VIDEO – Here Are The Highlights And Goals In Another Disappointing Draw Against Cherries

Here are the two goals in yet another disappointing draw for Newcastle at home to Bournemouth.

These are the games we should be winning if we are going to get anything better than top 10 this season.

But Bournemouth defended well and went ahead through Billings after 62 minutes, with goalkeeper Pope having no chance with Billings’ volley.

But 5 minutes later we got a penalty and new signing Alexander Isak scored from it.

But old problems in the final third are still there for all to see – no cutting edge, and the lads surprisingly lacked urgency this afternoon.

This is the 6th draw this season with one win and one defeat – that’s 8 points – five better than last season – but we need wins.

The commentary is in Spanish.

Did I say the result wasn’t good enough?

We have Isak in the team with his height and the crosses that did come in went to Fraser the smallest player on the planet.

Sorry Eddie but I for one don’t know what the game plan was, then with Wood and Isak on the field we then decide to pass the ball from side to side and not put in any decent crosses.

We ain’t going to be a top 6 less alone 8 team if we cannot beat the Cherries at home.

I don’t care how they set up we all know this was going to happen.

Dominating teams now, tons of shots, decent amounts on target… ruthlessness is required.

    Rotonda

Not a bad shout trying willock on the right wing. Miggy has lost my confidence completely.. not like he needs it or cares mind.

Willock carries the ball and has a good cross. closes down well too.

I want miggy dropped. not a terrible sub either, better than murphy.

I feel sorry for some of these players, asked to do things they cannot do very well

Boom #4 spot on hit the nail on the head. It’s why I said earlier let’s take the positives out the negatives. We are dominating games now. What we need as you’ve quite rightly pointed out is that cutting edge. The players we will bring in,, in January and Wilson and Maxi back will provide that.

If we have more luck this season without the injuries and disgusting VAR decisions we would be great. However, we are improving that’s for sure. We move on keep our chins up and most definitely keep the faith. 🙂

The thing for me is the teams that do well are the teams that can change formation on the fly or game to game.
It’s like teams know how we play, we don’t mix it up enough, playing one up front with let’s be honest, shit balls feeding the one striker.
Murphy, Longy, Wood, Willock, Need to go in Jan, when Murphy and Longy came on I was like now we are fcuked.

Going to gave many more games like today when we have to take the game to the opposition who sit deep as we do not have the guile to break teams down with the killer pass or movement.
Today it went from one wing to the other then back at snails pace. When we did get down the line we turned back and passed back
When the crosses went in no one gambled at the front post – to many floated in and to near keeper
    Frustrating

Been saying Willock should be tried out on the right for a long time now and got shot down.

He always find himself running the byline and in the moment he can carry that ball really well and create his own space. The most important aspect is ha can put a right foot cross in rather than Miggy 99% of the time coming back on to his left and then the moment has gone.

Can’t see it happening like but something needs to change. We desperately needed that right winger

Seems like the same posters who used to berate fellow posters who pointed out flaws in performances under the latter Ashley years are up to their old tricks. A leopard never changes its spots.

We’ve spent £200m since January to bring an ageing squad lacking in talent and depth up to scratch in order to compete in the Premier League but now we need investment on a similar scale if we’re to create a 25 man squad capable of competing in the league and the cups.

Barring injuries, I’d back our starting XI against most teams, but once you delve into our squad and the likes of Jacob Murphy are among the first people we bring on, then you see how lacking in depth we are.

A lot of the crosses were just stood up today. These were easy takes for Bournemouth goalkeeper.

Isak also never got across the front post which is pretty much Striker 101

1 win all season is very poor, squad depth starting to show.

Honestly I would drop either Willock and Miggy or even both, Willock played better for us of the bench, Miggy works so hard running around he needs a break, I would put Richie on the right and play Anderson somewhere in midfield.
Of course we may have Maxi and Wilson back so that kills off all the above, let’s hope they are but if not let’s change it up a little.

Frustrating, Bournemouth had us sussed. Folk drawing unfavourable comparisons between this performance and pre-takeover Toon are way off the mark I think tho. The fight was there and players were playing at the level they are at, with many a weak link hanging over from the drek years. I knew that would be the story of the season, evident earlier than expected because of injuries. I don’t see what the manager or owners could have done better really and that’s why I don’t have a lot of time for the pissing and moaning about the state of things on here. Smacks of entitlement. And no one’s cancelling you for moaning, just saying it’s boring and pointless. Murphy and Wood are shite yadada. Aye we know. Transition season, Rome wasn’t built in a day and all that. Hated hearing the booing at the end hope that was only for the Ref we need to keep St James rocking and positive as fek despite days like today

    Little vent/rant!

Lots of my friends who support other clubs really thought that we would make Europe this season. I always said no, that won’t happen, thought that eighth would be the best we could do but would be very happy with a top-10 finish.

People who wanted to sell Saint Maximin in the summer should hang their heads in shame. You fools would have us playing with donkeys and lose our best attacking threat. We’re so poor in the attack 3rd without him. Even if he doesn’t score or get an assist he troubles opposition players drag them out of position and create space for others to exploit. Same with those who wanted rid of Jonjo. His passing alongside Bruno’s just brings another dimension to our game. Two of our most technically gifted players.

Too many water carriers in the team e.g. Willock, Almiron, and Fraser. It’s okay when you have one or maybe two of them on the pitch but when it goes to three or four it just destroys the whole beautiful game Eddie is trying to create for us. Team is so unbalanced with too many of the dross ballers on the pitch. Almiron & Fraser should be impact subs at best (with their pace & energy) just like how Fulham used Dan James last night cos they’re just runners, nothing else.

We just lack so much creative/attacking edge. Just look at that finish from Maddison against Spurs. We need to sign him in January. And a quality winger. I’d love the Georgian guy from Napoli. Unrealistic probably but a similar mould of player would do. Just look at our attacking options and compare them to West Ham’s. West Ham have Antonio, Scamacca, Bowen, Fornals, Lanzini, Cornet, Paqueta and Benrahma as attacking options. So much depth, that we just really lack atm.

End of the day it’s a process and we won’t be anywhere near relegation but we can’t afford to drop too many points as we need to keep in touch with the top half of the table. Then hopefully with Shelvey, Wilson and ASM returning we’ll be able to up the ante a bit more and have a more balanced team before the World Cup. Then rejig and sign to attack minded players like Madison and a winger.

Don’t despair it’s not panic stations yet but we know there’s a lot of work to do to achieve top 10 leave alone top 8 & then top 6.
