Newcastle Against Bournemouth – Team Prediction, Injuries, And Fan Optimism

Newcastle’s campaign gets back underway today with Eddie Howe’s former club coming to St. James’ Park. With the international break looming and last week’s match being postponed, this is the only match in a four week period so Newcastle must make it count.

A win could propel us into the top half of the table within striking distance of a European place. It would also be just the second league win of the campaign and a perfect way to start the break.

The Cherries will hope to get one over on their former manager. They’ve picked up a draw and a win under caretaker manager Gary O’Neil. A result will ensure they remain out of the bottom three.

This is the team I am predicting Howe will name today. It is unchanged from the scoreless draw against Crystal Palace. Though, Howe has some selection decisions to make with Bruno Guimaraes potentially available and Elliot Anderson a strong candidate for his full Premier League debut.

Newcastle have been able to navigate the previous few weeks without injured stars Guimaraes, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Callum Wilson. They may have to do that again this afternoon with Callum and Allan not expected to take part.

The injury situation is improving with the encouraging news that Jonjo Shelvey has started running. He could return early next month with a packed schedule until the World Cup break in November.

Newcastle Injuries

Karl Darlow (ankle), Jonjo Shelvey (hamstring), Bruno Guimaraes (hamstring – late fitness test), Callum Wilson (hamstring – late fitness test), Allan Saint-Maximin (hamstring – late fitness test)

Bournemouth Injuries

David Brooks (hamstring), Joseph Rothwell (thigh), Benjamin Pearson (knee), Junior Stanislas (groin – late fitness test)

The poll for this match reveals that fans are extremely positive the lads will pick up three points with 90% predicting a win. Anything less would be very disappointing with two weeks until our next match at Fulham.

I liked the look of Nicky`s team to start today apart from Longstaff i would put either Anderson or Willock in front of him any day.
If Longstaff does start and once again doesn`t perform, against arguably the relegation favourites, then he should be benched indefinitely imo.
Bournemouth don`t have a strong CM so surely Longstaff should put in a good performance right?
I hope he proves me wrong but …..

TDS, a lot of what you call Americanization can be put down to social media. They have algorithms to put the extremists to the top of peoples feeds to boost arguments and boost ad revenue. And Munster, Ive worked with dozens of Americans and believe me they complain as much as any nation, although perhaps in a different way.

Ile stick with my 2-0 prediction, not a hammering but a display similar to Forest will do me.
I hope Bruno plays, he is the key to my confidence factor, if he plays i think it`s a comfortable day at the office, if not a close 2-1.
I just don`t trust SL, will be like playing with ten men.

Fenham – in Turkey but at a resort, only have to worry about 1 meal a week. There are options on the resort but it’s not a pushy place. Played tennis and been cycling so far but will probably go kayaking tomorrow and might take a refresher at dinghy sailing. Of course, there’s time for chilling and eating/drinking too…

And yeah, that’s me in the picture. Put it up there a while ago as I thought it was amusing both showing my height and me golfing. Simple things please simple minds they say…

Darnik – I’m all for freedom of speech but there’s still a time and a place. When people feel very passionate about a topic at a certain time, I get that protests get the most attention during that time but they only really garner support from the extremists anyway. I’d probably describe myself as more anti-monarchy than pro-monarchy but frankly those anti-monarchy protestors right now can do one, they don’t have my respect and I’d tell them to get stuffed if they asked for my support right now.

ZG – social media has just accelerated it though. I noticed it in the Friends TV series years ago and it was one of the reasons I didn’t like it (I know, unpopular opinion!). Someone would buy a dress and it would be “the best dress ever” or they wouldn’t get a job and it would be “terrible news”. Everything is as sensational and it put me off.

And I think powerful organisations have seen how popular these sensational opinions are. They’ve analyses the patterns and methods, then they’ve monetised them and even weaponised them.

Good shout about the young man Anderson. You could well be onto something there mate. Aye my libe up on that call is:

    ++++++++++++++Pope++++++++++++++
    Trippier ______Schar______Botman___Target
    __________________Bruno__________________
    __________Anderson_______Joelinton_______
    Almiron ____________________________Fraser
    ____________________Isak______________________

If Eddie doesn’t want to risk Bruno, change him to Longstaff.

When we get all our sqaud back fit and healthy:

    ++++++++++++++Pope++++++++++++++
    Trippier ______Schar______Botman___Target
    __________________Bruno__________________
    ______Almiron_______________Joelinton_____
    ___Isak____________Wilson_______Maximum

Great team that above that will give any team a good go,. We’ve proved it against Liverpool scumbags and Man City.

Today’s game is absolutely critical, and I really believe the day is today we finally give someone a right hiding 5:0

    HWTL!!!!

There’s freedom of speech then there’s shouting bomb at mecca. You have to use a bit common sense. Social media and blogs mean 1000s of people could be reading your words. 15 years ago only your friends were listening to you so you could say whatever you wanted.

    TDS,

Sounds like your having some sporting fun on your holiday. I guess I was young when I went to Turkey and went to the wrong place(s) tbh…

Hey as you are in turkey you’ll be able to watch the match today somewhere surely?

Ps … In your avatar, there is a tree just behind you. I think it’s not a tree, it’s paparazzi disguised as a Christmas tree hopefully getting a picture of the great TDS super duper world breaking drive down the fairway 😉 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your holiday with the wife.

Excited for the match. Hoping to get three points on the board. I think we should have too much for Bournemouth. I’m not expecting a 9-niller, (although I wouldn’t complain) I expect Bournemouth to show some discipline. They’ve had a good couple of weeks with their caretaker manager so shouldnt really be losing by large margins.

I hope we do have Bruno back, I want him to start but I would think if he’s fit he’ll be on the bench. I would like isak to open his home account today. More so as I have him captained in my vpl team.

Which reminds me, good luck to Worb for the rest of the gameweek. Should be an interesting match up. 🙂

I’ve been to Turkey a few times. Really loved Istanbul, but didn’t like the beachy areas like Antalya. Agree that the shopkeepers/ salesmen are annoying. Whatever country you say you’re from they know a handful of sentences in that language. I always say I’m from Iceland. It stumps them.

Fenham – I like my sports. No golf here sadly but plenty of other sports.

As for that drive, it went went wide right and neatly into the trees I think! The shot was not photograph worthy…

Definitely going to enjoy it so cheers, had also just spoken to the missus about watching the match. Didn’t get much of a response so will have to try again…not sure if they’ll be showing it but will try!

First game in 14 + years. Wouldn’t go under the slugs ownership. But blagged a ticket and then went through the match off / match on drama with the queen’s death.

Can’t wait and hoping for a solid win. If we get beat I will regard myself as a curse and never go again to jinx the team.
