Another Magpie Has Injury Scare As Young Target Shines On International Debut

Newcastle have had a number of injury scares during this international break. Striker Chris Wood can now be added to the list. The 30-year-old was forced off with an injury in New Zealand’s 2-0 defeat against Australia yesterday.

With the match still scoreless in the 30th minute, Wood took a heavy challenge and was later withdrawn. During halftime came out to sign autographs for the New Zealand fans. Hopefully, it’s not a serious injury.

Alexander Isak withdrew from the Sweden squad with an undisclosed injury last week. Bruno Guimaraes didn’t play in Brazil’s 3-0 win against Ghana on Friday due to a thigh injury. He has remained with the squad and may play against Tunisia on Tuesday.

In the New Zealand match, Newcastle target Garang Kuol made his Australia debut. The recently-turned 18-year-old came on in the second half. By all accounts, the forward looked very good as he came on for the final 20 minutes.

Here is the youngster on the break which led to Australia’s second goal via a penalty.

Newcastle are reportedly negotiating a January move for Kuol, who has a modest release clause. The teenager’s rise into the Australia squad should help him gain a work permit in the near future. He scored 4 goals in 8 cameos for Central Coast Mariners last season.

JohnJ, really sorry to hear of all that tragedy in your life. Fair play to you for keeping going and having the disposition to do so. And a singer of Irish ballads too, top man!

Tuff you really are an appalling individual. There is zero risk at this stage that Pedro will be found guilty of having sex with an underage girl. If something was going to happen legally, it would have done so by now. So you’re just flapping around looking for notice.

And to then try to insinuate that underage sex might be appealing to me?

Well it says a lot about you, a horrible bitter old nut job.

Much comment about Wood yesterday. I thought the schar as a striker move was a, bit hair brained, whoever made it. But all entitled to an opinion. We paid a crazy amount due to his release clause but although he wasn’t a good signing, we were stuck for options and I think he chipped in. Decent pro and wouldn’t hold anything against the man, but he doesn’t suit Eddie system, apart from the fact that Eddie likes physical presence up front, not just pace and skill or trickery etc.

Moanster – as usual you completely miss the point and reply on an erroneous reading of what I posted. You have form for this. You obviously do not have a good understanding of English law

You are clearly after mischief – as usual.

I think we’re at a level now were Willock should be a squad player only, so hopefully signings will be made which make that happen. If he’s a bit part squad player I don’t see a situation where someone comes in and offers our money back for him, Arsenal got the absolute maximum price for him, like a brand new motor that has deprciated the moment it left the forecourt. If he does come good and plays better than his replacement then why do we need to sell him. I think he’ll either see out his deal or we’ll receive a nominal fee for him in about two seasons time.

Tuff, stop embarrassing yourself. I presume you were pissed. It was a nasty insinuation but because you’re a deranged old man it doesn’t bother me. But you should be ashamed of yourself if you feel the need to stoop so low in order to slag me off. A blog low point, I hope you feel good about yourself this morning.

Nij I wouldn’t paint so grim a picture re Willock personally. I don’t think we will be selling him for a profit any time soon but I don’t think we’ll lose our trousers on him, not too much anyway.

What players do we think that should/will be replaced in the medium to short term will get a fee, given that Hayden, probably one of our more saleable surplus assets had to be loaned out. I think we’d get maybe £15M for Almiron but he’s in the last year of his deal at the end of the season, do we stick or twist with him?

    Munster Mag,
It’s not a grim picture, I think he’s a decent squad player, I just don’t envisage a situation where another PL club pays that much money for a bit part squad player.

Nijmegen; Man City paid £50m for Phillips. Even without injury he would be lucky to get more than 10 starts for Man City.

A needs must right now as he is the best of what we have but hopefully we see him for advanced in the near future.

    Novocastrian66,
Yes, but he was one of Leeds best players, an England International and is being groomed as a replacement for Rodri, just because Man City bought a player to be a squad player doesn’t mean someone will pay us £23M for one of our squad players.

I’ve heard some people say PiF got a bargain with us, I suppose on paper, when you look at what other PL clubs are worth you could argue that case. But on the flip side, given the work that needs doing to the training ground and the fact that apart from ASM the squad is not only pretty much worthless but also problematic to move on. There will be vey little, if any at all in the way of income from player sales in the next three seasons.

” I am reporting on information in the public domain, I am not making a case against the bloke – just highlighting information in the public sector – no denying it like Moanster – just for a ruck or maybe he believes young lasses are fair game”

No Tuff, I dont think young ladies or girls like her are “fair game” .

But you are one sad and sorry old bastard for making the comment in the first place and I’m glad to show you up.

Nij I think Willock lacks a lot but he will still retain decent enough value if we sold him. I like him as a player but he isn’t the cleverest player on the pitch and his passing can be quite iffy but I just love watching those runs. He’s some athlete.

    Novocastrian66,
I think the owners would have been well aware of the state of the squad and what needs doing. It does puzzle me a bit when people are expecting us to be pushing for the top so quickly when we have so few saleable assets other than the ones we’ve bought since January, and I mean saleable as in to other PL or top flight overseas clubs.

    Willocks 23 (this August) , 90 PL games, (36 as a sub), 11 goals, 1 assist.

    Anthony Gordon 21 (22 – February 23), 57 PL games (19 as a sub), 6 goals, 3 assists.

Both have been poor this year. Yet Gordons being pushed as a £50m+ player…. (he a melt too)

Willock is still a good midfielder. And worth the money paid considering transfer fees this summer were completely barmey….

Just highlights your total lack of class Mund. I wonder how you would have reacted if I suggested one of your chums on here thought young lasses in the 15-17 age group were “fair game”. I think you would be rightly disgusted.

But when it’s said to me, all is OK.

You have zero principles, no back bone, no class, and your “support” isn’t worth a dime.

Well done for showing yourself up though.

Nijmegen-toon – I posted a couple of times even before Ashley sold the club that I thought we were a good investment. Buy us for about £300m then invest, say, another £300-400m and make us a CL club and then you have a club worth about £1b – a good return on your investment 😀

Tried, but they don’t want to match Lille’s asking price. Different story if the had match Newcastle’s bid. No brainer to choose Serie A champion and a CL club over Newcastle.
