Newcastle have had a number of injury scares during this international break. Striker Chris Wood can now be added to the list. The 30-year-old was forced off with an injury in New Zealand’s 2-0 defeat against Australia yesterday.
With the match still scoreless in the 30th minute, Wood took a heavy challenge and was later withdrawn. During halftime came out to sign autographs for the New Zealand fans. Hopefully, it’s not a serious injury.

Gutting one for Chris Wood. He has had to come off after getting injured in an earlier tackle.
Ben Waine is on to replace him.

Alexander Isak withdrew from the Sweden squad with an undisclosed injury last week. Bruno Guimaraes didn’t play in Brazil’s 3-0 win against Ghana on Friday due to a thigh injury. He has remained with the squad and may play against Tunisia on Tuesday.
In the New Zealand match, Newcastle target Garang Kuol made his Australia debut. The recently-turned 18-year-old came on in the second half. By all accounts, the forward looked very good as he came on for the final 20 minutes.
Here is the youngster on the break which led to Australia’s second goal via a penalty.

Newcastle are reportedly negotiating a January move for Kuol, who has a modest release clause. The teenager’s rise into the Australia squad should help him gain a work permit in the near future. He scored 4 goals in 8 cameos for Central Coast Mariners last season.

Yeah we were definitely worth a draw, and when you look how much better man-for-man the Scottish first XI were in comparison to our lads, it certainly wasn’t a result or performance that overly disappointed me. Certainly would be willing to give Kenny a bit more time to develop this side.

Comment #44Don’t understand myself when others can’t see why we are a huge pull for players like Botman.
We are the most exciting football project in world football and have the greatest fanbase in the country and up there as one of the best in the world and when we are full steam ahead we will be the best all round.
Playing at the Cathedral is some spectacle especially when you are part of the home team and this has always been the case down the years.

Well, every new signing always say the same thing, either is their first choice or childhood club. New signing’s first choice don’t really matters to me, I rather Newcastle be their last club before they retire.

So you’d rather think completely different regardless of what’s been said and what’s happened for what reason…?
It’s more logical to believe what Botman has said to think completely different like yourself. Which I don’t understand…

If you compare Newcastle with other CL clubs, maybe the lure of an interesting project might be a point. But I don’t think any players would choose Newcastle over AC Milan if the same wages and transfer fees is offered. Not saying Botman’s word is not true, just that it’s hard to make sense. Also all Newcastle’s signing have no competitors matching Newcastle’s bid either.

Afternoon Mate, i thought Ireland were very unlucky to not have got at least a draw last night as they played very well and if Troy Parrott had excepted his chance when clean through that would probably have put the game to bed, small margins usually determine the difference between success and failure in football. Ireland just need a prolific goal scorer something they haven`t had from the Robbie Keane days unfortunately as you know mate.

Comment #50I think people might be missing my point re Willock. Both Phillips and and Gordon have been mentioned as examples. Both are/were main men for their clubs. If Willock was a main man for us then getting our money back wouldn’t even be on the table as he wouldn’t be for sale. If he becomes a bit part squad player like I foresee, then I just don’t see a scenario where a squad player for us sells for £23M. I think he’ll either see his deal out or sell for a modest fee.

Who said they didn’t have the same offer…?
Maldini could of said Newcastle gazumped us with their offer and we couldn’t match it and he choose Newcastle but he never.
So were is this narrative coming from…?

I mean, there are some clubs with legendary history that players simply can’t refuse them, AC Milan is one of them. I think AC Milan is bigger lure than any clubs in England if don’t consider the managers at helm.

Comment #55Mitrovic now has an incredible 49 goals in 75 games. I thought that would be putting him up there in the list of all time top scorers, he’s quite a long way to go though. There are 67 players to have scored 50 or more goals.

So because you think like that way then that’s why you believe that Botman would of preferred Milan over us and have the opinion they couldn’t match our offer…?
That’s a lot of assumptions mate but each to our own.

Interesting from Romano on the Pedro deal.
He said the deal was all but agreed but Isak became available after months of Sociedad saying he was not available and the rest is history.
He was our number one target.
Make more sense than the crap we only signed Isak due to Wilson’s injury.
If that was the case and with our made-up budget of 30 million we would have just signed Pedro, who the Watford supporters say is more comfortable in a central position anyway.
Another blog myth being put to bed .

Watched most of the NI vs Kosovo game last night pal and can’t see Lewis getting in ahead of Targett anytime soon. What happened to the lad we saw bombing forward, going past folk with no fear and getting in decent crosses for Norwich?
Liverfool were even interested!
He got Bruced and has had some problematic lingersome injuries that seemed to have really put him back a bit. Hopefully wor Eddie gets him going again.
