Newcastle Announce New Shirt For Brighton Clash

The Premier League has ruled that all three of Newcastle’s shirts (home- black and white, away- blue with gold trim, third – white with green trim) will clash with Brighton’s blue and white home shirt.

Therefore Newcastle will wear a special one-off shirt on Saturday which will be pale blue and feature a skyline of the city as shown in the Twitter post below. This shirt will also be used as a warm-up shirt in the future.

Here is a statement from the club confirming this special shirt:

Newcastle United will wear a special one-off Castore shirt adorned with the Tyneside skyline during this week’s Premier League trip to Brighton.

The Premier League has ruled that the Magpies’ three new 2022/23 Castore kits – black and white, navy blue and white respectively – will all clash too closely with Brighton’s blue-and-white-striped home kit.

Accordingly, Newcastle United has gained special dispensation from the Premier League to wear a sky-blue jersey that features the silhouette of St. James’ Park and several city landmarks – including the world-famous Tyne Bridge – teamed with black shorts and socks.

The shirt will ordinarily be worn as a warm-up shirt by the players on matchdays but will feature FUN88, noon.com and Premier League branding for the trip to the Amex Stadium.

Newcastle will take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Saturday at 3pm. The Seagulls picked up an impressive three points with a 2-1 win at Manchester United last weekend. They currently sit one place below us in sixth in the Premier League table.

Good player mate, very quick but I just don’t see him being the right kind of player Eddie would want to bring in. Very talented tho

Here is a clip of him

White & Green strip clashing with Brighton’s predominantly blue kit?

They’re having a laugh. Either that or the league don’t ever want to see the “Saudi flag” colours get an airing

    I’d take him like mate.

He can play across the front line as well as a striker.

    In Eddie We Trust

    Hope all is well pal

If Pacquata & Dieng are available at the prices quoted and are legit then get them bought !. That would be job done till Christmas! Would be excellent business.
Why on earth are we discussing Maguire in depth. The Foxes must be delighted with what they got for him when they sold him to Manure. £65/75M was it ? Then they went on to win the Premier League? They have been lucky over recent years to get good money for their better players and still come up with quality replacements.
Southampton did that too for a while but are now beginning to pay the price and will certainly struggle to stay up this season.

Small World, I’m with you on this one. Pale blue is OK against blue and white stripes but plain white with green features isn’t!! – not buying it, more PL bullshit.

Be interesting to see if the white strip ever gets an airing.

Muriel would present excellent competition for us up front. Perhaps he was discussed and not Zappata when we played Atalanta recently?

For Dieng, 15 millions a little bit much… especialy in pounds.

Think we can have him for less.

No to Luis Muriel unless he’s available for £5m or under, his best days are behind him.

Yes to Paqueta and Dieng though

I can remember us not allowed to wear the black & white against Spurs white shirt so that’s quite similar!

If our colours are clashing should just go ‘skins’

It’s what we used to do 😉

Is kit clashing not a subjective thing anyway?

As I think I could tell them apart if one had stripes and the other didn’t. I’d especially tell if one had glaring green shorts vs blue or white shorts.

Surely our blue and gold shirt would suffice?

Maybe the ref for the match is colour blind?

Must say having a picture of the city on the shirt is quiet elegant.

Like the idea to promote the city as well as the club.

I guess it’s important for you my fellow Geordies, so the owners are smart on that.

I think the strip demarcation is mostly done for the tv audience, but I can’t see why pale blue v pale blue and white stripes is considered better that white/green v blue and white stripes.

Unless the cameras are colour blind? 😀

I remember those days too & if you were skins it always seemed to knack much more if you got the ball blasted off your back or chest than it did if you had a thin football top on 🙂 🙂

A lot on here seem a bit worried about us being unable to give Willock, Anderson and Longshanks much play time even in Shelvey’s absence if we sign cover . However we have all to remember that a strong rotating squad will now be important in view of the increase in substitutes rule. It follows that the squad will have to be much stronger to benefit from it.

    Bob,

Or our third kit which is very dark blue with yellow/gold shorts etc. Surely that is perfectly contrasting enough?

Unless our owners are hoping to cash in on this strip to fund a few more players before the end of the window…..

ditto! I thought Stringer Bell was a septic until I watched him on a chat show, couldn’t believe it. I knew Dominic West was British as I’d seen him on something before. Remember thinking after, why would HBO draft in 2 Brits? Maybe they didn’t think it was going to be as much of a hit as it turned out to be, dunno.

Told the directors at the auditions he was from Brooklyn as they only wanted American actors.

Brighton could have worn one of their other strips! We had to when ne of the Sheffield teams turned up in their stripes.
We wore the lovely blue strip, and I’m sure Alex Mathy scored a worldie.
Or I may have dreamed it,

I would be extremely surprised and confused if we signed Luis Muriel.

We’d have Wilson (30 yrs old), Wood (30 yrs old) and Muriel (31 yrs old) as our recognised strikers. That would be an extremely strange decision.

Just means in the next window we’ll have strikers all pushing 32 years old. That’s madness. Surely you need to bring a younger striker in now? Or we need to bring 2 or 3 next window or summer as well as improving and strengthening other areas. Gives us much more work to do down the line and isn’t really building for the future.

For those reasons I don’t think Muriel will be happening. He’s a good player and improves us but at his age it makes no sense considering the age of strikers we already have.
