Newcastle continue to be linked with young prospects. Yesterday, it was revealed that Rangers midfielder Cole McKinnon has been scouted extensively by the Magpies’ recruitment team. The 19-year-old is currently thriving on loan with Patrick Thistle.
Sport Witness has cited a report from Brazil that Newcastle have contacted Vasco da Gama over their starlet Andrey Santos. The 18-year-old has also drawn interest from Barcelona.
According to the report, Newcastle approached the Brazilian club for information on his situation. That may have alarmed the club as the young Brazilian has since penned a new five-year deal as his previous contract was due to expire next summer.
There is no indication the new contract contains a high release clause. Though Vasco likely rate the 18-year-old very highly and now hold all the cards after getting tying him down on a long-term basis.
Santos could be one to watch for in the coming years. He only turned 18 in May but has already racked up 23 first-team appearances for the Rio-based club. He is involved in the Brazil set-up having been called up for the Brazil U20s in June, though he didn’t make an appearance.

I have seen him on twitter on the nufc hashtag too…
There is also a twitter handle and youtube channel called Toon Army India which I hope grows so that people eventually have meet ups in cities during games…Long long way to go though…

Does anyone know the final squad, it was top heavy as it was, we’ve brought three in and let seven go, does that balance things out or are we still one top heavy?

Tino Asprilla scores a great hat-trick vs Barcelona, 1997.

Comment #206If we bring in two in January then who gets let go, I think we might only bring in one and I think Ritchie might be looking to go elsewhere, he’ll know which team has a good chance of being promoted by then.

Comment #207I was glad to see Lascelles get a start and when you compare the way Eddie H dealt with him compared to the way Gerrard handled the Mings debacle, a league apart.

It’s no great shame if we don’t manage a win on Sunday albeit quite frustrating that we aren’t notching wins. We’ve definitely got a kinder run of fixtures coming up with some home bankers, most importantly, as Eddie H said, we’re playing well.

Havent worked out the squad but I guess Krafth surely, and Shelvey possibly are out for the first half.
EH wants to use the squad morale of the previous season so I expect incomings to happen in a trickle. Maddison in January is what I expect. Ritchie moves on. Ashby perhaps cause he wont take up a squad space.
Not sure what happens with Dubs..Heard that he may be recalled in case Pope is injured…is that an “anytime” option or a “Mid season January” option.

Comment #213Wonder how the refs are gonna square the balance in our game with wham?
Altho’, i have no clue why moyes was so upset with the outcome if their game v cfc. Looked a clear ‘foot in’ by Bowen, to my eyes. Probably just riding us, again.

We played well the second half of last season too, but were lucky as well. Shelvey free kick vs Leeds, Trippier vs Villa, Brentford early red card (challenge on Targett), Leicester extra time goal..
Not much luck this season despite better performances. Hence focus is on injuries…

It’s going to be bloody awkward if Man U bring Henderson back and Dubs has to come back here. I’m not sure what type of reception he’d get, it’s not like we forced him out, personally, I don’t think he’ll go down too well on his return.

#214,
That’s why I didn’t buy in to this top four form thing, it’s a different season and we’re still developing as a team and squad. We had a backs against the wall mentality and we took everyone by surprise with a revamped defence that had been so easy to carve open before the arrival of Targett, Burn and the reintroduction of Schar.

It’s odd how some players are ‘advised’ by their agent/s.
Football fans, notoriously, have long memories.
Pity, he was a good player for us.
Maybe he feels with manu on his cv, he’ll get a no.1 gig, somewhere?

That true…I dont see Dubravka coming back here. He will stay with ManU. Henderson wont come back as he is 25 or so and will want guaranteed football. I do wish Dubs all the best and hope he experiences some European footy with ManU.
Top 4 ? I see it as 9th 10th or 11th.
Risky transfer strategy in attack…We will either get a Top Class player or no one at all…Good for the long term, but short term is a little risky with injuries…

Comment #223I remember going to Craven Cottage yeeears ago now to watch us play Fulham in the neutral stand. Always liked their stadium, proper old style and wooden. Means you can make great noise when chanting by stamping your feet on the wooden floor 🙂 Unless it’s been updated now, but always liked the charm the stadium had for being so old school.
Those who got tickets to it, if you’ve not been to the ground before then i’m sure you’ll enjoy it and have a great day out 🙂

Comment #225Shame about Munoz but you’d imagine if he had the ability to cut it here, we would have seen a bit more of him by now or heard glowing reports. So the direction we’re heading, he probably never was going to make it here. All the best to him and i’m sure this experience will spur him on to make a decent career for himself. Saw clips of him scoring a glorious free kick and a bit of a tidy solo goal, so seems like he does have talent. Just needs to find his level and try to work his way up.
Best of luck to ya Munoz.
