Newcastle’s campaign gets back underway today with Eddie Howe’s former club coming to St. James’ Park. With the international break looming and last week’s match being postponed, this is the only match in a four week period so Newcastle must make it count.
A win could propel us into the top half of the table within striking distance of a European place. It would also be just the second league win of the campaign and a perfect way to start the break.
The Cherries will hope to get one over on their former manager. They’ve picked up a draw and a win under caretaker manager Gary O’Neil. A result will ensure they remain out of the bottom three.
This is the team I am predicting Howe will name today. It is unchanged from the scoreless draw against Crystal Palace. Though, Howe has some selection decisions to make with Bruno Guimaraes potentially available and Elliot Anderson a strong candidate for his full Premier League debut.
Newcastle have been able to navigate the previous few weeks without injured stars Guimaraes, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Callum Wilson. They may have to do that again this afternoon with Callum and Allan not expected to take part.
The injury situation is improving with the encouraging news that Jonjo Shelvey has started running. He could return early next month with a packed schedule until the World Cup break in November.
Newcastle Injuries
Karl Darlow (ankle), Jonjo Shelvey (hamstring), Bruno Guimaraes (hamstring – late fitness test), Callum Wilson (hamstring – late fitness test), Allan Saint-Maximin (hamstring – late fitness test)
Bournemouth Injuries
David Brooks (hamstring), Joseph Rothwell (thigh), Benjamin Pearson (knee), Junior Stanislas (groin – late fitness test)
The poll for this match reveals that fans are extremely positive the lads will pick up three points with 90% predicting a win. Anything less would be very disappointing with two weeks until our next match at Fulham.

Respect to your missus mate and fair play keeping her fed and hydrated.
I seen today about Schofield and Willoughby que jumping which was absolutely disgraceful and to think Becks stood there for 13 hrs to get in the right way. I really hope there’s some big backlash for them

Comment #93Gloom, you’ve totally go that wrong. If people want to grieve, that’s their prerogative. But I find it odd that anyone who doesn’t know the queen would be in “deep mourning”. There is quite a difference between being sad about it and been so traumatised, but if people can’t see that nuance I really couldn’t give a shiit. But I’d be grateful if they were accurate when they quote me. I would also back up what Ruddy said. Finally, as a straw pole how many others on here are currently “deeply grieving”?
Because I wouldn’t be on a blog or looking forward to the football if I was deeply mourning y’know? I don’t blame anyone for feeling down about the womans death though, nothing wrong with that.

#87,. My Mam is a very proud Irish woman,. And wow did she love our late Queen,. Me Mam has been a proper royalist since she came to these shores from Donegal in the 60’s when she was only 19 to work .
Good on your missus and kudos to her for queueing for all those hours to pay her respects to our late Queen as she lay in state… You have a great respectful wife there mate. Id be proud 😉

Comment #101Doubt if there’s many Brits who are not sad at the death of the Queen and it’s right to mourn but the media have gone over the top with the coverage, as they always do with big news!

Comment #106EGB – honestly, most people I know and speak to are not sad at the death of the Queen. Most people I know are also respectful about the situation but frustrated about things being cancelled. I had a chat this morning with the cycling guide and an older couple on the topic and we all felt similarly. I made the point that the only reason for cancelling leisure activities that I think it fair is if a significant number of employees feel it’s important to watch the funeral.

Comment #114I’m not a royalist, but I do appreciate their role in our constitution and the history behind it.
I’m very sad about the Queen. She committed herself to a lifetime of service to the Country and kept her promise for a shade over 70years! Amazing. Deep respect for that.
However, I’m sick of the wall to wall almost 24 hrs per day coverage being served up by the mainstream channels. If I wanted to spend days watching queues, I could go to Disney World.
That’s my personal view, I’m sad, it feels a bit like everyone’s Ma has died at the same time. But I’m not going “over the top” it’s just my opinion. I’m as entitled as anyone to voice this view, and I won’t shout anyone down who holds views more extreme than mine whether pro or anti. But I will always respect their entitlement to hold their own views, we live in a free democracy which is overlooked and stomped on by too many, too often. I also blame Social Media for “skewing” the debate and the reality.

Bruno has been very sorely missed. We were not the same without him in the team. Joelinton wasn’t at his best so there is that knock in effect factor.
Great to see him back and very confident of a too quality display today.
