Newcastle Announce Local Lad’s Loan Move To Peterborough

Newcastle have announced that Kell Watts has joined Peterborough on loan until January. Watts is currently recovering from a knee injury but is expected to return in October.

This is the fifth loan spell of Kell’s burgeoning career. He’s had previous stints with Stevenage, Mansfield, Plymouth, and Wigan. Watts has plenty of experience in League One having spent the previous two campaigns there with the Pilgrims and the Latics.

Peterborough are trying to bounce back into the Championship after their relegation. Kell helped Wigan gain promotion last season so his experience will be a bonus at London Road.

Posh boss Grant McCann is thrilled to have Watts on board saying the following:

“I am delighted to get Kelland. He won the league with Wigan Athletic last season at this level.

“He is 6ft 4, strong in the air and comfortable on the ball, and is a left-sided center-back, so I am pleased we have managed to get it over the line.

“He has a really good pedigree and is an excellent defender.

“The only downside to it is that he is currently injured, it might take him three or four weeks to get back and available for selection, but we wanted to wait for him.

“We had other options that we were exploring, but he was top of the list and we were prepared to wait because of how good a player he is.”

Watts’s injury prevented him from impressing Eddie Howe this summer. He suffered the injury in mid-July and was forced to go under the knife soon after. He should get three months with Posh before his situation is re-evaluated at St. James’ Park in January.

Result was a kick in the bollicks…but the gutsy performance against them, man city and the resilience to keep goin against wolves and brighton for a point was a statement to the league that we are no longer easy points on the board for other teams….and that is worth 3 points in my eyes

Hi ottawageordie2, what was going on yesterday? Something about me or other TDS being accused of criticising you for your grammar?? Was all very weird to see someone (not you) blame me for something when I wasn’t even around. I scanned through some posts yesterday to see if I’d missed any to me and saw my name pop up a few times. Very odd.

I get what you are saying, I am happy with it but i understand why some may not be.

We have been taken over by billionaires. If you look back at when that has happened before, they spend 100’s of millions very quickly. You can understand why people would wonder why we didnt. I am not looking for reasons, just pointing it out. I assume there are them, FFP, realism etc.

I dont think people who are disappointed with the window compare us to Ashley anymore, they compare us to man city and chelsea when they were taken over.

In those terms, we have been fairly low key, so again, i understand those who wanted more.

I am grateful for any hope.

How would you all rate the transfer window out of 10? Not comparing it to an Ashley window, but judging in its own merit.

    Not impressed personally.
Anderson reminds me of Barclay an all. Should have dine better with a few minutes left the kid last night.
Maybe a bit controversial but think he has been talked up over what he has shown so far. Will see how the next few month pan out. He will now get a chance to impress.

    sir pug,

I know i am guessing here big time but by the way people speak i think its an older gen. I am 42 myself so i am in the same age group.

I think younger people are generally on twitter and not here.

I could be very wrong of course.

30 secs about rite I’d say ….. I wouldn’t say we were overtly time wasting players were shattered and picking up knocks, it was their corner ……if we were time wasting joe would’ve went into the corner when we were up the other end …..bindippers and Klopp were screaming and shouting, waving their arms about from first minute till the last …..fair play to em they intimidated ref and got rub of the green I.m.o …..still sucks like dogs balls tho as a toon fan ….hopefully we get some luck (as in a goal in added, added time or goal from corner that wasnt etc) as they say it evens out.

We would all have loved some action on transfer deadline day, with it being hyped up as it is, its like xmas eve, especially for us with the owners we have… But… We have had an amazing window, that I would personally rate as an 8/10. A central midfielder more and it would have been a 10/10 in my opinion. I am really looking forward to next summer already. I know that I am getting a bit ahead of myself, but here is my thinking. The last 2 transfer windows we had to buy players for positions where we were quite bad. Next transfer window, we are going to replace pretty good players for amazing ones, just imagine was the likes of Liverpool will think then?

Transfer Sage – we’ve signed 4 out of the 5 key players that I wanted to see us sign, so I’d give it a 8 out of 10 for that. However, with the injuries to Shelvey and Krafth and not getting in replacements for them, I’ll deduct a point to 7 out of 10. I’ll increase it by a point for each TDD signing we get.

Happy yes, Happy with what we managed to get in the door.
It may be over but we may get a Brucie Bonus last minute and it’ll be, nice to see you, to see you, nice.

Quick disclaimer there are two types of Brucie bonuses, my one is around the game show and not the other one.

Some on here probably don’t even know there’s two meanings. 😉 now you do.

I would rate window as a sevennnnnn.
But add January and it would have to be a 9. Think we have improved our squad this year more than any other PL team. Pope, Trips, Burn, Botman, Targett, Bruno, Isak.
    And not forgetting Wood….
Full new back 5. And a worldy midfielder and striker in 8months.
    Think we have done amazing.

Naptoon – yeah, I’m sure we’ll all be hoping the boot is on the other foot and we get a last minute goal behind the official minimum added time. We’ll get some luck at some point for sure, it’s swings and roundabouts anyway.

Leicester look a bit lost, Barnes playing well but that’s about it.

A lot of clubs will be in for Maddison and Tielemans in January but they’ll do well to keep hold of Barnes aswell.

Man Utd are improving, playing more as a team. I don’t like them but it’s good for England if Rashford and Sancho are playing well.

On so called big six loaning to us …..it’s gonna be tricky now they will see us as a pretender just about ready to challenge them …..they won’t wanna do us favours …..maybe obligations to buy if player is pushing but we ain’t gonna be getting their rough diamonds to polish up for them.

I would rate it at 7/10.

    Very solid but not spectacular.

If they had managed to sign Maddison and somebody like Pedro it would have been 10/10.

To be clear. I dont expect that they could have. I dont think many teams have managed to sign 2 or 3 crackers in 1 window have they?

Poor form from Dubs putting that out so soon after forcing a move. I reckon he’s bitter towards Howe. Read his statement and he thanks the fans but says nothing about Howe. At the moment, I’m just thinking screw him. Did a decent job for us but sulked and ran off when he was asked to compete for his place and stay part of the project.

As a global satellite expert, I can tell you what has happened today.

As you all know, we live on the edge of Europe (also known as there be dragons there boys). Everybody, all 500 plus players we were “linked” to, missed Newcastle International Airport and fell off the end of the flat world.

Lack of class with that post for sure but i am a grown boy.. he can f off and get splinters warming the bench

Naptoon – exactly. Though I think City wouldn’t mind loaning us a player and maybe neither would Liverpool. I’m not aware of any suitable ones they have though.

Chelsea is the one I think might loan us a player. I think they should get top 4 and we’re very unlikely to finish ahead of them. But a loan player might help us take points off Spurs, Arsenal, and Man Utd.

youngsters come along a lot easier in such good sides. pressure is off cos they are surrounded by winners.

problem for us over the last whatever years is that they were joining a _losing_ side.

it doesnt matter how good you are, if you join a losing team, you become what they are.

    great question, I missed it.

8/10 maybe 10/10 given Jan as well. Evolution not revolution. And… WE PLAY FOOTBALL again! even defeat last night in a very good game was better than watching us pre EH era and getting the odd win

Someone put up played 5 and 5 points relegation form

Man C, unlucky, Pool robbed, away to BHA, away Wolves beat Forest and some easier? games to come. last Sept 1st I would despair at watching us. Now, entertainers are opening the curtain. By next Sept 1st, the crowd will be clapping.
