulham hold out for the draw HWTL

Happy enough with the team he has put out, while i like Longstaff, Willock is better in attack and against Forrest, we have to go for the win.

Catchy I’m not sure, try using the code Neil emailed you maybe on Monday or whenever game week one is over.

I’m not closing it for new entrants,so if it’s possible you should be able to, but none of us are sure if it’s possible to enter it once the deadline passes.

Raffa’s worst move, even though I also loved Raffa. 😉

Got to say, I’m a massive fan of Mitrovic, for me that was the first big mistake by Rafa, he got rid of a good goal scorer, simply to stamp his authority on the team.
I would still have him now, Wood vs him, no choice

Catchy I’m sorry I don’t think its possible with the h2h leagues. I decided to check there now.

“Q: Can I still enter the Head-to-Head Leagues?

You may enter for the 2022/23 season, unfortunately the deadline for this year’s competition has passed. Managers are not allowed to enter after Gameweek 1.”

    https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/head-to-head-leagues/#:~:text=Q%3A%20Can%20I%20still%20enter,to%20enter%20after%20Gameweek%201.

But nonetheless I’d still try entering the code once game week one is over. You never know!

Dark days are over but in a way I’m going to miss the desperation, frustration and misery.

Maybe it’s they way we’ve been programmed over the years.

But the reason we always come back despite the agony is that when it’s good times there is no better feeling in the world than an NUFC goal and a win

I liked mitro at toon but he was a lazy bugger, didn’t do much last time Fulham came up but seems they have got him to actually help the team out these days, still not sure he’ll be a great striker but at least he’s putting the effort in rather than just standing around moaning all the time ( as per rafa days )

That starting 11 should put Forest to the sword today at home.
    Good preseason
Wilson fit and leading the line
    Trippier organising

Cooper has a lot of new faces, doubt they’ve had enough time to get to no one another. We need to go full pelt at them from the off and expose their inexperience.

    I’m going 3-0

Can see the reasoning behind playing Burn and Willock rather than Botman and Longstaff but we can change up if needed. Really want to see Anderson if we have a comfortable lead at some point.

Match day finally!! I know we all look forward to a win against Forest today.

But seeing even Liverpool faced a setback against newly promoted team. We all should calm down even if, touchwood, the result is far from ideal today.

One day we think Europe is within touch. The other day we worry about relegation and call for sacking manager. Those were the swing in mood every week in the past decade.

Look, we now have the best set up to rebuild the entertainer/ Keegan/Sir Bobby Robson era. We all should feel strong to trust our owners, management, coaches and players!
