Summer Steal Was Newcastle’s Best Player Once Again

Newcastle are six matches into the campaign and in decent shape in the league. The Magpies have suffered from numerous baffling refereeing decisions that have cost them some potentially critical points.

Newcastle are still primed for a run into the top half of the table currently positioned in 11th on 7 points. They’ve also been without some key stars over the past few hectic weeks in which the schedule was very congested.

One player has consistently risen to the occasion early in this campaign. That is goalkeeper Nick Pope. The 30-year-old was again in fine form in the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace making some crucial saves.

Pope and his stingy defense picked up the third clean sheet of the season on Saturday. For his performance, Nick has topped another poll as Newcastle’s best player as he collected 30% of the votes.

The England international could be the league’s signings of the season if he can keep up his performances. If you take into consideration that he cost just £10m, his addition has to be one of the summer’s steals.

Joelinton and Kieran Trippier round out the top three with their performances. The pair have featured heavily over the past couple of weeks. They’ll be glad the schedule returns to one match a week until the latter half of October.

Sarge, it has been a great window, the choices of players has been top notch and all fitted in well with how EH wants his team to play and the attitudes to keep that dressing room harmony in check. Great stuff. I love how even the pundits that didn’t like us previously are really now starting to understand we are buying sensible and not just thrown money around willy nilly like others have.

Reaction to Erik Ten Hag spending £229m to reinvent Man Utd:

Wow amazing tactics, he’s a genius!

Reaction To Eddie Howe spending £123m at NUFC:

Well, it’s just all about the money isn’t it, of course they’re playing better

Yes, it might, but we are due for a win I think 🙂 That said, West Ham will be as fired up as us, having a bad decision go against them as well.

Matt Ritchie on his #NUFC career:

“I’ve had some amazing times here. I came here with a goal to get back in the Premier League. I’m proud in the part I played in that.

I’m enjoying watching the new generation of what Eddie is building. I’m enjoying the optimism around the place. I’m sure with the manager at the helm, the owners being so ambitious and the people within this special club, I can only see it going form strength to strength.”

    Valle,

    I hope so mate.

West ham are a good team – and like us, they have recruited some quality over the summer.

It’ll be tough, but I hope we get the win (I’m not gonna predict anything, ‘cos I’m not very good at it)

True, we are probably pretty close in terms of squad quality. I would say that we are better managed though, so since you wont risk it, I will stick my neck out and guess on a 0-2 win for us 😉

If it had been a forward or attacking midfielder it might have been more acceptable…especially at home

After years of a difficult relationship between the club and fans, it’s fantastic to see huge progress being made on supporter dialogue. #NUFC

Sorry for repeating myself again..again..again…but what happens if Isak is injured because of the unescesary pressure put on him because he’s the only quality forward we have because wilson is injured half the season…we should have broke the bank on at least one of our targets.. it could may well prove much more expensive in the long run

Hasn’t anyone watched west ham play this season???…especially the last three games???…they were every bit as good as chelsea.

It’s a draw if we’re lucky with everyone back fit and playing.

Our squad is too thin…if Burn or Longstaff or Fraser or Murphy are anywhere near the starting lineup then we’re knackered.

Isak (although scoring on his debut) will need more time to adjust to the Prem…he’s a month away from being as dangerous as Wilson, and if I’m honest I think he’ll end up as our wide right player just like his hero Henry.

ASI Fish. Am I right that you used to be in the forces? What did you do? If it was a vocational/technical job, would you not want to get into teaching in further education? There’s support out there for that.
