Burn, Fraser, And Guimaraes Start Against Bournemouth

This is the team Eddie Howe has named for this afternoon’s match against Bournemouth. It has two changes from the scoreless draw against Crystal Palace last time out.

Bruno Guimaraes is fit and slots back into the starting eleven with Sean Longstaff making way. Howe has gone with Dan Burn over Sven Botman to partner Fabian Schar at the back.

Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson are not risked with the bench looking very suspect. There’s also no Elliot Anderson in the squad which is a concern. New signing Loris Karius backs up Nick Pope.

Here is who Gary O’Neil has named for the Cherries with former NUFC youth product Marcus Tavernier getting a start.

Newcastle have a great opportunity to push into the top half of the table. A win will move us just outside of a European place. Anything less will be big disappointment heading into the two-week break.

Howay The Lads!

    I literally can’t wait until its a midfield of Shelvey in DM Joe at 7 and Bruno at 8. With Isak, Wilson and Maxi up front.

    People are starting to forget already how good Shelvey has been recently and Howe is singing his praises saying he’s fitter and sharper now than he’s ever seen him.

    We’re gonna be very very strong in a months time providing we get no further injuries.

    Pity Maxi is not playing but good Bruno is. At least 3 -0 to the Toon.

    Surely Anderson has some sort of knock to not be on the bench?

    Anderson surely has a niggle, no way he’s not making the bench over some of those other lads.

    I feel sorry for Wilson, a place in the England squad is there for the taking imo, if only he could stay fit, which will never happen.

    Was Anderson in the under 21’s last night? Or is he injured?

    Strange, not even on bench. Good looking team though with Bruno back. Not going to predict a score but expect 3 points. 🙂

    Rob,

    Omnipotent midfield and attack. Shelvey would get loads of time to pick the pass for them front 3. Hopefully we’ll see that selection at some point.

    Even if Wilson comes back and scores an absolute bucket load of goals before the final England team is picked, I still can’t see Southgate risking giving him a squad place when he could get injured on the flight over there, nevermind actually playing football.

    I’d love to see it but Southgate doesn’t strike me as the gambling type, and all that is still presuming he scores a bucket load between now and then. Which also isn’t a certainty at all.

    Ye I’d like to see Isak do it with home crowd pressure now as well. We know he can perform but he wasn’t wonderful the last time at sjp.

    Obviously it goes without saying he’s not actually being judged. I’ll do that at the end of the season.

    Rob,

    Aye, bit hamstrung with the options for wor Eddie at the minute. Not a fan of international breaks, but this might have come at a decent time. Could have everyone back and Shelvey not far off after the break, fingers crossed mate.

    Greetings one and all…Busy couple of weeks for me…ended up in Rota/Cadiz Spain for a few days on a trip so that was a nice change. Playing catch up here every couple of days that I can but seems not much going on since the queens passing. Ready for some football. These two week breaks, planned or not always seem to take forever. Been so busy didn’t get my FPL sorted for this weekend either. Glad to see Bruno back and looking for a solid win. HWTL!!!

    Tfb Shelvey is almost certainly going to ve back after international break.

    Howe was saying recently his progress is faster than expected and he’s back training on grass this week.

    Another solid 2 weeks I reckon he’ll be fit and ready, fingers crossed. I’m really excited to see if he still carrying his end of season and preseason form. If he is then we’re getting some plsyer back, also think with the extra quality we now have he also won’t have to do as much which could possibly benefit him even more, performance wise.

    Cracker that Bruno is on from the start, he gives the whole side a lift and lifts the levels of everyone around him. Disappointed neither Wilson nor ASM are in the squad but we should have enough to beat Bournemouth comfortably. HWTL

    I dont know what it is with newcastle fans but the positivity over Wilson being fit is crazy. there is no chance that guy is going to be fit for more than handful of games ever again. a shame of course but we need to move on.

    He will not play for england and he will not be playing for us much either. I have no interest in players who cannot stay fit.

    Not his fault of course but i am pretty sure my employers would be pretty annoyed if i only showed up a couple of times a week.

    With Isak in the squad we can use Wilson more sparingly which in turn could help prevent consistent long-term injury. You have you admit that Wilson off the bench for 30 minutes is a much better option than Wood.

    Erling Haaland numbers are really insane #MCFC #Haaland

    14 goals in 10 games with Man City;

    100 goals in last 99 appearances;

    26 goals in 21 Champions League games;

    …and it’s still September 17 — just 10 official games.

    Reminder: he’s still 22.

    He will become the GOAT!!! FACT!

    He’s an excellent player and his numbers are absurd but Leo Messi transcended the game and from a technical perspective is and always will be the finest player to have played the game in my opinion.

    For sure, i am hoping we can use him as a sub because our bench is championship level at the moment. Not having a go at the players, they try their best. If we need to change a game, we simply cannot. Our 11 is always our best 11 and if that cant win a game.. we dont.

    That is okay though, its changing slowly, cannot do it all in one year.

    Talking about striker wise here and there was only one who took the GOAT title and that was R9

    Ronaldo R7 was better than Messi anyways

    Messi had a world class team around him always even tho he was very special but Ronaldo did it on his own

    This Haaland praise is annoying me a little. If you put him in the Wolves team he would have not scores so many. He doesnt create his goals, the ridiculously good players around him do.

    Sure, he is very good player, not saying that. But it is the team creating his stats, not just him.

    You put any half decent striker in that team they would do brilliantly also.

    Sterling for me is a complete muppet despite the weekly articles on the bbc saying otherwise. He still managed loads of goals.

    Kane would have score loads if he went there too.
