Newcastle Made An Enquiry Over Highly-Rated Brazilian U20 International – Report

Newcastle continue to be linked with young prospects. Yesterday, it was revealed that Rangers midfielder Cole McKinnon has been scouted extensively by the Magpies’ recruitment team. The 19-year-old is currently thriving on loan with Patrick Thistle.

Sport Witness has cited a report from Brazil that Newcastle have contacted Vasco da Gama over their starlet Andrey Santos. The 18-year-old has also drawn interest from Barcelona.

According to the report, Newcastle approached the Brazilian club for information on his situation. That may have alarmed the club as the young Brazilian has since penned a new five-year deal as his previous contract was due to expire next summer.

There is no indication the new contract contains a high release clause. Though Vasco likely rate the 18-year-old very highly and now hold all the cards after getting tying him down on a long-term basis.

Santos could be one to watch for in the coming years. He only turned 18 in May but has already racked up 23 first-team appearances for the Rio-based club. He is involved in the Brazil set-up having been called up for the Brazil U20s in June, though he didn’t make an appearance.

    martoon,
If the average is 7th then that’s a lot of people thinking we’ll break in to the top six. No harm in predicting that on a blog but would they place it at a bookies and I hope they don’t start blaming this or that if we only finish 8th or 9th.

    Martoon @ 63

It will be interesting to see the offside system at the World Cup.

There will be a sensor integrated into the ball and AFAIK it will detect the moment the ball is struck to determine that part of the offside equation.

How well it works remains to be seen.

Can we post tennis here or just golf

Have already won something, (17 Euros) Serena losing. Anyway, my two Italian players (ie. my bets to win US Open) are still in it. But now it’s the business end.

My women’s bet (Azarenka) is out 🙁

As far as the number of points that we have through 6 matches, we are fairly close to what we should expect.

We got a point against City that was unexpected. Liverpool away was expected to be a loss.

We dropped 2 pts against Palace that we should have won but Palace are not a poor side. Forest was 3 points for us as we expected.

Wolves, and Brighton away are probably fair to expect a draw in each.

So we have 7 points through 6 matches and we probably should have 8.

West Ham away coming up next. They are a better team than us on paper, going though a rough patch and they need to play on Thursday. On paper they should win so it won’t be a heartbreaker if we lose.

That said, I want to see us win every match and kick every ball for each 90 minutes. But where we are at the moment isn’t a disaster and is close to what we likely should expect if not what we want.

    Toonces,
It would be the most exciting season in years if we got sixth, I just feel that those that were Predicting it based on our gorm last ½ season were setting themselves up for disappointment.

    Wor B,
Got allocated a queue number of 2800 today and got four in a row of the Milburn stand corner of the Gallowgate, so my deduction was correct. If you get a queue number of less than 3K you can pretty much take your pick of seats. Nowt in the Gallowgate after 3K and any higher than 8K only L7 left.

I thin will be somewhere around 8th-10th with maybe a couple results to get us 7th.

My prediction (I think) for Martoon was 58 points this season, so whatever that we get us in the table. That would have been a tie for 6th last season but I think those clubs in the top 6 last season will all better that total this time around.

So going back in my memory banks Newcastle were beaten 2 – 0 away at Ipswich on this day 53 years ago……

How could you recall that I hear you ask?

Well…. It was the day I got married and I stopped on the hills on the way to Cumbria to get the result. Only disappointing event of the day!

Magic Mac things are ok but not been able to get much singing in due to respiratory issues. Heading down to Penzance at the week-end with my “little house on wheels” as Wor B would call it.

Have an overnight in Eavsham to break the journey it’s 495 miles in total. Hope to get some singing in down in the South West.

Evening John, that was a very interesting post about the day you got married and you stopping off in Cumbrai to find out the score, now thats what i call loyalty to the cause beyond doubt my friend, at least it was the only downside of that very special day John. PS sorry to hear music hasn`t featured much recently due to a few respiratory issues, i hope your feeling much better in the very near future John HWTL

Fingers crossed for Sunday – the battle of the VAR victims.

I will be feeling other pain though as I will be on the Great North Run – unfortunately it is now the Great North Walk as the bro in-law is recovering from a broken leg so we are going to walk it with him.
I’ll be in combats carrying weight (bergan as well as beer tank) raising money for the ABF.

If anyone is there wave at the fat ex-squaddie.

    Good luck to NUFC
