Newcastle face a difficult test at Wolves this afternoon as the lads try to continue their excellent start. The Magpies are unbeaten and have a chance to climb into a European place with a win today.
Wolves have struggled to start their campaign with just one point. They did pick up a win against Preston in midweek in the Carabao Cup. Preston incidentally are unbeaten in the Championship with Freddie Woodman keeping six straight clean sheets.
This is the team I am predicting Eddie Howe will name this afternoon. It has just two changes from the 3-3 draw against Manchester City with Chris Wood in for the injured Callum Wilson and Matt Targett in at left-back.
Howe has a decision to make at center-back between Dan Burn and Sven Botman. Burn has been at left-back in Targett’s absence but, if he is fully recovered from his concussion, could keep Botman out of the starting eleven.
Newcastle will be without at least three Magpies for this one. Ryan Fraser faces a late fitness test while we heard the devastating news yesterday that Emil Krafth will be out of action for months.
Newcastle Injuries
Jonjo Shelvey (hamstring), Callum Wilson (hamstring), Emil Krafth (knee), Ryan Fraser (groin – late fitness test)
Wolves Injuries
Chiquinho (knee), Willy Boly (undisclosed – late fitness test)
Fans are optimistic Newcastle will remain among the unbeaten with over 90% expecting a result in our poll. Almost 70% see the Magpies picking up a win which would be simply fantastic.
We could see a debut from new signing Alexander Isak this afternoon. The Swedish striker was unveiled on Friday and is the club’s new record signing.

Comment #125That’s gonna be a tough match without Bruno. Our midfield will have it’s hands full against Moutinho, Neves and Nunes.

Comment #128Looks like we’re a little short today but still enough quality if we play to our strengths and keep tight at the back. We can win this but need to be committed for the entire 90 minutes.

Comment #131No Isak is solely down to the “Leavers” and their misguided choice. IMHO of course.. 😆

Comment #132Willock and Longstaff in midfield…
They really need to be at their best because that is a ‘walk through’ midfield for the oppo.
Those posters saying we don’t need an out and out DM in the squad hopefully will be proven right today – I’m not so sure.
I’d take a draw now with the team we have out.

Comment #133Well, I’m no authority on Mund, far from it, but having said that, I totally agree and can posit with quiet confidence that there’s no way under the sun, he would voluntarily, or by his own volition, stop posting on the blog.
