This is the team Eddie Howe has named for this afternoon’s match against Bournemouth. It has two changes from the scoreless draw against Crystal Palace last time out.

Bruno Guimaraes is fit and slots back into the starting eleven with Sean Longstaff making way. Howe has gone with Dan Burn over Sven Botman to partner Fabian Schar at the back.
Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson are not risked with the bench looking very suspect. There’s also no Elliot Anderson in the squad which is a concern. New signing Loris Karius backs up Nick Pope.
Here is who Gary O’Neil has named for the Cherries with former NUFC youth product Marcus Tavernier getting a start.

Newcastle have a great opportunity to push into the top half of the table. A win will move us just outside of a European place. Anything less will be big disappointment heading into the two-week break.

Comment #82Haaland is unquestionably a terrific player, but even I’d score goals playing in that City team and I’m 73!!! 😆

Comment #86Good to see Almiron making u-turns every time he gets in the box. This guy is a detriment to the team in this position on the right.

Well considering Messi can’t play at the euros yes. They’ve both won their continental competitions. I don’t see a problem in comparing it. And Messi too argentina to the final of a World Cup as well.

Comment #92You get the feeling we won’t score our goals today from crosses. Coners not included.
Think we need to start pushing it along the ground more, get Miggy assisting Isak.

You’re a bit harsh… not mentioning the proud tradition of this competition, perhaps the firs round is not top level, but when it come to the semi finals, this is a world class tournament.

Comment #100Euros is higher lever for sure. But I don’t understand how you can value Ronaldo taking Portugal to a euro final and they won the final without him. Over Messi taking argentina to the World Cup final. The difference between the two is that Ronaldo’s teammates stepped up and Messi’s didn’t. If higuain buries his chance we’re having a different conversation.
For me the difference is this. If Ronaldo plays and doesn’t score he was probably invisible. If Messi doesn’t score he still probably put in a 8/10 performance dropping deep and dictating play.

Comment #107We’d be here all day Martin but the underlining fact is they are both world class players who we are all very fortunate to have seen in our era but for me R7 is the best player there has ever been, closely followed by Messi.
It’s an arguable debate because nobody can prove either way but we can both just accept we are lucky to even have the debate in the first place

I don’t agree mate as you only have to see the previous winners to understand that. Chile won it two years in a row not long ago.
