Another Magpie Suffers An Injury With His International Squad

There is news emerging from the Brazil camp that Bruno Guimaraes has picked up a thigh injury. Sport Witness has cited a report from Globo Esporte that Guimaraes is set to miss tomorrow’s friendly against Ghana with the injury.

Bruno trained normally on Monday and Tuesday but felt something yesterday. A subsequent scan picked up the injury. Though it does appear to have been caught early as Craig Hope is reporting the injury is minor and he may yet play for Brazil.

This is the second injury a Magpie has picked up on international duty. Earlier today, Alexander Isak withdrew from the Sweden squad with an unspecified injury. He was able to train by himself yesterday. However, the results of an evaluation by Sweden’s medical staff have ended his international break early.

Newcastle have already suffered a rash of injuries this season. Guimaraes just returned from a hamstring injury last weekend while Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson have yet to return from their hamstring problems.

The news on Wilson is encouraging as all signs indicate he’ll be available to play at Fulham after the break. Saint-Maximin has still not been cleared to return to training after suffering a setback recently.

My mind is split about the value of friendlies but not how injuries are dealt with. If a player picks up a knock they should send him home no matter how minor the injury. It takes the onus of the player. It also protects our player from over extending himself when he should not play just because he thinks he should.

I just wish we had the choice of 26 fully fit players to select a team from. Now wouldn’t that be grand eh?

Note 26th player = Elliott Anderson!

Fenham – the book does discuss how evolution is no longer the natural selection it’s been historically as odious turds like him have opportunities to reproduce, it also discusses how trickle down economics often doesn’t work despite die-hard capitalists like him saying it does.

People like Mike Ashley are a symptom of our modern society sadly. He might be good at rescuing faltering businesses but he’s shocking at anything to do with actual people.

Magic – not home until next Wednesday evening so plenty of holiday left to enjoy! I used to be a handy pool player myself as it happened but those tales would be too much for some to handle I suspect…

But I think it sounds like someone else (Taco I think?) would have me beat even at my best…

    The Taco Taker,
From the other day, I’m not sure if my thoughts on Howe’s system of how he likes to operate a fluid system both in possession and during transition would have been an anecdote to ‘the last jedi’ claiming that Howe had no plan b.

    magicmac,

It would have been good to have met up with you prior the Brentford game but I won’t be back from my Cornish trip by then.

So far I’ve only met, in real life, one person from “The Blog” and that is Carltoon!

I’m sincerely glad you didn’t get “your stuff” stolen on this trip of yours! It must have been quite a shock!

I was seething yesterday on my way back to Penzance from Plymouth on the train. I was able to pre book assistance with my mobility scooter. But a couple of rotten individuals had dumped all their luggage on the seats reserved next to the scooter. No one owned up to doing that but I had a feeling who it was. As I was travelling to the end of the line I knew they would have to “turn up” for their kit before I got off the train! They got off at at Redruth and they got both barrels from me! Rotten individuals!!!

I seen someone on twitter saying that “anyone saying that Howe’s training methods are causing these injuries, needs to give their heads a wobble” although I essentially agree with him, I’d like to think that the subject could be broached with a bit more civility on here and those claiming that could come up with a bit of evidence to highlight their findings.

You would like to think the obvious upside to all these injuries and the realisation our squad is paper thin is that we will invest as much as we can in the Jan window to at least give us some depth and to improve on the first team squad as well as the bench.

Improving the first team squad will drop some existing first team players to the bench which will of course strengthen the bench and increase competition…but the real issue we have is our bench is pants and not for for purpose.

We wont get any help from other Prem clubs so we should have all our scouts in europe and south america doing deals now

Magic, it’s a fair point of how people wud probably get on better in person. Myself and Fenham had a dust up last night but I think he misunderstood my point of view. I certainly wasn’t looking to be controversial etc. So I’d even buy Fenham a pint and if we didn’t talk about nufc we could talk about the joy of irish mammies. That’s the way it should be. I was hoping to catch you and a few others but even if I met nobody from here, I’ve never been stuck for a pint and a natter on Tyneside. Mind you, the guy I met last time at the Strawberry and swapped drinks and phone numbers with was a London Toon fan who was living in Cork! Mad world.

    sparky55,
I don’t think it’s that simple, there will definitely be investment in January and I think that would have happened without injuries, we need to start offloading players as well though, it could take up to £10M or more to just to pay off Ritchie, Murphy and whoever else isn’t in the immediate plans, it just seems like they’re not going about it that way.

I think that was done in the age before FFP which is very real, the LIV golf tournament shows these people do not care about money and pre FFP we’d probably have Haaland on £1.5M pw here and the Harlem globetrotters as HT entertainment, but there’s a reason we’re having to be so canny about it.

    ToonDarnSarf,

#46 your below quote is straight down the line and hit the nail bang on the head:

“People like Mike Ashley are a symptom of our modern society sadly. He might be good at rescuing faltering businesses but he’s shocking at anything to do with actual people”

He has a serious issue with the very important and full understanding of what a good “Duty of Care” of all his employees actually means and the benefits it can bring if adhered too and approached in a better humane manner, (happy workforce= Better productivity), if he had a decent HR and Health & Safety Department(s) in all his businesses who fully understand and appreciate the true reflection of what it needs to provide a decent level of duty of care within the workplace, in taking on board all their employees wellbeing, working standards and mental health. They need to be open and transparent and provide a full dossier on where he is going wrong or highlighted in board meetings rather than his probable yes men/woman. If they did highlight such issues, they’d be worked out his business, so what’s the point of having them? Lip service haha…that’s the feeling I get how he would operative. (A true sociopath IMO!!!!!)

He doesn’t get it though as all he is interested in is making money by hook or by crook, people’s welfare and wellbeing take a back seat for sure. But again; a happy workforce is a better workforce meaning better productivity = more money/capital into the business. I don’t think he gets that side of business though or he intentionally doesn’t want to recognise it. Everything else he grasps very well with his greedy fat fingers and is why he is a billionaire. The man has skin like a rhino and is a true 100% sociopath IMO!!!!!

Anyways enough of that man. Let’s not worry about him anymore. We’ve the best owners in the world now that’s all we should really discuss. Put that previous owner into the dark days history books and our future really is in the best possible hands, and I feel so relaxed knowing this 😎

    HWTL!!!!

Ashly certainly didn’t understand Newcastle. If he had invested properly in the team he bought, he could have made it a great team. They would have made him money playing in Europe every year and challenging for local cups. He could have endeared himself to the people of the toon. He could have been a somebody but he left a nobody and we’re happy to be rid of him. That’s what happens when you don’t understand people and don’t care. What an opportunity he missed. Amanda understands and wants the best for the city and the supporters of our team. If she continues to put her right foot forward, she will be legend.

Unfortunately we’ll never know why he ran us the way he did, it is all speculation as to whether he done it from spite, not doing due diligence etc etc etc, I say unfortunately as it would help get over the years of bewilderment as to why the f*#& he done it when he could have just as easily made it a success. Could he have sold it for a billion, did he make a billion anyway running us the way he did, who knows, we’ll never know.
