This is who Eddie Howe has selected for this afternoon’s match at Wolverhampton. It has two changes from the 3-3 draw against Manchester City.

Bruno Guimaraes is not in the squad having picked up a knock. Sean Longstaff comes in for the Brazilian after starting in the Carabao Cup win at Tranmere.
Dan Burn remains at left-back despite Matt Targett’s availability. Chris Wood comes in for the injured Callum Wilson. New signing Alexander Isak is not in the squad as his work permit hasn’t arrived. Martin Dubravka is also absent.
This is who Bruno Lage has picked for Wolves.

Newcastle need a result to remain among the unbeaten and climb back up the table. Wolves are struggling but they are a dangerous side who will be desperate for all three points.
Guimaraes and Wilson will be big misses this afternoon. Wood and Longstaff need to put in performances to pick up the slack. This is their chance to make an impact.

Comment #3Shame not to have Bruno fit and no Isak on the bench. Hopefully a big performance from Willock and Longstaff to make up for it, with ASM carrying on from the Man City game. Not an easy fixture, especially with Bruno out, but can still take all 3 points. I’m changing my prediction from the other day and going for a 1-0 win with a goal from ASM.

Comment #4I’m so irrationally mad that Isak isn’t on the bench, lol. Ffs my day completely ruined lol.
They better win now, I’m like a complete child when I build my hopes up only for them to be dashed. 🙁 fml

I highly doubt it, think he’s just got a knock as was feeling his groin in the cup game. He seems to love it here and his best friend is now going to be in the same country. Doubt he’d leave now and doubt we’d accept any offers for him either to be honest. That’s my hope anyway.

Comment #8Hard to see how we get a result with that Midfield unless Willock steps up, but tbf, Bruno is never at his best away from home anyways.
I’m going to go against my gut and be positive and say we will nik a draw. Hwtl!!

Comment #11Huge job for Longstaff today. His first touch and intelligence/awareness is poor. I truly hope he shines today and shuts me up. Prove me wrong lad!

Comment #12Going to be tough today could be another Brighton – backs against the wall.
Was annoyed a tad We’d night when Eddie brought on Big Joe and Bruno had fear one or Yorker would pick up a injury the way they kicked lumps out of us.
Mind you these injuries could sharpen minds and get a couple more players in before window shuts.

Comment #13I love Eddie Howe but this is the first time he has wound me up.
You pay £60 mil for a new striker. He is match fit, uninjured and ready to go and our main striker is injured.
He doesn’t even make the bench?

Comment #19I was fairly confident we would get at least a draw against Wolves today but with both Wilson and Bruno missing that really throws a spanner in the works, i would definitely be delighted now with a draw to be honest HWTL

Comment #20The way that Tranmere kicked us and the injuries to Krafht and Bruno, you can sort of see why the top clubs play their reserves in the earlier rounds of the Carabou cup

Comment #22Sensing a heavy defeat today. Why the hell aren’t Dummett and Lascelles starting? Look at the options on the bench. Definitely could go down this season with that squad of players.

Comment #23This will be interesting. I have asked several times what happens if bruno and wilson get injured. Now we shall see. I am not looking forward to this game as much now. esp. with no Isak either.
Disappointing lineup but hopefully they can still do a job.

Comment #29Guimares missing is a big blow, I know lots saying happy with draw but if Europe is the aim this season, and it probably should be given second half of season form last year, then we have to be winning these games. We do need more depth though

Comment #39Bruno not playing is a blow no doubt, but cast your minds back to when he was signed, didn’t start a match for a good few games, partly to let him settle in but also because our team were playing great and there was no need to rush him, only gutted because I love watching him play, not because I think we can’t compete without him,of course we can

Comment #40It’s mad how many people on here and Twitter seen no Isak and just thought Eddie decided not to put him in the squad rather than an actual genuine reason like paperwork. Honestly that cheered me up a little lol
