Newcastle Announce Local Lad’s Loan Move To Peterborough

Newcastle have announced that Kell Watts has joined Peterborough on loan until January. Watts is currently recovering from a knee injury but is expected to return in October.

This is the fifth loan spell of Kell’s burgeoning career. He’s had previous stints with Stevenage, Mansfield, Plymouth, and Wigan. Watts has plenty of experience in League One having spent the previous two campaigns there with the Pilgrims and the Latics.

Peterborough are trying to bounce back into the Championship after their relegation. Kell helped Wigan gain promotion last season so his experience will be a bonus at London Road.

Posh boss Grant McCann is thrilled to have Watts on board saying the following:

“I am delighted to get Kelland. He won the league with Wigan Athletic last season at this level.

“He is 6ft 4, strong in the air and comfortable on the ball, and is a left-sided center-back, so I am pleased we have managed to get it over the line.

“He has a really good pedigree and is an excellent defender.

“The only downside to it is that he is currently injured, it might take him three or four weeks to get back and available for selection, but we wanted to wait for him.

“We had other options that we were exploring, but he was top of the list and we were prepared to wait because of how good a player he is.”

Watts’s injury prevented him from impressing Eddie Howe this summer. He suffered the injury in mid-July and was forced to go under the knife soon after. He should get three months with Posh before his situation is re-evaluated at St. James’ Park in January.

    The Last Jedi

Staff and Will are not bad players by any stretch at all. They make mistakes like all players. There are another 9 players to stop the ball going in.

You need 30-40 mil to replace them.. not easy to get. They are solid performers in the prem which is quite something.

they probably will replace them but it is going to take quite a while.

TDS ref Dubs. It is just the Czech/Slovak way of speech. He means no disrespect.

Ref the 16 year old Czech girl at US open tennis and hugged her father and he put his hand on her bottom!!!! yikes. but that is just normal in Praha. We are different from Dunderland.

Mearlam – I agree, Cannot fault Lobby and Willocks efforts, just lack a touch of quality at times. The odd stray pass or the dodgy first touch lets em down now and then. Same with Miggy, but great attitude from them lads

Started out as a comment from me to TDS. Misunderstood by more than one on here. At the end of the day it didn’t matter. Some of us (like me) are totally biased supporters. Some like yourself are more objective. For me, I am learning that it isn’t important. What counts is being a true blue fan and supporting the club and management. It’s the WUMS that are the problem and spoil the blog. Spelling isn’t important either. lol.

Need to take our anger out on a bang average palace at home, just destroy them and take 3 points as we need them

if you think Palace are bang average, you have not watched them this season. Viera has made a really good team there. We will win, I hope, it will be a tough game

Maddison what an effort …..he won’t sign a new contract and they’ll be fighting over him come jan / next summer …..presume Tillman’s will run down his contract and sign a pre contract in jan abroad or move on mega wages next summer.

Pug – I’m talking about Dubs joining Man Utd, putting out a statement saying thanks to the fans at Newcastle but no mention of anyone else here, then putting out a Tweet supporting his new team. A bit crappy when he’s still officially our player to be honest.

As said before, we move on from Dubs anyway.

Its hard to slate players that put so much effort into last night and longstaff pass to izak for the goal was exquisite … they may not be world class but we need squad players and although I’ve slated him in past he’s a decent backup that you know will put 100% in

I don’t blame dubs .. he agreed personal terms prior to the move so I guess there’s something there that means they may be paying him more to be a backup- anyway , can’t blame him – manure , despite their current predicament means he’ll prob get games in Europe

not to get deep here but being wound up by what people say on a blog post is a losing battle. if people say something you dont agree with there are only two choices is there not?

engage and say why they are wrong, or ignore them.

certainly dont want your time getting wound up.

its up to the individual not to get upset about the comments, not the person making the comments to worry they might wind you up.

Maybe this being a WUM !

i am trying to help.. i used to be easily wound up by b.s. on the internet but it was a long time ago.

ottawageordie2 – totally agree mate! Was a little odd to see it all, especially when I knew I wasn’t involved and also I don’t criticise people’s grammar. Many years ago I did but I became a little enlightened and thought it’s poor form to criticise someone who might be dyslexic or had a difficult time growing up in terms of education. They could also be foreign or maybe it’s just a typo. Petty to pick people up on it though I think…

The WUMs are a bit annoying but I try to ignore most of them. It’s when they’re spamming the blog that it becomes very hard for everyone to ignore them.

mearlam – it’s not about Ottowa or me or you engaging the WUMs, it’s about them spamming the blog and then some people being unable to resist engaging with them. Then you have half of the comments being from the WUMs or people engaging the WUMs and it becomes frustrating to try and filter them out. Often that means just closing down the blog even if you fancied having a decent chat. So yeah, they add nothing positive to the blog.

When other clubs were taken over by billionaires they were afforded the luxury of spending hundreds of millions because their was no FFP at the time.

We don’t have that luxury, smart quality signings are the way forward.

If they don’t improve the first team its a waste of time buying them as we’re trying to build a squad with in depth quality.

We’ve already signed half a team of top class players even with FFP, there’s nothing to disappointed with.

12 months ago Wilock was our only signing!

I gave the window a 7/10. Good progress made but one starting 11 player short and one squad player in the frontline missing.

I’d have liked another front player who can go out wide as a preference. Assuming Isak and Maxi will start alongside Wilson, but we needed another player to play across the front. Jaoa Pedro would have been ideal.

I think we really need a player in the middle of the pitch who can start alongside Joe and Bruno. I’d have loved Kalvin Phillips but as soon as City came in there was no chance, even though he’ll be lucky to start a game there.

I think we have enough for too 8, providing we don’t lose two of Maxi, Isak and Wilson for long parts of the season and Bruno is fit the majority of games. If Bruno misses a lot and if we lose two of those three for a long spell, I think we’ll struggle to get the top 10.

Regardless though, I’m very happy. Progressing in the right way, moving some players out and Howe is still improving existing players (look at Almiron this season).

Here’s to a good season even if we don’t get anyone else today.

I was saying if people didnt consider this, it might seem disappointing.

People like yourself and me do consider this so we see it all as a positive.

I guess we aren’t getting the centre mid we all wanted, but that’s okay, it’s most important we get the right players in the right positions at a fair price on the right money, which obviously isn’t easy. What we don’t get one window we’ll get in the next one though. Pope, Botman, Targett and Isak is certainly excellent business, even if we maybe paid too much for Isak, in a needs must situation, as we did with Wood, but judging by that debut, maybe not at all. He might just turn out to be the best of the lot, all things considered.
