The first summer window under our new ownership group has slammed shut. Newcastle didn’t add a fifth signing on deadline day so the tally stands at four new signings for the first team with another four for the academy.
The net summer spend stands at around £112m. It was mission accomplished as Matt Targett, Nick Pope, Sven Botman, and Alexander Isak have added immense quality for Eddie Howe to build with. The club were also able to shift out a lot of excess members of the squad.
Here is a look at this summer’s window sans the youth signings.

Newcastle were in for West Ham’s Harrison Ashby today. David Moyes was unwilling to let the youngster leave as he is their third-choice right-back. The 20-year-old was reportedly keen on the move, which may be revisited in January as he has just one year left on his contract.
Newcastle should be fine until the winter window opens as the World Cup cuts six weeks out of the campaign in November and December. There are just 14 matches until January including the Carabao Cup tie against Crystal Palace in November.
Here are the players who remain with Emil Krafth to be left out of the 25-man squad due to his knee injury. Elliot Anderson does not count against the squad total as he is under 21.
- Goalkeeper – Nick Pope, Karl Darlow, Mark Gillespie
- Center-back – Paul Dummett, Sven Botman, Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles, Dan Burn
- Full-back – Kieran Trippier, Jamal Lewis, Matt Targett, Emil Krafth, Javier Manquillo
- Midfielder – Joelinton, Jonjo Shelvey, Joe Willock, Elliot Anderson, Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes
- Winger – Allan Saint-Maximin, Ryan Fraser, Jacob Murphy, Miguel Almiron, Matt Ritchie
- Forward – Callum Wilson, Alexander Isak, Chris Wood

No… and for what i know, there’s not even needed to prove there’s real issues with injuries in the squad.
Well, anyway for domestic competition, Nice will play Europa League this year, don’t think he could play it until winter window.

Sorry mate but your claiming to understand FFP but are citing the fact we have no debt as a factor. It’s not about debt, Spurs are £1B in debt but still can spend £100’s of millions.

Fair enough mate, that’s how you view it and no way I can say if that’s right or wrong.
I view it a little bit differently and I can’t really prove if i’m right or wrong either.
Just different views on it.
It’ll definitely be interesting to see how we approach the January window though and that might give us a better indication into how much it’s effecting us. If we’re very quiet in it then maybe it’s because we splashed a fair chunk this window, so maybe it is effecting us somewhat. If we spend a decent amount again then maybe it isn’t such a concern.

What I will say though is that i’m sure we could have gone out and got any number of high profile people to come in and be our CEO. It’s a very enticing position to have given our backing and project.
We chose to go for Eales who is considered a bit of a commerical guru and has been heavily praised for turning Atlanta Utd into a commercial juggernaut. So I think his commercial work was very much a big contributing factor into him getting the position.

Thanks for proving my point and showing you don’t understand FFP at all.
When mentioning debt I meant the debt accumulated under the FFP laws which currently don’t include monies used for building of facilities etc.
Best not go into this any further as you clearly don’t have a clue or you’re looking for a argum

Nice to “meet” you too.
I’m the first poster you were warned about??? What the hell is this, the school playground? That’s just weird.
Nobody has insight into the financial details of the club unless you’re literally working at the club on the finances! And none of them will let those details become public. As I told you, I’ve read comments from genuine experts (including accountants on this blog and football finance experts) to come up with a fairly simply summary based on my understanding. The extra £100m (£200m with additional sponsors) theorised that we could spend would be over the next FOUR transfer windows. So if we spent that this summer, we’d have zero nett spend for the next TWO years! Smart spending? I don’t think so…not unless a no brainer signing good value was available, which would be weird seeing as other clubs would then pay more to get them.
Sorry about your inferiority complex and being unable to debate a topic with simple facts and clear opinions.

Comment #174What is Lesh’s soul purpose on this blog? I have noted that he is an agitator and target’s posters relentlessly, looks like I’m now in the firing line as me heeds clear above the trench and he has me in his sights for whatever reason i don’tknow.
Lesh and your band of merry masterbaiters give it a rest. The last time I checked this was a football blog. LET US TALK FOOTBALL. So, Lesh how do you feel the transfer window went and how do you see the new set up with Isac signing going? Do you feel they can play Wilson and Isac together in the same team at the same time, or would they rotate?. Just interested what your thoughts are on football matters, rather than reading relentlessly you taken the high ground with condescending posts whilst on the prowl constantly condemning those that may appose your beliefs. It does seem evident that you really do believe that you are the blog overseeer don’t you? Anyway as mentioned, im more than happy to engage with you with any football relat3d chat but anything else I will ignore you for reasons mentioned above, as you should me. Is that fair? If not then please explain why with an honest reply and we shall engage further if need be to sort any differences out. As basically you are intentionally having a go at another poster for no good reason, I’m a guy who just wants to post football and call out any posters who are clear and obvious WUMS that clearly DO NOT support NUFC but come on here to disrupt and attempt to kill the feel good factor we currently have. Look forward to your reply!

Comment #176Mund easy to say who cares about alts. I hadn’t mentioned my suspicions of Scorer being an alt, until I saw him laying into ToonDownSarf/South for being alts. You reap what you sow, if your not happy being called an alt, don’t do it to others, otherwise people have every right to comment. His first posts were all attacks from out of nowhere too, so no sympathy for people questioning him or ‘attacking him from nowhere’ as he says.

Comment #178For transfers I thought the club said that they run a traffic light system and need 3 greens from Ashworth, Howe and Nickson to then proceed to an offer? And that is the player, the package and the fit for the team, so plenty of variables there.

Sponsors next year will help greatly i’m sure, if they’re sorted. The league have tried to change how sponsorships can be done recently haven’t they? So who knows if they’ll change down the line and could restrict just how much we can make via that route.
At least with the appointment of Eales we’re looking to set ourselves up for the future, by growing our commercial income significantly to keep the books healthy in terms of income and spending. Think his appointment could prove to be a masterstroke and very very smart to keep FFP concerns at bay over the next few years.

Are we all white knights…?
I get what you are saying but if we all participate and get involved it will always just be about that.
What about the targeting of Scorer by a few…? Nothing got said about that.
It seems a lot just pick and choose when to say something and that’s my point in why we shouldn’t say anything at all or try not to.
We are forgetting the real purpose of this platform

Comment #189I don’t believe that someone starts talking on a blog and within 24 hours is insulting and belittling regular posters. Not unless they’re trying to make a name for themselves and somehow cosy up to a little group of people they want to align with. Very weird. I’m not a fan of anyone coming on here and instantly showing disrespect to regular and long standing posters.

Again, if that’s true then that’s music to my ears! Great to have a system in place which means everyone is on board in terms of a player coming in, thoroughly considered how they’ll fit into the team.
It’s still so refreshing and pleasing to see and hear us being run so professionally now.

Theres a lot of changes coming to FFP mostly UEFA driven as they’re “trying to level” the playing field.
Until the new rules or adjustments to the rules are released a lot of clubs are wary.
Spurs have just built their new ground and there’s talk of including building of facilities to be brought under the FFP umbrella.
Which could totally screw clubs like Liverpool and Man United if they ever build a new ground and Everton must be really worried.
